Young's Cottage or "Tigh na Meala" on the Wild Atlantic Way Dingle Peninsula
"Tigh na Meala" is the Irish for "House of honey" which was the original name of this two-storey cottage, stunningly situated on the Atlantic coast 10 min outside of Dingle town in the direction of Feothanach, Ballydavid and Brandon Creek. There are three bedrooms, one with a double bed( master), one with a bunk bed (two singles) and one with a double bed and single bunk (sleeps 7 total). The beautifully renovated farm house has a large kitchen and living room with a traditional fireplace including the original antique iron crane (see photo). There is a cosy bathroom downstairs with bath/shower and a toilet upstairs as well. The breathtaking view from the front of the house looks directly out on Smerwick Harbour to the south and to the West lie the Three Sisters and the Atlantic horizon. To the east is Ireland's second highest mountain, Mt. Brandon, climbed by Celtic/Christian pilgrims since the early Middle Ages. Also visible in the distance are the hills of Great Blasket Island. Total privacy, a cosy house facing the North Atlantic & proximity to Dingle's lively pub scene are what this house offers.

Try to leave the house tidy as you found it especially the kitchen with utensils washed and stowed away. Thank you very much

Gorgeous location, homely cottage. Had a quick dip in the sea! Great kitchen, lovely bath. Bit tricky to find in the dark, but loved our stay. Diolch/Thanks
If I could rate this darling cottage and its incredible hostess higher, I would. This darling place is absolutely magical. Kathleen, the hostess, is an angel. Kathleen thought of everything and every convenience to have to make your stay so amazing. I kept extending my stay because I did not want to leave this adorable cottage and its gorgeous setting. I literally cried as I drove away. I have never stayed in a place that has brought so much peace to my soul and spirit. It was beyond anything I can even imagine. It was like living in a dream. When I come back to Ireland, this is where I want to find myself. The pictures are beautiful, but they don’t even do it justice. No place I have ever been compares to Young’s Cottage and I have never engaged with such a wonderful hostess. I feel so blessed that I was lucky enough to have found this precious place. It is outstanding and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for such a unique experience in Ireland. Thank you so much Kathleen!! I will always cherish my time at Young’s Cottage!!
Very tasteful and personal cottage that makes you feel at home from the first moment. The house is very well equipped, and every single room has a comfortable and friendly atmosphere magnificent sights on sea and landscape.
We had everything we needed here for a long, nearly 3 month stay. The upper rooms were warm and comfortable. The kitchen was ample. We loved, loved, loved the location of this particular cottage. It's unique. If you hike up Mt. Brandon you can see the beauty of this particular location just above Feotanaugh Bay. We had various family visit during our near 3-month stay at this property. They were comfortable and appreciated the updated bathroom facilities as well as the kitchen, which had a very strong modern oven. Some days you look out and see mist hanging over the bay, or you might see Eoghan, the cattle farmer moving his herd. Don't miss the ring fort of prehistory, just a few hundred yards from the property.
We loved everything about our stay at Young's Cottage. While exploring the whole peninsular we saw amazing views at every turn. But at the end of each day, we both believe the best views were those from our front yard. The house had everything we needed, host were very responsive and we will be back to stay here again.
What a special trip our entire family had! The location is breathtaking and the cottage provided a comfortable and quiet home base for our weeklong trip. We are so grateful for the chance to stay in such a lovely home, and can't wait to come back!
We had a great time staying at the property. The views were amazing and the cottage was ideally located outside Dingle where you could travel easily around Slea Head.
We enjoyed this cottage as our home base for exploring the Dingle peninsula. It is the classic Irish stone cottage, with a vastly upgraded kitchen. Please note there is no wifi, or tv, this is a place to unplug and enjoy the surroundings. Make sure you hike up the hill behind the house to see the crumbling castle and marvel at the cliffs descending to the wild Atlantic below.
We enjoyed our 3 nights at the cottage. Lots of room, lots of charm, and a good value. We stayed at lots of high end, expensive, small B&B’s this trip, and this was a nice, relaxing break to get away from all the people and traffic.
Thank you for a fantastic stay at your cottage. It had all the facilities needed for a real break away.
The location was just right to explore the Dingle peninsula.

About the host
Hosted by Kathleen Dineen Young
I am originally from County Cork. I grew up in an irish speaking family and we spent our childhood holidays in West Kerry. I fell in love with the area and the cottage is now my family holiday home with my three sons. The area is an inspiration for me as a singer with the area`s rich irish traditional music culture.
Why they chose this property
The cottage is a unique location with total privacy and stunning uninterrupted views of Smerwich Harbour and the Atlantic ocean. Winter or summer, it is a beautiful warm, quiet and peaceful place to be.
What makes this property unique
It is a traditional house maintaining its original character with wooden beams and stone floors. There is a feeling of going back 100 years in time. For me it is the only place in the world where time stands still and one can forget all the stress of work and modern living.
