About this property
Secluded Chatham Cottage Near Hardings Beach
Welcome to our totally updated 'old Cape' style cottage. Guests have access to a wide variety of indoor, outdoor, and beach amenities.
The Space: Designed for today's living while retaining its 'old Cape' charm, the sunny, open spaces and updated amenities will allow you to effortlessly enjoy your vacation. Available year-round whether to relax at the beach, to celebrate holidays, or just as an off-season get away.
The comfortable living space encourages everyone to gather for a spirited game of Chathamopoly or to snuggle in for a night at the movies. Here you’ll find a 42” TV, wireless internet, books, and games.
The gourmet kitchen features a large island and is outfitted with stainless steel appliances, dishwasher, microwave, and professional cookware.
Each bedroom is uniquely decorated. There is an elegant couples retreat with a queen bed. A bright room with two twin beds that celebrates the beach cottage theme. Finally, feel like you're sleeping aboard a sailing vessel with the nautical themed twin over full bunk bed.
Keep the beach clutter and laundry contained in the back 'sandroom' with a full-size washer/dryer and easy access to the outdoor shower that has both hot and cold running water.
Central heating and air conditioning keeps the cottage comfortable regardless of the weather.
Included in the cost is a linen service providing fresh bed linens and bath towels. Other essentials like comforters/blankets, pillows, paper goods, and cleaning products are also provided, but remember to bring your own beach towels.
Outside: Outdoors there is a large lawn for games, a sunny patio with ample seating and both a gas and charcoal grill, a covered front porch, and off-street parking. For the beach there are several chairs, a beach umbrella, and umbrella anchor in the basement.
The large 1/2 acre lot is wooded on 3 sides, offering a fantastic sense of privacy, but the yard stays sunny and is great place for games or a round of tag.
A large bluestone patio right off the kitchen catches the warm afternoon sun and offers ample seating for entertaining. Fix a drink and unwind while cooking the catch of the day on either the gas or charcoal grill.
For the security of our guests and the safety of our home, there is a single exterior security camera strategically positioned to monitor the driveway and front walk only. Guest privacy is maintained on the rest of the property. There are no interior cameras.
The Neighborhood: The cottage is tucked away on a quiet, private street, but remains close to everything wonderful that Chatham and the Cape have to offer!
One of the best beaches on the Sound, Hardings Beach, is less than 1 mile away. There is sidewalk access from our cottage to the beach for a safe walk or bike ride. We are also just a short drive to the other beaches on Nantucket Sound, Oyster Pond, or School House Pond, which is one of the nicest fresh water ponds in the area.
For bikers it is easy to pick up the Old Colony Rail trail to Harwich where it connects to the Cape Cod rail trail that runs 22 miles from Dennis to Wellfleet.
The charming Main Street of Chatham Village is less than 2 miles east on Rte 28. Harwichport is a few miles west. Both favorite spots for a day of shopping or a night out.
House Rules: The first rule is always to relax and have fun! To continue to keep the cottage enjoyable for everyone we also ask that you: - Do not smoke - Do not bring your pets (sorry, but we have allergies) - Be respectful of our neighbors as several live here full time - Leave the cottage clean and organized when you depart; Dispose of all remaining food and place garbage in the outside bin; Load, run and empty the dishwasher; Strip the bed linens, gather used bath towels, and place on the floor for the linen service - Report any damages or concerns to the Owners so that we may address the issues.

Lovely place to stay with all the comfort and accommodations of home in a quiet neighborhood but with easy access to restaurants, beaches and downtown Chatham. Highly recommend.
The house way the perfect layout for a great family vacation. My kids loved the bunk room, the kitchen was a great size and had an eat-in large table which was so helpful for family meals. We truly enjoyed our stay in this home and would love to rent it again next year.
Neighborhood was quite but convenient for our tip to Nantucket ferry, Providence and Plymouth. It was and modestly decorated and loved the outdoor shower. It would be helpful
We had such a wonderful visit to Chatham and staying in this home made it all possible. Everything was clean and instructions were clear. The location of the home was just right for us and all that we wanted to do. We would certainly stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Chatham. The owner, Mike, was very responsive to any questions that we had. The house is well maintained and in a great location. We would highly recommend staying at this residence.
Loved this sweet cottage near downtown Chatham and beaches. Perfectly appointed and fit our needs perfectly. The resident bunnies that live in the hydrangea bushes were a plus!
This was an excellent place to stay with our family. Mike was very communicative. He provided plenty of information about caring for the house and things to do or eat while staying.
The house is on a quiet street with easy access to Hardings beach and the main road to downtown Chatham. Our family enjoyed our stay and will try to book here again if we are ever in the area for vacation again.
The house had everything we needed for our stay. The house is secluded in a neighborhood and therefore very quiet. The owner responded quickly when we reported a local power outage.
This was the most well appointed VRBO I’ve ever stayed at! Excellent location, incredibly clean & has everything you could need. The layout is fantastic, the beds & linens are top quality and it’s secluded and private. Hosts are wonderful and responsive. 10/10 experience!
We've been renting in Cape Cod for the past decade and no house we've rented has been as lovely and well-supplied (especially in the kitchen) as this one. A great find that's also pretty secluded.
The house is updated and adorable. Very clean and cozy. Being on a private street was great for biking with my daughter- minimal cars passing through. There were plenty of towels, linens etc.
love, loved it!! Perfect!
Property was exactly as described. It was absolutely perfect and well stocked with everything we could probably need. There were tons of games & puzzles which my 8 year old loved. The beds were comfortable and the outdoor shower was amazing! I loved that it was tucked away, felt super private. The yard was a great size for playing outside. Location was close to Chatham Center. We loved going to the new coffee shop Hey Joe & Jam. My only thing was that I used their linens and ran out of time for them to completely dry after the wash, not an issue on their part maybe poor planning on mine, but next time I would have just used my own linens to avoid that and be able to enjoy the last morning. Overall it was perfect!
We enjoyed our stay at this well appointed house. It has everything you need for a great vacation. We rented bikes from Dennis Cycle and they delivered. We liked Hardings Beach but also took the Beachcomber water taxi from the fish pier twice and went to Coast Guard beach twice (not on our bikes). We loved Macs for dinner as the food was great and it was so close to the house! The house is very private and the neighborhood is quiet, a nice reprieve from the bustle of downtown Chatham. We will definitely be back!
My friends and I enjoyed our stay at the Chatham cottage. Check in was super simple, the house is in a great location and is very clean. The house is stocked well with items to make your stay easy and enjoyable. The only thing my friends and I would’ve liked was a fire pit outside. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again.
This comfortable, three-bedroom home with an open floor plan was just a 20 minute walk to Hardings Beach and an 8 minute walk to Dunkin. The house was well stocked for our visit with opportunities to cook and dine inside or out. It offered all amenities for a beach vacation—games, books, puzzles, and an internet-enabled tv. Plus, thoughtful touches like totes for carrying towels to the beach. An outdoor shower is also available. It was incredibly hot the week we were there, and it was wonderful having an efficient central air system to keep things cool. The owner was quick to respond to all questions throughout our stay. Highly recommended for families or friends.
The cottage was very nice. It is on a secluded property and very nice and quiet. We had a good time, and really enjoyed our time at the cottage. There were a few things that were different from the listing: check out time, and the folding of bedsheets and laundry. Check out time was changed to 10 instead of 11, and we had to wake up and wash all our bedding and towels, dry them, THEN fold them and place them in the respective rooms. All the dishes had to be cleaned and emptied out of the dishwasher. This we didn’t find to be a problem to do, except when we saw one of the supposedly “clean” mugs in the cupboard was dirty (we didn’t find it till the last day, right when we were busy checking out). These things are that terrible for us as we were in a hurry to get on a flight, but we can’t imagine if one needs to get on a flight the morning of. Otherwise, nice place.
