Set on a beautiful seven acres of wooded hillside, Homestead Hideaway offers you a unique opportunity to rest and relax within a peaceful setting. Located just 15 Miles from Galena, Illinois, our cabins in the woods can be your home away from home while you enjoy Galena, Chestnut Mountain, hiking, wineries, and all the other amenities Jo Daviess County has to offer.

When you stay at Homestead Hideaway, you can simply relax in our cozy rustic cabins, or get out and enjoy everything the area has to offer. At Homestead Hideaway you can expect a tranquil feel and a stress free retreat. The cabins are located in a beautiful rural area where it is perfect to have a cup of coffee or tea in the mornings and enjoy the wildlife. Let our cabins be a place to unplug from the world and help ensure you have a relaxed and secluded stay. We have fiber Internet, but do not have cable TV.

We have two historic cottages located on the property and three separate rentals. The cabins are located on opposite ends of the property. You can enjoy the seven acres of wooded area by hiking or taking your dog for a walk. Whether you are planning a romantic trip to Galena, a golfing trip, a couple’s getaway, a wine lovers weekend, or skiing at Chestnut Mountain during the winter months, Homestead Hideaway will accommodate to your needs.

We have decided to go beyond the brochure advertising and word of mouth and work with VRBO for our rentals. Do not hesitate to ask any questions.

The Gleneagle Suite is our honeymoon/weekend getaway suite. It is a studio style rental. It is the bottom unit of our cabin with the Seven Sisters Suite. It has a full kitchen, living area, dining area, bathroom and a full size bed in a studio style setting. The sofa in the Living area is a sofa sleeper --so this rental could accommodate 4 guests.

The top two levels of this cabin is our Seven Sisters Suite which is also listed on VRBO #623038 & our other cabin on the property is listed as the Brimeyer Cabin vrbo #624141

Though cell service can be spotty, there is fiber internet.

We have passes available for ACL Nixon beach (15 minute drive) and ACL pool. Open memorial day- labor day each year. You must speak to host prior to arrival for information. You must have tags and parking passes for these amenities and there is a fee from security deposit IF YOU LOST TAGS

It was in the beautiful countryside, awesome views. bed was very comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was great. Very peaceful, lots of nature, saw wild turkeys and Black Angus cattle. Cozy cabin hideaway to refresh.

Had a great stay and exactly what we needed. The peace and quiet while drinking coffee in the morning outside and the evenings with the fire pit were just perfect. The cabin was very cute and cozy. Would love to come back in the winter.

Relaxing Getaway

This place is a hidden gem. My wife, dog, and I had a great weekend trip to Galena. Galena is a great town with plenty of things to do but we found ourselves more excited to come back to the cabin and relax by the wood burning stove. The entire property is beautiful and well maintained. The host is kind, helpful, and responsive! We can’t wait to book another trip back.

A very cozy cabin, nice and secluded for a quiet weekend. The furniture and amenities were comfortable and easy to use. The only thing lacking was a closet for hanging clothes. The kitchen was well stocked and everything was very clean.

Great for a weekend getaway!

My partner and I had a wonderful long weekend stay in the cabin. It is very secluded with little to no cell service. We were not surprised by it, this information was given beforehand by the host. That being said the movies that were provided were greatly appreciated. There was good selection of different genres. There is a landline in case of any emergency. Overall we had a very relaxing weekend. It was an amazing opportunity to completely disconnect and enjoy some time together.

Great private get away retreat

We booked this property for an extended weekend, good location 20 minutes from Galena but away from the hustle and bustle. The privacy and serenity of the location was great. Home was perfect with a big dining table, comfy bed, and kitchen with all we needed to prepare our own meals. Cell phone coverage is very spotty so beware. Special bonus for those looking to do a little cycling. Some great roads and hills right out the front door!

Reset yourself with this get away...

This cabin and it's host is great. Beautiful cabin in a secluded area. Whether your looking for a an adventure or a relaxing getaway, this cabin has everything you need. Grill some food and listen to the cows moo in the distance. Sit on the second floor deck and watch the deer travel through the forest in the morning. Enjoy the howling of coyotes by night. Go hike the Mines of Spain and watch the eagles from the tops of the trees. Tour downtown Galena for fun things and good eats. Feel shut off from society and technology. Highly recommend.

Quiet Star filled getaway

Quaint old cabin in hill country. Stone walls. Adequate kitchen and charcoal grill. 20 minutes from everything we wanted to see and beautiful roads. Must be fabulous when greenery is lush or fall colours.

Perfect way to disconnect!

This property is in the perfect location to disconnect from the outside world and take time to reconnect with each other! No internet made the perfect way to spend a weekend together, but not far from Galena where there is plenty to experience. Would recommend this to anyone!
