About the host
Hosted by Sean Sura
Sean and I (Jacqui) live in the West Valley of Phoenix and absolutely love spending time outdoors. Like many Arizonans, we were looking for a place where we could escape the intense summer heat, slow down, and enjoy the fresh mountain air. When we found this cabin in Payson, it felt like the perfect retreat.
We love coming up here to hike, relax on the deck among the tall pines, and enjoy the cooler temperatures that make the mountains so special. Our hope is that when you stay here, you feel that same sense of relaxation and connection to nature that made us fall in love with this place. We’re so happy to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
One of the things we love most about this neighborhood is how peaceful and surrounded by nature it feels, while still being conveniently located about a 20-minute drive from downtown Payson. It’s the perfect balance — far enough away to truly relax among the tall pines and quiet mountain setting, but close enough to easily enjoy local restaurants, coffee shops, and grocery stores when you need them. In the mornings you may hear birds and see wildlife passing through, and in the evenings the cooler mountain air makes relaxing on the deck especially enjoyable.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property especially unique to us is the care and work that went into bringing it to life. We purchased the cabin in October 2025 and spent the next four months renovating and upgrading the home, carefully improving the space while still preserving the character and charm that made us fall in love with it in the first place.
This is a true log cabin home, something that is increasingly rare to find, and with nearly 5,000 square feet including the finished basement, there is plenty of space for large families and groups to gather comfortably. Many of the updates and improvements you’ll see throughout the home were projects we took on ourselves. It was a huge learning experience and truly a labor of love.
Because Sean and I both love nature and the outdoors, creating beautiful outdoor spaces was especially important to us. During the renovation we refreshed the main deck, which is over 350 square feet, along with the upper deck, giving guests multiple places to relax and enjoy the peaceful setting among the tall pines. Whether it’s sipping coffee in the cool morning air, watching the sunset, or simply spending time outside with family and friends, these spaces are some of our favorite parts of the cabin.
Our goal was to create a place that feels warm, welcoming, and memorable—where guests can relax, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a true mountain getaway.
