Lake James
Lake James is a 7000 acre, pristine mountain lake, located in western North Carolina. Adjacent to the Blue Ridge Mountains and Linville Gorge, the lake offers sparkling clear water, boating, waterskiing, tubing, sailing, diving, camping, and fishing for largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, crappie, catfish, white bass and bream. A water quality study by the TVA showed the lake water to be the cleanest and purest of any lake they have ever tested. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful lakes in the Eastern US, and served as the location for the movies 'Last of the Mohicans' and 'Hunt for Red October.'

Such a quiet relaxing dock in a cove off the main lake traffic (which was light in October anyway!) Coffee on the dock watching the sunrise is awesome.

Glad you were able to return this year and look forward to hosting you next year. Regards.
Everything was awesome and will stay there again. I was not pleased with the TV/Roku. It worked for a little then could not get it to change channels of anything else but we both read so it worked out.
Loved the property and the views are great. Exactly what we were looking for. The covered boat dock is fantastic. We spent all our time on it. We’ll be coming back

What an amazing property. We absolutely loved the cottage, the do and the neighborhood. The house was perfect for us to relax and reconnect since our family is so spread out now. The property was clean and quaint. The owners were amazing, and helpful.

Thank you Dawn. It was a pleasure to meet and host your family. Hope you can return!
Great lakefront cottage! Location was in a quiet cove with views of the main channel and mountains. The family loved the dock and we ate nearly all meals out there overlooking the water. Large screen porch and deep water dock increases the living space. The communication and check in process was exceptional. Can’t wait to return.

We had a good time. Cute little house on the lake with a boat dock. The view was really nice. The neighborhood was quiet. The fishing wasn’t great, but I can’t blame that on the house. We had 6 people (4 adults and 2 children) and that is definitely the upper limit. Anymore and it would have been too crowded.
This was the perfect cottage for our group of 3 couples.
Very well equipped and clean. The dock was our hangout, but the two porches got plenty of use too!
This lake house has it's priorities straight! Great lake views, great dock with a Swing,
little beach area, with ming

This was the most beautiful and convenient lake cottage. We had a wonderful time. We were able to bring our own boat to the dock. There was plenty of room for the six of us. The windows are huge and amazing. Our host couldn’t have been more accommodating. We made memories with our family that’ll last a lifetime. And the Glenn family will return again and again. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Raynor!

A family that loves the water!
Why they chose this property
Making family memories is what we love most about Lake James. But, people come here for lots of different reasons--serenity, beauty, nature, friendly people, low crime, clean air and water, low cost of living. Many of our guests come to explore the area for a possible real estate purchase.
What makes this property unique
Our lake is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful lakes in the entire U.S. People from all over the country have chosen to vacation and retire here. In addition to its beauty and cleanliness, the lake is not very crowded and boat traffic is significantly lighter than on many large reservoirs--making it safer to be on the water, and quieter and more pleasant when on shore.
