The house was very spacious, the snow surrounding the house, made it super fun for my grandchildren. Indoor spa was wonderful. It was perfectly located close to the casinos. The owner was easy to communicate with. We had a wonderful stay. We will be staying there in the near future.
This house met our needs well for a group of families with kids traveling for a ski race. There is ample common area space to spend time together and enough rooms for down time away from the group. The hot tub is an added bonus and the owner was very communicative.
Our stay was amazing! Location was also amazing!Communication with host was also amazing! We will definitely be back to stay again! I Would recommend that the host post coffee maker/k-cup maker in the beginning of the descriptions. I packed my Keurig coffee maker and brought it with us when I didn't need to.Also recommend a TV in the down stairs master bedroom. Our visit was fantastic! Couldn't ask for a better vacation rental or a better host! I give this Property/Host 5 stars across the board!
We loved the house, location and proximity to Heavenly and open space to walk the dog. Cooked in well appointed kitchen and lived indoor hot tub. Awesome place!!
We had a wonderful Christmas stay! House is very spacious, lots of sleeping beds. Kitchen very well maintained and equipped. Two cars garage is available ( very convenient especially when it’s snowing and icy.) heating floor was a plus! Jacuzzi inside is very nice. Especially when it’s very cold outside and you can manage the temperature by closing windows. I would definitely recommend this beautiful house and will stay there again. Dick is very responsive and helpful.
We came from Sunnyvale, CA; San Saba, TX; and Kansas City, MO to spend Thanksgiving together as a family. The home was all we could have asked for and the location perfect. What a wonderful week with everything we needed, a place for kids and adults both. Would definitely stay here again. The host was responsive and there when we needed him, even with concerns for snow and power at the beginning. Just a wonderful week!
Great location, comfortable house, excellent communication with owner
My husband, 2 small dogs and I had a wonderful 2 week vacation here in the Fall.
The house is in a great location, close to the lake, trails, restaurants, and casinos. Very quiet neighborhood.
The house was comfortable and had everything (and more) we could ask for to cook up nice meals and kick back and relax.
We will definitely stay here again. I highly recommend!

This home was wonderful. The location off of Pioneer Trail is great. The host was very responsive and easy to contact. Home is stocked with anything and everything (appliances, tools) you can think of for your cooking purposes. My daughter used the indoor hot tub with windows facing the rear forested area and my grandson loved the upstairs jetted bathtub.
At the end of the court is open forest and our German shepherd loved running off leash. Highly recommend. We would definitely rent the home again, in a heartbeat!
We booked Richard’s home for a family gathering that consisted of 7 adults and three children aged 7 and under. Home is spacious and well equipped on a quiet neighborhood less than 10 minutes from Lake Tahoe. Lots of room to spread out including an upstairs suite with bed, table, frig, microwave, fireplace, TV and sofa chairs. Toy/game closet n kids’ video collection. Inviting bedrooms with quilts on every bed. Modern, well equipped kitchen. Front deck with lots of seating and barbecue n table for outdoor dining/cocktails overlooking terraced wildflower garden.
Host was very welcoming and easily accessible by text.
Fabulous stay!!
This property was a wonderful place to stay. It is spacious, located in a nice, quiet area, was very clean, and had updated bathrooms and kitchen. The outside porch was a great place to sit and enjoy the Summer evenings. This was the perfect place to stay for me and a group of friends to explore and experience the beautiful Lake Tahoe area. Everyone was very pleased with the accommodations.

Unexpected
I will not say all reviews can show the true picture of a situation. However, here goes the truth as we experienced it. Our arrival on the 22nd of March approx 3:30 PM. The heat was off in the unit. It was 53 degrees inside so we were only uncomfortable for four or five hours.
When we arrived there was a smell that permeated the downstairs area. Our search narrowed it to one of the downstairs bathrooms. It had a dead animal smell that was so pungent that it literally would make you throw up. We sealed it off and tried to get in touch with the owner. No reply to phone nor text. Many more text and emails and on the third day of our visit communications were connected. We were told by the owner his phone reception had been bad. He indicated that the cleaning people must have turned the heat off. He informed us he would have someone address the smell. The dead smell had now been two days and getting more pungent. Third day same as two days prior. The owner informed us again he would have someone come and handle our situation. On the forth day those of us staying downstairs still having to share one bathroom which was most inconvenient. Continuation of having to deal with our dead friends in the other bathroom. We were informed that someone would be there "tomorrow" and handle our situation. Of a six day stay we were able to enjoy the comforts that this unit amply provided only one night. We checked out return to North Carolina. Is refund warranted
Better luck next time.
A lovely, memory making experience in the snow for 3 generations! The chalet is huge and everything you expect and more. The level 2 EV charger is a HUGE bonus! We didn't have to worry about charging our electric truck for traveling through Tahoe or our travels home. Also, our beloved family dog was able to come with us. The chalet is basically dog proof, with a gate provided for the stairs. We will be back next year.
The house was perfect for our group. Beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed. The kids were able to play at the backyard with the snow. Close to everything and easy drive.
The house was lovely. More than enough room and spaces for everyone. Down the street was an open meadow great for snow shoeing or hiking. Convenient to the casinos, restaurants, snowshoeing or skiing. We had a wonderful stay.
Calling the place a "cottage" is severely underselling it. It was more like a large, wonderfully rustic escape!
Like in the song from Disney's Aladdin, around every turn was a surprise, starting with the spacious 2-car garage, then winding up the stairs to the first floor, and then up the second set of stairs to the second floor. Heated stone floors on the first floor; carpet on the second. The kids spent the time that the dads used to unload the cars to explore the entirety of the house, and ended up in the upstairs fun / game room. Meanwhile, my spouse had comfortably set up her workstation in the loft and confirmed the internet connection to be reliable and fast.
The kitchen was well equipped with a large island, a great Viking Professional gas stove, and large dining table. We had lots of space to put our things and enough sleeping areas for everyone. The casual reading on hand ranged from fun kids books (Horton Hatches an Egg) to thrillers by Dean Koontz and Tom Clancy to more technical material for those who wanted to learn something while on retreat.
The host was very communicative throughout and helpfully answered questions we had. Unfortunately we didn't get to take advantage of the entertainment amenities or the hot tubs.
One caveat I'd call out for families with young kids is that the common areas (living room and game room) had tables with glass tops. Also, given the winter weather outside, the air felt a bit dry.

About the host

My family has worked in the travel industry for more than 30 years. We love to travel, so we have rented homes on this website and other websites all over the world. Because we are visiting other places as well as Lake Tahoe, we have the time to rent our Jicarilla Chalet for others to enjoy. We love to have family reunions here whenever possible. Lake Tahoe is a fabulous year round destination!
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this property 30 years ago, because of all the beautiful pine trees and the forest at the end of our street. When we retired we completely remodeled it. It originally was a small A frame home and we turned it into a 2,400 square foot home with a large deck to capture the views of the mountains.
