Get ready to relax in this 1-bedroom cabin in Blackstock. This beautiful cabin offers a perfect spot for guests looking to unwind and enjoy some quiet time. With an art gallery outhouse and cozy living space, it’s easy to feel right at home. Whether you’re here for a weekend escape or a longer stay, this cabin provides a comfortable retreat. A great place to call homebase while you're away, we hope you enjoy your stay on this 10 acre forested property with no neighbours. The log cabin is nestled in the middle of the East Cross Forest in the rolling hills of scugog. Enjoy laying in the hammock listening to the sounds of birds flying overhead, light a fire under the stars in the fire pit. Only 20 mins north of the 401 from Bowmanville situated east of Blackstock, Ontario.
This property is secluded on a dirt road. The cabin is 100 square feet on ground level with 100 square feet of loft space that includes the sleeping area and is well designed to meet your needs for a camping/outdoor event.
There is no hydro, however there are lights that operate off a solar panel. There is no refriderator - a cooler is provided if needed. bring ice. Water is harvested from the rain and held in a cistern that feeds a running water line into the cabin kitchen sink. There is hot water when heated on the propane stove. There is also an outdoor shower as shown in the pics. The shower works off the solar spray system as shown in one of the pics. The special solar bag allows the sun to heat water in the bag to 37 degrees in 2.5 hours. This water bag runs shower water for 8 mins. The water is not potable, bring drinking water. A Large outhouse with windows and artwork is located behind the cabin. There is a propane bbq on site and a propane hot plate for cooking.
Common viewings of wildlife includes deer, porcupine, red squirrels, turkeys, and coyotes are often heard.
There is ample firewood that can be scavenged off the property from dead wood on the forest ground. however, I cannot guarantee it will be dry for burning. Bring your own if it has been raining prior to checking in. Fires can easily spread throughout the forest, please keep your fire within the pit and small.
The interior of the cabin is equipped with a couch and a table and chairs. Dishes and cutlery are provided. Theres a French press for making coffee. Coffee is not provided. The double bed is located in the bedroom loft. You must be able to climb a ladder to access the loft. If you are booking for the months of May, September, or October bring additional extra blankets to meet your needs of comfort.
The property consists of red pine/deciduous forest. There are numerous trails that run through he east cross forest that are accessible from the road. The trails are great for biking also, atv's and mopeds.
Above all enjoy what the forest and the wilderness has to offer!
A common request is an axe or saw. these are not provided. Dont forget to bring yours.
