Beautifully Restored Cottage

This cottage has been restored to bring a vintage Irish home alive, and updated with modern day conveniences. It is beautifully decorated, and supplied with everything a weary traveler could need. We found it neat and tidy, and very well maintained. It is located far enough away from the noise and traffic of the city, yet an easy drive to get you there.

The loveliest character cottage

Cannot say enough good things about this little cottage. It’s excellently located to all the best attractions in Kerry, and it’s perfectly situated in the country but close enough to Castleisland to make getting groceries and going to the local pub easy. The caretaker, Timmy, built a fire for us twice and a local man gave my Dad an autographed book of his own poetry. Absolutely perfect accommodation for a family trip.

Castleisland stay

We enjoyed our stay and how original this home was. The hot tub and creek out back was so relaxing after a day of traveling. We didn’t cook while there so I can’t remark on cooking supplies and etc. I think some shelving in the large wardrobes in bedrooms would help a lot. We used the extra small table in the utility area to lay out our clothes so we didn’t have to get into luggage everyday. They had plenty of extra covers/pillows in 2nd bedroom. They also had toilet paper and paper towel for arrival which was nice. The parking issue mentioned in another review is no problem at all it’s literally 10 feet from the gate of the house. We would definitely stay again! It’s a beautiful area and the owner at Hughes bar told us to go to Brownes bar for live music on a Friday night and it was the highlight of our trip. Beautiful place with the friendliest people.

Excellent stay

This cottage was the perfect introduction to Ireland and such a unique stay. There aren’t many thatch roof cottages anymore and especially rare to be along side a river with a hot tub and beautiful garden. It was a dream to stay at and the contacts were really easy to work with given our flight changes. Would absolutely recommend.

Cutest little Irish Cottage WITH HOT TUB

This was exactly what we were looking for and more! The cutest little cottage, which was actually very spacious and comfortable, had so much character, but also had modern amenities including the most delightful hot tub. Great shower also. Loved our stay. Would add that the wifi only reached to the kitchen, so wouldn't be ideal for someone who needed to really work, but for holiday it was great!

Beautiful thatched roof cottage

We loved this vrbo, it was an authentic Irish cottage. Communication with the host and the local people who help take care of the cottage was great. Timmy the groundskeeper was extremely helpful upon our arrival at the location. Very spaceous, with a large fireplace, full kitchen, washer, dryer. Lots of history and photos of the cottage over the years. Central to Killarney and Dingle. Our favourite!!!

Family trip to Ireland

Cute, traditional Irish cottage! We loved all of the photos and neat antiques in the home. Cottage was well cleaned and exterior gardens and patio areas were amazing. Wish we had more time and dry weather to sit and enjoy coffee on the back deck. Kids loved the hot tub! We appreciated having a clothes dryer. There were plenty of extra blankets and towels. Communication was always quick and very helpful. Location was great for all of our day trips. We would return again!

Picture perfect Irish stay!

We couldn't have asked for more!! Mary Rose cottage is the exact thatched roof cottage I picture when I think of Ireland! The half doors and beautiful gardens just add to it!! We enjoyed the hot tub and even through some true Irish rain drops! Delightful! It was so inviting to be greeted at check in with a fire going and everything. Thank you for offering such a sweet and secluded Irish experience for us! And thank you for the special honeymoon treats! It was perfect!

Beautiful Warm Irish Cottage

From the start communication and the plans went smoothly- This cottage was more than what we could have hoped for. The amazing fireplace prepared and ready to go with Irish Turf. The home itself decorated with much love & attention- Clean and cozy! Stocked with special snacks/coffee and ample supplies for our stay-not one detail overlooked Felt I was welcomed into a charming home of a friend- Thank you for sharing such a wonderful Irish home! We will have fond memories of our lovely stay!

Dream of a lifetime

If you ever wondered how our Irish ancestors lived ,this property will help you to understand. As a youngster I spent time every summer at my grandparents house in Chicago. They both came from county Kerry and this cottage in county Kerry made me feel what their life may have been like before they.left for America. The beauty of the place is that all the upgrades like a hot tub, a Hugh jetted tub, plenty of hot water, a dishwasher, etc do not detract from the essential feel of the place.

A Nice Stay in Ireland

Our family stayed here for a week and the location was a good one for day trips through County Kerry, Cork and Limerick. The cottage is quaint and appointed with all necessary items you'll need, including a washer and dryer, which comes in handy. Being an old, historical home, it comes with its own minor quirks which mostly add to the charm. Overall the home was clean. The local caretakers are very nice and helpful. The only drawback was that the home was a bit musty. This could be due to the unusually wet summer Ireland was experiencing. This was my first time staying in a thatched roof stone cottage and one I will remember fondly.

My family is of Irish descent. Our first time to the Emerald Isle was in 1996. I fell in love with it as every one does and knew then that some day I would have a home there.........a Thatched Cottage. Being involved in architechture,I had always been fascinated in thatched roof cottages. When I purchased Cottage Mary Rose in 2000 I never realised how much I would fall in love with it. It is my true passion, named after my mother, Mary Rose Bowler, I wanted to share this amazing bit of Irish History with others....

Why they chose this property

I wanted a historic thatched cottage off of the beaten track but close enough to tourist attractions. I am an avid gardener and knew that this location was perfect for a great garden. There are fuschia & camelias every where! The stream was the frosting on the cake. So dramatic because of the ravine and rushing water below. The sound is so calming and tranquil. I preferred the small village of Cordal because you get a TRUE feel of the real Ireland instead of the touristy areas. I was happy enough with the Church and Kearney's Grocer.....I thought all it needed was a pub......my dream was answered and Hughes Pub was built by Sean Hughes a local Cordal lad in 2006. It is a beautiful pub and great for local gab, a great Pint and a game of pool. All with in a 5 minute walk. Our great cottage has stood the test of time. I love sharing this peice of Heaven with others.........

What makes this property unique

Cottage Mary Rose is a wonderful blend of a living bit of history. Add to this a Jacuzzi tub, rain shower and hot tub over looking a stream and you have it all. We even provide WiFi internet connection. Large kitchen which is wonderful for entertaining. The Heritage cooker is probably the best method of cooking food. Besides the Irish farm table there is also a front patio for dining and the deck where you can dine with the sounds of the peaceful stream and song of the birds. Nothing beats relaxing in the hot tub at the end of a long day while enoying the stars above...........absolute Heaven.............
