Wonderful little cabin on the creek!

Great little cabin with everything we needed. Only reason I didn’t give it all five stars is that the photos don’t show how close the neighbors really are and one house was full of people who were loud and playing loud music until almost midnight. The setting was lovely and the swim hole was perfect!

Marvelous weekend in the redwoods

We made the most of our last weekend before the end of the school year by visiting this cabin. It’s cozy and charming, and was a great place to relax. We spent lots of time swimming and splashing in the creek, and enjoyed great meals on the back patio that we prepared in the well-appointed kitchen. We are already talking about our next visit.

So Relaxing!

This is a wonderful little cabin in the woods. The creek is just outside your door and you can walk for miles right from your front door. The owners are available if you need them. The place is peaceful and surrounded by beautiful trees. It's a great place to relax. Thank you!

Great way to unplug

We stayed for 3 nights over 4th of july. It was amazing being able to bring our dogs and be almost camping but with a fridge and a shower and less set up!Beautiful area. I went for multiple runs and walks with my dogs and just loved it. Cabin was everything we needed for our stay!Neighbors on one side were a little loud but that isn't property's fault. Just a note. Access to the creek was so easy and dogs LOVED it! Would stay again! Felt like camping with half the work! Loved that there was no internet and very little cell service.

Great Peaceful Stay!

We were scheduled to stay at this cabin for 2 nights, but it was so fantastic we decided to stay for another night. Mike was great to work with, very responsive and super cool about letting us extend our stay. We had our two dogs with us and they just loved all the open space and access to the water, although the rocks getting to the creek were hard on our older dog's paws. We really lucked out that there absolutely no neighbors around us, so it was quiet and peaceful, exactly what we were hoping for. I could see this being a very different experience if we were surrounded by families or children, but the way it worked out could not have been more perfect. The cabin itself was clean, comfortable and fully stocked, so it was the epitome of accommodating. Overall I can't speak highly enough of this great little gem!

Two nights in the redwoods

The cabin was as advertised. I personally found it charming. I really liked the location, using the wood burning stove for heat and being that close to the creek. There were only two of us, it might be a little small for four. Overall it was very nice.

Weekend Getaway

It was an enjoyable experience getting away from phones and the internet. We spent most of our time at the river, exploring rocks and animal sounds. The cabin also had sand toys and bubbles, and provided everything we needed.

Cozy Cabin on the creek

Spent three nights bringing in the new year, enjoying a relaxing stay at Cozy Cabin. Comfortable bed, well appointed kitchen, and lovely grounds to explore. Spent time walking the creek, and exploring the Russian River area. Once I figured out how to build a decent fire and work the blower, we we're warm, warm, warm.

Great, quaint vaca rental.

My boyfriend, dog, and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. The cabin was very comfortable and well equipped. The fireplace kept the whole place very toesty! You are definitely close to other surrounding cabins, but still feel very secluded. Definitely would recommend this place to a couple + dog!

Nice and cool in the trees, just how I like it.

We really enjoyed the stay, lots of things to do around here also and close to the ocean. The cabin was nice, kitchen was stocked well, my only problem was the bed wasn't made, not sure if a cleaning lady never showed up or not ? Mike was very helpful with the booking process due to the covid 19. If I come back to California I would definitely stay there again.

Perfect Quiet Getaway

This was just the experience I was looking for! My SO, infant and I were just needing some time in nature and quiet, and this was it. I didn't want to go camping because of the temperatures, but the cabin was the perfect blend of nature, being warm, and having the convenience of electricity, a hot shower, and stove-cooked meals. The only thing that would make this property better would be wifi so we can look up the awesome things to do around the area without having to resort to putting the phone in the bedroom window. But in it's own way, it was also nice to have that deeper disconnect where we didn't have to respond to people because of infrequent cell reception. All-in-all, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet reset for two people (or two adults and a young child). Thanks for having us!

Cozy Stay

The property was very cozy and beautiful. Great proximity to the Russian River, Forestville, Bodega Bay, and Jenner. While the cabin was lovely, it wasn’t the most clean. There was debris on the floor as well as on the bed covers. The bed wasn’t fully/well made when we arrived and after looking at the guest book, we saw that there had been guests who’d left the morning of (we arrived in the evening), which made me question if the linens or towels were fully cleaned. Also the door to the porch where the wood is was very hard to lock from the inside, and needed to be lifted to be fully locked. On our last night we were using the fire pit and when I closed this same door (unlocked) behind me, I found out we were locked out because the door knob doesn’t open from the outside. Neither of us had the keys or our phones, but my partner was able to open one of the living room windows (which turned out to be unlocked) so I could climb through and grab the keys/open the sliding glass door. Overall, we did have a great time but I still wanted to share those experiences.

Unfortunate experience

We arrived at this property to find the place covered in dirt, with furniture in disarray and badly damaged, and did not match the pictures at all. There was dirt all over the bed and the sheets were clearly unwashed. Unfortunately, we decided we could not stay there. We asked for a refund and have not received one or any other communication from the lister.

Peaceful and Beautiful place to Reflect on Life!

We arrived at 11pm driving thru pitch black darkness. As u can imagine, property was hard to find but eventually we found it after getting out of the truck walking around the trails. The check in instructions were very easy to follow and we found the keys, then unlocked the door. WOW! we all said together lol this cabin is nice and cozy. It has a welcoming feeling of loving grandparents. My 9yr old son noticed the yellow phone on the wall and said "Mom, is that a phone on the wall?" He picked it up and said "OMG! It works! But how do u dial the phone number so I can call check up on grandma?" I had to explain to him how to use a ROTARY DIAL phone lol That phone brought back so much found memories of the 70-80's, it was just like being at my mom's house again. So far so good! We checked out the entire cabin and it's very rustic and well loved. The bed mattress is very bouncy (wasn't use to that as we have foam mattress at home) but we slept well. The next morning we woke up to see the BEAUTY of the woods! We missed so much driving up in the night time. The property is amazing and peaceful with a slight cool gentle breeze. We walked for 2 mins to get to the creek and it was a bummer to see the drought. There was hardly any water left in the creek. It has now turned into an ankle high babbling brook with tons of algae but that didn't stop the children from playing in it and they still had fun! We had no TV (antenna line was disconnected?) No internet or cell phone service, so it was GREAT! to see the children play using their imagination! Cooking in the kitchen was awesome! Love the stove, it heats up boiling water in less then 2 mins! Convection oven heats up fast and stays warm for a long time after u turn it off. The fridge kept everything very cold and the BBQ grill is perfection! It had a full tank of propane and was cleaned ready for the next grilling! We celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary, then next day was my bday and the day after that was my husband's bday! We had some family come up to camp over night in their tent with the children and they said it wasn't cold at night, they slept well and to wake up looking at the beautiful redwood trees was amazing! Thank you very much to the Smith family for letting our family enjoy your property! We feel very blessed to have come to a place like this! God bless you and your family always!

Joy in the Redwoods

This property is pure magic! I stayed with my two granddaughters and we thoroughly enjoyed preparing our meals inside and on the gas grill and even over the fire in the fire pit! We had everything we needed. It was a nice respite to be electronically disconnected and the landline stil provides an opportunity for emergency contact if needed. I would enjoy just visiting this space on my own for a weekend - if I lived closer! my contacts with Mike were always warm, friendly and informative.

About the host

Host profile image
We bought this cabin next to my parents cabin after a big storm had nearly destroyed it. We spent a year fixing it up, and have enjoyed it ever since. I grew up coming up here as a child, and was so lucky to give the same experience to my children. It's a wonderful place to simply be, to take time to nap, sleep, enjoy a creek, play hide-and-seek in the trees. It's lovely.

Why they chose this property

The long story is my father grew up going as a Boy Scout from San Francisco to Camp Royaneh in the 1930's, just up the road. After WW2, and he had married my Mom and adopted us kids, he wanted the same experience of getting away from the City, so he and my Mom bought the cabin. So I grew up going up here, my older brother went to Camp Royaneh, and we spent many summers here. So my husband and I bought the cabin next door, and my kids grew up being able to run back and forth from the cabins and spend time with their Grandparents. There is nothing like a Creek in the woods for a lesson in Ecology for children. They can see tadpoles become frogs, water skeeters chasing smaller bugs, trout eating flies. At night, we wander down to the Creek and shine flashlights over the water to see bats eating. In the Fall and Winter, when the rains come, the small creek becomes a small river, and the smell during and after the rain, well, it smells fresh and primeval, like the world did at the dawn of time. We welcome you to stay and find out for yourself.
