Cabin, private, woods, trails, 2000 Acre Duck Lake, kayaking, concerts
Cottage feel with modern amenities. Township Permit # PSTR 23-049. Perfect for a couple or small family. Pet friendly. One bedroom for two guests plus two age 15 or under, full bath, kitchen and dining area, living room, wood stove, patio, 10x12 deck, fire pit. WIFI, TV Streaming Hulu, air, reverse osmosis tap water. 650 square feet. Lake access 3/10 of a mile, joint access with boat mooring available. Due to swimmers itch swimming is safe waste deep but lengthy wading in the shallow is risky. I have been swimming in Duck Lake for 11 years and have never had swimmers itch, as long as you are careful and towel off the risk is very low. There are areas of the lake where you can wade and play fizbee, etc without concern but you need to boat there, thus a boat or kayak is a great way to enjoy this lake. Interlochen State park and Interlochen Arts Academy 1.5 miles north. State park has a nice beach area and the Arts Academy houses many prominent concerts and performances in multiple art forms. Just a short distance away from Traverse City, MI, host of the National Cherry Festival, Traverse City Film Festival. Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsula's with over 20 vineyards. Many lakes, rivers and beaches within 20 minute radius. Lake Michigan and Sleeping Bear Dunes 30 minutes. Many golf resort opportunities: Grand Traverse Resort, Arcadia Bluffs, Crystal Mountain and many other smaller courses.

I would stay again!Pros: great communication with owner, clean accommodations, relatively easy to find, quiet neighborhood, adequate amenities, furnace quickly took the chill off the home, TVs in living and sleeping areas. I’d call the home “rustic” in nature with a “country” feel.Cons: roads are not well maintained with lots of potholes so take it slow and easy. Short drive on dirt road off paved road to house. Living room furniture is a bit dated but comfortable.Just FYI INFO - I did not use the outdoor furniture (but it looked to be plentiful), the fire pit, indoor wood stove, or freestanding air conditioner.
I stayed here last year for my own writing retreat, and again this year for a poetry workshop at the nearby arts academy. It has started to feel like a home away from home. Very comfortable and a lovely spot.
It was my third time staying and it was just as wonderful as always. Nancy is so accommodating and makes you feel so welcome. This place is the coziest place I’ve ever stayed.
This was a last minute trip for a special family event and Nancy made every moment of it absolutely wonderful. The place is beautiful, cozy, and very clean. Nancy was extremely responsive, accommodating, and went out of her way make us feel taken care of. We extended our trip due to how lovely it was, and then had to extend it again due to car troubles. Admits family gatherings, lots of snow, and a car breakdown - we never had to worry about our accommodations. 10/10, would love to stay again.
Nancy is a great host. Very nice and accomodating. Rental was very clean and had everything we needed for a confortable stay. Highly recommend. Beautiful home and location.
Cottage was as shown. Cute, quiet and my dog loved it too. Lots of walking paths to enjoy as well as chilling in the Adirondack chairs. I will keep this on my revisit list!
Due to unfortunate circumstances from walking into the house and the host aggressive response, we choose to leave immediately and get a hotel. We choose not to return and rebooked another place for the remainder of our stay as we felt unsafe. This experience has left me with a little bit of a hesitation for using this method for future stays.
Soft comfy furniture, well equipped kitchen, full size refrigerator, TV in two rooms, plenty of storage space for clothes, a good size desk, available outlets to plug in and charge. A very quiet neighborhood and beautiful views of the verdant woods surrounding the cabin. Two kayaks are available for guests. So many towels! It all added up to a restful stay!
We stayed for two magnificent nights exploring the Traverse City region during record high heat! The property was cool and welcoming and well outfitted with great thought to weary travelers. This was our first VRBO stay and the ecoer set the bar very high!!! We especially loved the decor and beachfront vibe!
We enjoyed staying at this property while attending a wedding nearby in Traverse City. It was a quite, comfortable place to spend the weekend, communication from the host was great, and we LOVED having access to the kayaks to take out onto the lake. Would recommend and would stay there again if I'm in the area.
This was just a holding place for me while my daughter was at camp, however it was also my first time having a night/nights to myself in years. It was fantastic and everything I needed. Cozy, comfortable, and well stocked. I was concerned about cooking supplies but it was all set I didn't want for anything. Hoping to make this house an annual getaway for me!
Very clean and the location was amazing. Enjoyed kayaking with my husband for the first time on Duck Lake. Perfect summer weekend and very private even with neighbors around. Felt secluded and quiet.
Nancy was quick to respond to questions, and wonderful to let us see include our well behaved doggie in our trip. All was as stated, kayaks and lake are accessible by walking short distance ; the lake is beautiful.. tho state park beach is closed it didn’t stop us from enjoying the lake. Cabin is comfortable, not fancy, but had all needed to enjoy a short stay. Thank you Nancy!
Totally loved this little cabin ... great location to enjoy a concert at Interlochen and then to spend the days traveling through Traverse City and up through Leelanau Peninsula... loved it so much!
We really enjoyed our stay for the 4th of July week. The location was great with some pretty great restaurants nearby. We took our fishing boat and there was enough room to park it and so easy to get to the public boat ramps. Would stay again.

The cabin is in the jungle by the lake, and the air is very fresh and quiet. The room is very comfortable to live in, especially the sofa and bed have a strong sense of wrapping, which is very soft and comfortable. Cooking can be done in the room, and the homeowner also has some seasonings with complete tools. It's worth mentioning that I didn't drive, I walked there. When I asked the landlord to borrow a bicycle, she readily agreed and quickly parked it outside my house. Before leaving, I asked for their help and drove me to a nearby station. They also arrived on time to deliver me to the station. It makes people feel very warm and moved. I will make another reservation and stay next time I have the opportunity.
Our stay was lovely and relaxing. The house is quaint and was located perfectly for the activities we had planned in the area. Nancy made check-in super simple with our little bit later arrival time. Would come back!
Stayed the weekend for a concert at Interlochen which was a 5 min drive . The cottage was perfect for our needs, clean cozy and close . Has everything you could want for a weekend stay communication w host was easy and clear . Despite rainy weather we were able to enjoy the from patio . Quiet , moderately secluded Would definitely stay again!!!!
Clean cabin nestled in the woods. Lots of trees around and great location for walking and relaxing. Not far from main roads, but close to lake and quiet.
