This was a wonderful little gem of a place. Fred and Val are wonderful and tactful hosts - very responsive, kind and at the same you will have your privacy. A view out of the house is spectacular. There are beautiful beaches within the walking distance. Biddeford Pool is a a special place for a quiet family getaway and we would love to come back.
Nice cottage rental. Accurate description. My only issues were there was no outside hose at the house and the washer and dryer were not located at the house either.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
The location is fabulous. The cottage itself had dirty carpet, dirty windows and window sills, mold in the bath and a strong smell of mildew mixed with carpet deodorants. Also I was taken aback to discover at check in that no linens were provided, which was a disappointment considering the cost. The hosts were very nice.
The cottage is situated at the end of a dead end street on top of a hill that overlooks the gorgeous ocean. The cottage was perfect size for my spouse and me and our dog and provided ample privacy. We worked from home here for two weeks. The neighborhood is very tight knit and friendly. Biddeford Pool is a rather sleepy town but we enjoyed long walks on the beach and taking in the views of the beautiful homes and gardens of the neighbors.
Absolutely wonderful cottage on private compound so no traffic. Beautiful ocean view up on a hill. Sunsets short walk to beach cove. Swim right off shore - low tide can walk out to rock outcrops. Fred and Valerie lovey people and so gracious. Spent a month here and it felt like home. Area beaches have great waves but not crowded. Walking in the area was so peaceful -quaint Quiet Maine coastal village. Thank you for wonderful memeories and new friendships!
Thank you, Fred and Val. Even with imperfect weather, we couldn't ask for anything else. Scout & I loved our daily walks on the beach at low tide. We enjoyed bike rides and several mini-road trips to surrounding areas. With just the two of us (plus pooch so 2.5 total), it was more than sufficient for our needs. The House on the Hill is simple, clean, comfortable, and just right. We love BP!
The home was lovely. A quaint 2 bedroom with a great living room. We loved it. The hosts Fred and Valerie could not have been nicer, but while they were available anytime, we almost never saw them. The house is on a hill in a idyllic setting on the coast. You wake up to a water view. Would live there if Fred would let me. :-)
The weather was a bit less cooperative than we would have liked (to be expected, in June!...) -- but we nevertheless enjoyed our stay at the Hills House, and so much enjoyed meeting the owners, Fred & Val, while there! The location is fantastic, with easy (= walking distance!) access to a beautiful beach, nature trails, and all of the nearby Kennebunks... We are also especially thankful that our beloved cat was welcome as well (why are so few places accepting cats, only dogs?...:) Thanks, and keep in touch!
We had a wonderful stay at Hill House! Fred, the owner, is absolutely lovely and made the whole experience better than ever with easy communication and assistance when/if need be. He even texted us on the day of our arrival to let us know that the cleaning staff had finished early and that we could come anytime! The cottage was perfect for our needs and the semi-private beach is beautiful and was wonderful for those hours when dogs are not allowed on the larger public beaches. The view from Hill House is truly second to none and we absolutely loved the location! It is the perfect distance from the general store and the beach and it is incredibly quiet and private! A true gem. We all (my husband, myself and our dog) enjoyed every moment of our time there and we hope to return next summer for another wonderful vacation. Thank you again, Fred! See you next summer :)
Fred and his Wife could’ve not been more lovely the property is absolutely beautiful well-kept everything that it describes is true just said we only stay one week next year for sure two weeks if it more..Thank you Fred for your hospitality enjoyed meeting you and thanks for a wonderful wonderful vacation
This was our second year staying here and we are already counting down the days until next year. The views and the private beach are amazing. The owners could not be more accommodating. We highly recommend this house
We enjoyed our stay and the home was perfect for the two of us and our dog. Everything we needed, with a beautiful view from the living room overlooking the bay, a no-frills but perfectly adequate kitchen, and two small bedrooms. The area is great for walking, biking, and kayaking (wish I had brought mine!) and the beaches are nothing short of spectacular. Very convenient to Portland, Freeport, and points south. Thank you for letting us enjoy a week of much needed rest and relaxation!
Small, simple and easy peasy cottage. Private location and view are tops. Minutes from Cape Porpoise and Kpt. Walk, bike or drive and pay to park at uncrowded, clean sandy beach where you can walk for miles—or poke around sweet village w a food store and a gift shop. Period. Excellent communication w owners who couldn’t be nicer. Loved my week, and will look forward to my next stay! 🦞
The location of this property is superb and the view seen from the living room and the outside was lovely. It was within walking distance of a grocery store and restaurant as well as a beach and nature trail. The cabin itself could benefit from some updating and TLC. Very hospitable hosts.
This property was just what we needed for our family. It’s set up in a way that feels completely private while offering stunning views of the ocean that is basically the front yard.
The Hill House had everything we needed for a family with 2 young children. From lobster dinners to milk shakes we had everything we needed. It was great to just stay home, relax and take in the views. It’s far enough off the beaten path to offer peace and quiet while still being close enough to all the local attractions.
I loved this sweet, authentic cottage in Beautiful Biddeford Pool. Fabulous location, walking distance to village market, Audoubon trails and long, sandy beach. Incredible view, long, sweeping lawn for the dog, privacy and kind and helpful owners. I wish I were one of them

Amazing time! great beach and host
The house worked out perfectly for us. Not many rentals have king beds which was nice, and you had access to the beach which is also hard to find. Fred was incredibly helpful and friendly whenever we had questions. He even offered to dog sit one day, when we had to leave unexpectedly for the day. We look forward to staying there next year.

Outstanding view, great privacy, responsive owner
Our stay was for 10/11-15/2017. We chose the property for its location (close to relatives we were visiting) and reasonable price. The cottage is very rustic, with no furnace, a very small shower, and dated electrical service with fuses and lots of extension cords. Being mid-October, the nights were cool, but the portable heaters provided kept us warm. Unfortunately, the electrical system could only handle one heater at a time. A blown fuse was promptly replaced, and the owner provided extra blankets on his own initiative. We also had some furry visitors. The owner offered to provide traps, but, not wanting to deal with them, we declined. The location is spectacular. Outstanding view, lots of areas to walk/hike, close to Biddeford and Saco. The owner, who lives on-site, was also very good, affording us plenty of privacy and being responsive to our requests. Now that we know more of the amenities, we would probably stay again, but would have packed a little differently (warmer clothes, fewer electronic gadgets).

Loved it!
The location was beautiful and it was the perfect antidote to the stress of the city. Loved the view, the proximity to two beaches, the birds, and the amenities of the village. The cottage had everything we needed.

The view is Maine perfection!
We LOVED LOVED LOVED our stay here in Biddeford Pool Maine at Harborside Estates. The owner, Fred, was super-responsive to any questions we had and demonstrated the utmost hospitality. There were fresh flowers in a vase when we arrived and the property was spotless!!
The property was so private, peaceful and quiet both during the day and the evening, with a quick walk to a private beach and a five minute walk to the adorable General Store Golthwaite's, which also includes a restaurant with outdoor seating and an amazing view. Our stay included 2 dogs who were welcomed enthusiastically, and we definitely plan to return next summer!! The whole neighborhood is incredibly dog-friendly and we saw people with dogs everywhere!
This property was well equipped with all kitchen glassware and utilities that one could need. There were plenty of pots and pans, lobster crackers (a MUST for anyone renting in Maine), plates, bowls, coffee cups, glasses, blender, coffeemaker, microwave, etc. There were cleaning supplies, soap/shampoo, and paper products available on our arrival as well in addition to the linens.
A few things to know-1) The washer and dryer are a shared amenity with the cottage next door and are not located in the actual home, but in a shed attatched to the rental property next door. We didn't end up using them, but it is something that is good to know. 2) This is an older property that has been updated, but still needs some updates such as bedroom windows, which were difficult to open/close at times, and the toilet would run periodially.
But the VIEW. The view made up for any minor drawbacks. You can sit in the livingroom or in the front yard, and just drink in the view of the gorgeous Maine coastline, and smell the fresh sea air.
I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for peace, quiet, relaxation, and a laid-back, oceanfront location to escape the stress of everyday life.
