Experience Edisto’s beauty with a “bird’s eye view” during your vacation at Pink Bird Cottage. Located in a private gated community (The Hammocks) on Edisto Island, this cozy cottage features all the amenities you need to enjoy the beautiful Jeremy Inlet and a secluded beach on the Atlantic Ocean (a small boat/kayak is needed to access the beach).



Spectacular sunrises, views of the ocean and creek, and the sights and sounds of saltwater marshes are served daily by Mother Nature herself. Whether you enjoy boating, birdwatching, crabbing, fishing, kayaking, or just a spectacular view of the Lowcountry, the vantage points from almost every angle of this 1,500-square-foot cottage are sure to wow guests of all ages.



A unique floor plan, with the main bedroom on the second floor, is perfect for enjoying breathtaking views of the ocean with your morning coffee, which you can prepare in the small kitchenette area just outside the second-floor sleeping quarters. The kitchen, dining room, and living room combination, located on the main level, will have your group sharing laughter and fun throughout your visit. Dine al fresco or simply cool off after a hot day in the sun on the comfortably furnished, screened-in porch just off the main living area. Unplug from daily life but stay connected with satellite TV and free wireless internet.



Be sure to pack your fishing poles or stop by the store for crabbing materials. A community boat ramp is also available. As the perfect getaway for a friends’ weekend, a fishing adventure, a vacation to remember with your growing kids, or a quiet couples' retreat, Pink Bird Cottage has all the comforts of home.

Our family loved this house and property. It was thoughtfully appointed with charming vintage touches, and had everything we needed. The flora and fauna were breathtaking. The few neighbors we encountered were polite and quiet. I’ve been to Edisto multiple times over the years but this was by far my favorite location. Such a special property! Nice beach house

We loved how cute the house was and the way the rooms were laid out. It was a nice area. There was a lot of animal feces on the decks, not sure if it was duck, geese or raccoon but wasn’t pleasant to see. We were pleased every bedroom had a bathroom!

While it was a tad away from most of our activities, we loved this location and hanging so close to the ocean. We love kayaking so this was a great spot to paddle around and to the Atlantic Ocean. The house had multiple places to hang outside and we love loved loved the 3rd floor views. Communication was great as well. Highly recommend this location. Thanks for everything!

Winter Respite

We enjoyed our weekend getaway at Edisto. The house is located in a beautiful natural setting with decks, porch and balcony views of the marsh, creek and ocean. Wonderful sunset and sunrise views. For us it was a cold, rainy time and the house was very comfortable and attractive. It is close to Edisto State Park and restaurants. We rode bikes and explored Botany Bay Preserve. I would suggest improving the TV reception if that is possible in the area. Also a larger Master Bedroom bed would be was asset.

Just what the Dr. Ordered

Edisto is like something out of a magazine. Calm, easy, quiet. Hikes are great, the people are nice. This house is in the most beautiful setting. Breakfast on the main deck and coffee in the rocking chairs. Plenty of room for all to sit and yammer. Very secluded in a classy neighborhood. The beds are comfortable. The linens are high quality. The decor of the entire house is classic. Kind of upscale grandma's. Very clean and the kitchen has everything you need. Good quality. If you're a Myrtle Beach kind of person don't come here. We'll be back and be sure to tell others. True travelers will appreciate this property.

Great house on the marsh

We were looking for a good all-in kind of house where we could basically just stay at the house for our entire vacation, rather than using it as a homebase to go do other things. This house works perfectly for that. The neighborhood has amazing foliage and is great for going on walks, there's some nice scenic drives with good oak canopy all around. The beach is a very short drive away, along with a few gift shops. The view is amazing from every room in the house, and the dock is perfect for hanging out, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, and crabbing. The house was clean and we enjoyed our stay. The only thing we had an issue with was the neighborhood front gate code. It was very unclear as we received one code in our email instructions and we received another code in our check-in instructions with the key. Neither code worked, so we had to call in to the management company to get a new code. That was the only issue we had and they let us check out an hour late on the last day so it's all good..I would definitely stay here again.

An estuary retreat

The Pink Bird Cottage is a quiet, private getaway with easy access to a tidal estuary perfect for boating, kayaking, fishing, crabbing, or just tuning out distractions and taking in the sounds of the pounding surf and marsh life. Some tips that will help you get the most out of your visit. 1). I recommend you budget in a pass to Edisto State Beach (~$99). You do not have beach access on foot from the private dock and would need to either take a boat on the tidal river out back or drive to the public access parking lot. 2). Nearby Botany Bay and ACE Basin nature preserves are both free and offer unique views of beach and marsh habitat with the opportunity to encounter shorebirds and even alligators. 3). The internet connection on the island is spotty, so expect to rely on some cell data if you plan to spend considerable time on the internet. 4). Some of the negative reviews seem to expect an antiseptic space. This isn't possible in a marshland environment. There are lizards, insects, shorebirds, and at least one squirrel who likes to visit the porch. The interior is as clean and comfortable of an environment as you can get in a subtropical wetland. If you are scared of insects and lizards, maybe South Carolina isn't for you?

Family Fun in Edisto

It was perfect for our family! My son and his wife had the master upstairs and the children had a bedroom with two beds, also upstairs. There was a mini kitchen upstairs that allowed them to keep snacks and drinks. I had the downstairs bedroom with bathroom. We all enjoyed crabbing and fishing on the dock and the beach was minutes away. Beach view was awesome! Perfect vacation!! Would recommend to all types of guests!

Nice View and Location

We had a great time at Pink Bird Cottage. Lots of positives, but needs lots of TLC on the inside and outside! Positives are: Great view, nice boat access, quiet and beautiful community, kitchen well stocked with pots/pans, etc. Negatives were: house is in dire need for some updates! Throw rugs were definitely a hazard on wood floors, fridge had a leak and was not fixed while we were there (must have been an issue prior to our stay), lights under house did not work (not sure if they were burned out or what) and since that is "main" entrance into the house, it would have been nice to have working lights - also would have helped when we fileted fish after dark, there was no space to hang clothes - when you stay a week you need at least one closet and house had NO closets only small wardrobes - not ideal for a family of 4, front of house was a small jungle and needed some TLC (this is also why we did not use this entrance). Overall house was cute and cozy, but really need to invest some money into updates of furniture, décor, bathrooms (very small showers), closet/storage space and appliances! Never used the sink/fridge/etc. on the upper level - that would be a good place to put a closet or expand the master bathroom!

Great Thanksgiving get- away with our family.

Pink Bird Cottage is located in a beautiful community. We enjoyed walking, bird watching, and fishing each day. Especially loved seeing the dolphins swim by the dock. Loved waking up seeing the sun rise over the ocean each morning- started the day off just right. Nice furnishings and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving meal. Made some special memories.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There were several safety issues that needed attention. And the house needs a deep cleaning, but overall it was relaxing and had a beautiful view. I did not see any smoke detectors, which concerned me since there were indoor drop cords running all over, even outside in the rain. The rug was a tripping hazard and the rental company had to come tape it down. There were rusty nails sticking out along the deck railing. The house was dusty. The gas logs would not light. The refrigerator smelled like shrimp really bad and I had to put used coffee grounds in it every morning to absorb the smell, so by the time I left, the smell wasn’t too noticeable. Also the refrigerator door would not stay shut. The house would be a great rental if maintenance and safety issues are addressed.

Since your stay the nails have been removed, and there have been no further issues with the refrigerator. This is the first report we've received regarding the gas logs as they have been working during previous stays. We will check with the owner to ensure they are still operational. We will discuss a more permanent solution for the rug and schedule a deep cleaning with the home owners who are always interested in enhancing their guest's experiences. Wonderful spot to get away from it all

Great location if you want peace and quiet. It felt very secluded, but was just a short bike ride or drive to the state park, grocery store and shops at Edisto. We brought our kayak and canoe and paddled to the beach every day - about a 10 minute paddle. We loved that it was on the river, but you could still see and hear the ocean. The house was cute and comfortable and had everything we needed for the week. If we go back to Edisto, I would stay there again.

Peaceful retreat

We enjoy the neighborhood, because it is quiet, uncrowded, and peaceful. We enjoyed eating on the deck, and having a glass if wine on our own private dock. Each room has a nice view, and the house is light inside- even on a rainy day. I did feel there weren't enough pots and pans (we cooked supper every night), and and the fire alarm malfunctioned and woke us up at 4 - and again at 6 am. But overall, we loved the house and would happily stay there again.

1st and only Visit

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our first visit to this property and our last. The location is wonderful! The house is nasty. When you walk in there is a large stain on the rug. The white furniture is covered in stains. There are cobwebs in every single corner of every room. The windows are covered in thick layers of dust. The curtains by the dining table is covered in dust and dead bugs. There is what looks like mold on the ceiling in the kitchen. The smoke detector in the kitchen has also been taken down. There is a chair in the bedroom upstairs that's covered in what looks like blood spots. The single bed in that room has what looks like urine stain on the head board. And I thought this home was pet free but there is dog hair everywhere. That bed I was just talking about is covered in black pet hair. The dock is really nice but there are so many loose boards. I have never stayed in an Atwood home that was in this kind of shape. If Atwood would like to contact me, please do I have pictures of everything I am speaking of.
