About the host
Hosted by David Hibbard
Together since 1994, we’ve been fortunate to enjoy the best of both worlds—the energy of New York City and the peaceful calm of lakefront living. We purchased this home in 1997 and have cherished it ever since, creating countless memories with friends and family along the way. As life has grown busier, we’ve decided to open our doors to others, inviting guests to experience and enjoy our little slice of heaven.
Why they chose this property
We set out in search of the perfect lakefront weekend retreat—a peaceful escape from the fast-paced rhythm of Manhattan. Expanding our search across a 75-mile radius from NYC, we focused on motorboat lakes and explored each one, traveling from Connecticut to upstate New York. When we arrived at Upper Greenwood Lake, we knew we had found something special.
Its location proved ideal—just about an hour door-to-door from the city (bridge or tunnel, traffic permitting), offering a rare balance of seclusion and convenience. The area feels wonderfully remote, yet remains close to charming towns, local dining, grocery stores, and even larger retailers when needed.
From the moment we purchased the home, it has provided a relaxed, serene retreat filled with comfort—a true getaway that continues to feel like a world away from it all.
What makes this property unique
