Architect and dreamer Earl Young created a magical world with his unique and eccentric stone cottages in Charlevoix. Half House is absolutely one of the most adorable homes you will ever see! Now you can experience it for yourself. Enjoy the sandy beach, lighthouse and breathtaking sunsets just outside your door. Half House is an easy two block stroll to the quaint village of Charlevoix for shopping, dining, marina, ferry, drawbridge and music in the park.

Everything you will need for a comfortable vacation is included: luxurious cotton bed linens and towels, firewood and kindling, free wireless internet, books, music, Roku smart flatscreen TV with streaming channels and DVD player, kitchenware, beach chairs, plus an endless supply of hot water! Not to mention the spectacular view of majestic Lake Michigan! This cozy two bedroom home accommodates four guests quite comfortably. Relax!

Sorry, no pets allowed. Please note that Half House has no central air conditioning. The earthen stone structure and steady cool breeze blowing in over the cold waters of Lake Michigan keep the home comfortable. We also provide fans in every room.

The house is so unique and full of history. The view is phenomenal! We had four women there and the sleeping arrangements worked out just fine despite the small size of the house. It was just plain fun to stay there! I highly recommend!

This unique property was perfect for a weekend away. We could walk into town for dinner, and to the beach. Enjoyed the fireplace for the chilly almost-spring weather we had, and it was very cozy for reading and relaxing. We didn't use the upstairs bedroom, but that would be fun for some young kids.

We were excited to stay in an Earle Young cottage, and the location was wonderful. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, but the property didn’t quite live up to our expectations. There was a strong odor when we arrived, and the steep walk to the cottage may be difficult for guests with mobility issues. We didn’t mind that there was no central air, but several windows were missing screens, making it hard to enjoy fresh air. The home could also benefit from some updating and deferred maintenance, including peeling paint in a few areas. Many of the furnishings also felt quite dated and well past their prime.That said, we truly loved staying in such a unique home. I brought my mom and aunt, and they thoroughly enjoyed their time there. This property has so much charm and incredible potential. With a little more attention to maintenance, updated furnishings, and general upkeep, it could easily be an outstanding rental.

Sorry the second bedroom was missing its screens - we found them in the closet afterward. Since the reservation was for one adult, we hadn’t expected that room to be used.

Why they chose this property

I have been a homeowner in Charlevoix for over twenty five years. I purchased Half House in 2001 and quite frankly, I couldn't believe it was for sale! It is perfectly located directly across from the beach and just two blocks to downtown.
