Avoid pouring grease or food scraps down any drains. Septic repairs due to improper use require a minimum $250 service call. Thank you for helping us maintain the system!
Mountain Living & Wildlife
You're staying in the beautiful Smoky Mountains where black bears and other wildlife thrive, especially spring through fall. This is part of the authentic mountain experience! For your safety and theirs:
Never leave food, coolers, or trash outside (even briefly on the deck) Store everything inside when not in use Take all trash to the bear-proof dumpster by the EV charger before checkout Keep all doors and windows locked when away and overnight
These simple steps protect both you and the cabin. Damage resulting from unsecured food/trash or unlocked entry points may result in repair charges.
Mountain Driving & Accessibility
Wears Valley Road is scenic but winding - drive carefully, especially at night or in rain/snow. The cabin driveway is accessible for most vehicles year-round, though 4WD/AWD is recommended during winter weather.
Wellness Amenity Safety (Ages 18+)
Sauna: Limit sessions to 15-20 minutes. Stay hydrated before and after. Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, have cardiovascular conditions, or heat sensitivity. Use at your own risk. Hot Tub: Limit soaking to 15-20 minutes to avoid overheating. No glass containers. Shower before entering. Stay hydrated before and after. Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, have cardiovascular.
Weather & Connectivity
Mountain weather changes quickly - bring layers! Power outages during severe storms are rare but possible. Cell service can be spotty at the cabin - please connect to WiFi upon arrival to stay fully connected.
Seasonal Insects (Nature Notice)
Like all mountain properties, you may occasionally spot seasonal visitors: ladybugs and stink bugs in fall/winter, or common southern insects in summer. They're attracted to the warmth of cabins throughout the Smokies. We maintain regular professional pest control and thorough cleaning before every stay, but these insects can return quickly during peak seasons. Most guests don't encounter them, but we wanted you to know this is a normal part of mountain living!
Neighboring Properties
Evergreen Retreat is located in a quiet mountain community. While your experience will feel private and secluded, occasional neighboring cabins are visible in the distance, and you may hear sounds from nearby properties during your stay. Most guests find the area peaceful and serene.

This was a perfect cabin, so clean and new. Had everything we needed. Loved the sauna and hot tub. The views were great. Loved being on the peaceful side.
The property and host were remarkable. There's nothing we would change about our stay other than one of the bears stealing an outdoor patio cushion. Getting to see bears on the property 2 days in a row was such a treat as we were hoping to see them and otherwise would not have the rest of our trip to TN. There was an abundance of wildlife as well which was what we hoped for. It was so relaxing to be able to drive up the mountain to our own retreat for the week. It was so serene and peaceful, there are only a few homes even visible but still set away for privacy. The amenities of staying at Evergreen Retreat were more than ample. If we had stayed on the property the entire week, it would have been completely worth it. The guys in our group did zipline as well as the 4 of us toured Tuckaleechee caverns and found it quite beautiful and exciting. We made most of our meals at the property and found the kitchen to be well stocked. The property owner was extremely helpful and communicative from the time we booked our visit and throughout our stay. We would absolutely come back to this property in the future.
