PLEASE NOTE: our four cabins in Grand Lake and Estes Park are a 35 year family business. We are not a hotel, we do our best to make sure that every guest and group are happy. The cabins are in the mountains and therefore small furry and crawly friends may visit from time to time, especially in the late fall. All of our cabins are NO SMOKING inside or on the decks and patios, the Rocky Mountains are under constant fire danger and our cabins are all made of wood. We also want to respect the smells and preferences of other guests. If our onsite managers smell smoke of any type then the entire deposit is forfeit. Our cabins in Estes Park are on well systems. That means the sinks can have streaks when clean and the HOT TUBS can be off color as the minerals react with the cleaning chemicals. The water is safe to drink and clean! PETS are allowed in BOTH cabins, however, we only cater to dogs and only very well behaved ones. This cabin can have 1 dog, the other only 2. Please keep dogs crated when not home. We do not have dog runs at this time. Please clean up after dogs. We require an additional cleaning fee for pet dander and rug shampoo so that our allergic guests are also happy. This does not cover cleaning up after dogs outside. Please clean up after your dogs. We charge a $50 pet fee for EACH dog that is not usually reflected in the price quote. FIRE: wood burning is not allowed in Estes Park vacation rentals inside or outside so there are heated electric fireplaces on both floors. PARKING: the driveways are large and we visibly have room for 6 vehicles at each house BUT ARE RESTRICTED TO 3-4 due to city code, if you have more than that we are happy to help you find alternative off-site places to park. CAMERAS: we have live closed circuit cameras on the driveways, the main decks, and the water front. These are for safety and security and are only accessed by the owner. There are no recording devices anywhere inside the cabins
CANCELLATION POLICY: We keep a non-refundable fee of 10% if the reservations is cancelled within 6 months of check-in 50% if cancelled within 90 days 100% if cancelled within 30 days. Our cabins book a year out, it's more difficult to make last minute arrangements so VRBO recommends getting their insurance against cancelations for medical and other last minute issues.

A true hidden gem. All stress of traveling, hoiidays, really just life in general, just disappeared upon entering this beautiful home. Never felt guilty for spending a day or two in the house watching movies and not leaving. Family of deer even came to visit. Home was stocked well and ready for our family. Already planning our next visit. Highly recommend this home for your visit to Estes park.
The views from this house are stunning! We enjoyed the deck, grill and proximity to Estes Lake. Since we were in town for a wedding we rented both cabins and this was a a great advantage. The house is very spacious and well equipped. We loved the large kitchen table and seating area which was all open to the kitchen. There was a Pack and Play and high chair and kids books and toys which we appreciated. You can also hop onto the walking trail right out the door which is a 3.8 mile loop around the lake. For our family this was a memorable stay and we would return.
Loved the location. Loved the views from any location on the deck! July 4th fireworks were awesome. Hot tub amazing in the evening. Outdoor grill and family-sized dining table provided perfect setting. We will stay here again!
Had a lovely stay. Gorgeous views all over the house of the lake and I can’t wait to return. Really enjoyed the lower level movie room. Hot tub had some amazing views. Very spacious house. Only suggestion would be to provide toilet paper, trash bags, and larger glasses.
This is such a great spot! This was our first time in Estes Park and we were looking for a social distancing getaway with our fur babies and friends. Even though this is very close to the main road, you do not notice at all. The views are spectacular, the house is perfect for a larger group and the house was fully stocked with literally every item you might need! We had a small issue with one of the showers and the owner came and fixed it immediately, plus gave us a sweet New Years gift for the kids and adults! We will definitely be back and would totally recommend this to anyone looking for relaxing getaway!
This home worked out really well for us—a wonderful space over the Christmas holiday for our adult family of 8.
Owner, Mike, was super helpful—as was his dad who lives nearby.
With vacation rentals you sometimes wonder what property the owner was thinking when they wrote the description, but not so with this one. It was accurately described and pictured—maybe even undersold. As often is the case with rentals that get used a lot there were a few nits, but nothing that appreciably affected our stay.
Views are spectacular, space is generous and functional, and owner communication and support was outstanding. Thanks, Mike, for helping us build some wonderful memories with our family!
The 180 degree views from both living rooms are great, as are the ones from the decks adjoining them.
The property itself has a strong rustic look and feel and is easy to relax in. It's a short drive from the free parking near downtown and a pleasant walk if you're so inclined.
The only concerns our group encountered were the difference in the hot tub available off the general list versus what one sees after booking, and that the water filter seemed to be in need of replacing.
A minor note: the end of the driveway where you park is particularly soft, which was a problem for the lone motorcycle that made the trip, but it was able to be parked up the driveway without issue.

Best Mini Vacation stay EVER!
When my family and I first walked into this cabin- ours jaws dropped and were rendered practically speechless by the absolute charm inside the cabin... then completely blows away by the spectacular views of being directly above the lake and direct views of Rocky Mtn National Park's mountains! The cabin itself felt so tastefully decorated with the perfect amount of mountain charm. Coziness oozed from every room here and it didn't matter if we were outside relaxing on the wrap around deck, sitting at the dinner table or cooking a meal in the kitchen - we were constantly reminded by that breath-taking scenery- we weren't in anything but a true mountain get-a-way retreat!
We sure can't wait to come back again soon and feel the true taste of experiencing Estes Park at its finest. We may only live an hour and a half away in Golden, Colorado but talk about the perfect family get away and reminder why living in Colorado can be such a magical place to live.

We loved hosting your family! Thank you so much for the photo of the cabin from the lake as well as the cute family photo! It's wonderful to see families creating happy memories, that has been our aim of building this cabin as a vacation destination!
We hope to see you soon!

Nice House - not great experience
We just returned from our Colorado escape from quarantine in Estes Park at Lake Haus. And, while the house itself is very nice and quite spacious - even quite updated and the view of the lake is spectacular, there were several things about this house that would make us not recommend for future rentals. The main reason was the number of mice in and around the house due to the large piles of construction debris that is stored in the driveway and along the non-lake side of the property. We should have known when we found mice-traps placed around the house that it might be an issue. We had to dispose of two of them that were caught ourselves. Also, Mike was not very responsive. I had tried to contact him weeks in advance about our intention to bring a dog along on our trip and never received a response (just noticed after the fact that we were charged for the dog, but with no notification that was happening), even after multiple attempts to connect. We also did not receive lock/access instructions to the property until we drove into town the day of our arrival (again, multiple attempts to get hold of Mike and get the info, with his voicemail greeting stating that he was "Out of the country") - Mike did call my cell phone and provided the instructions as we were driving around Estes Park before check-in time, stating that he would follow up with an email - which we never received. The final issue with this house is the proximity to the main highway going into Estes Park itself, as it runs along side the property so what might be a peaceful lake-front time on the extended deck (which is a very nice deck with a hot-tub, which was nice but the cover was broken so you could only open it half-way), was not relaxing due to the excessive noise from passing traffic.
All and all, I would not recommend this house for anyone looking for a relaxing mountain/lakefront escape.
Great place, easy to find and check in. We rented both homes on the property for a family reunion and we loved them! The view is gorgeous and the houses were more than large enough. We had a couple issues: we saw several mice inside the larger house, one of the ovens was not working, and the property manager did not communicate as readily as we would have liked (I reached out on VRBO to the property manager about these issues and didn't hear a reply).
Otherwise, a great place for family gatherings and we were very happy with our selection of these properties.
We came for my daughter's graduation. We booked both cabins. The views are breath taking. More than enough space with both cabins. The full kitchen and games were perfect. Thank you!!!
Great scenery of the lake and mountains. Plenty of room. Owner very responsive to texts. Only negative would be some areas of house in need of repair/updating.
Amazing property. Two levels of wraparound porch with incredible views of the lake and mountains. Excellent set up for a large group-- ample seating both upstairs and downstairs for our group of nine. Easy access to great hikes-- we did the gem lake trail a short eight minute drive away. Hope we can return sometime!
The view from the deck is incredible!! Definitely my favorite feature of the property.
Otherwise very comfortable beds and seating - room to spread out which was great!
We loved it!
Spent Christmas with family at this property. Large great room/kitchen was perfect for visiting/eating/playing games. Absolutely incredible views overlooking Lake Estes. And, it snowed just enough to have a white Christmas!
It was very nice. The views were fantastic. We had all the room we needed for everyone, including 3 boys. Hope to be able to go back next Christmas.

Great View but wouldn't stay again
Pros - Great view of lake and location and room for the family.
Cons- Seems to be a long version of a remodel. Lots of things that need repair or are broken (bathtub won't hold water, screen doors are broken and won't close properly, and numerous other issues. Owner uses part of property for construction storage. Yard is unkept. Basement smells like urine (complained to owner but never heard back). Not enough glasses and silverware for everyone to use if eating in. Pots and pans are dirty and uncleaned.
For the price, we've stayed in much nicer... but the view of the lake is tremendous.

About the host
Hosted by Mike Thomas
Our family has been in Estes, Grand Lake, and Rocky Mountain National Park since the 50s. We have had a family rental cabin at Lemmon Lodge in Grand Lake since 1986 and cabins in Estes Park since 1999. We love the area more than anywhere else on Earth. Rocky Mountain National Park will always be the center of our Colorado home.
Why they chose this property
This cabin is made for families: birthday parties, reunions and family gatherings of 8 persons or 20 between the two cabins. We love to help make memories and appreciate guests who come back year after year. Our goal is that every stay in the Rockies is unique and wonderful, and that we can share our love of the mountains with other families and new friends.
What makes this property unique
The views are stunning, as are the different seasons and the amazing wildlife that makes the area its home. We have unobstructed views of nature, regular visits from bald eagles and elk in the yard.
