WINTER ACTIVITIES
Snowmobiling
Located in the heart of Northern Michigan’s Snow Belt, Gaylord averages over 180 inches of snow each year—perfect for winter sports lovers. With rolling hills and thousands of acres of forest, the area is a true snowmobile paradise.
Snowmobile trail access: Hop on your sled right from the cabin—no trailering required! DNR Trail #4 is accessible by sled from cabin: Takes about 10 minutes from cabin to trail 4 by way of snowmobile friendly roadsides.
Plenty of trailer parking available (please ask in advance).
Driveway and neighborhood is plowed, but a 4WD or AWD vehicle is strongly recommended in winter as we are located in the highest elevation in lower Northern Michigan so we will get the snow in abundance usually!

Gaylord’s gentle terrain and deep snow make it ideal for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing, with trails winding through scenic forests and abundant wildlife. Several downhill ski resorts are also nearby for alpine skiing and snowboarding.
