Booking for 2026! At beach access with lifeguard!Fenced in yard & screened porch

This charming (non-smoking) 3 bedroom, 2 bath cottage has a large fenced in backyard and screened in back porch for that early morning coffee or afternoon beverage. Backyard is sod grass with no briars! Great for small mature families, 3 couples and/or people with difficulty climbing many steps. NO PARTY GROUPS/ NO PETS ! No CHARGING ELECTRIC VEHICLES! Brand new modern kitchen that is fully equipped. New outdoor decks and wonderful living area for the entire family to gather. Outdoor grilling and picnic table are out back for a family crab boil! . Master bedroom has it's own private entrance to the screened porch so you don't disturb your guest if you rise early for that beautiful sunrise over the Atlantic. Large hammock that can be taken out back to soak up the sun! The outdoor shower is also connected to the screened porch so you don't have to go outside to get to it. Also, there is seating on the shaded front porch to kick back in the a.m. First house off beach road and beach access right at a lifeguard stand makes it easy to get to the sand! We are across the street from The Sea Ranch Resort.
We provide beach chairs and some toys for your beach trip. Bath linens and kitchen towels are provided. Kitchen staples are provided to get you started. Full size washer and dryer in laundry closet , clothesline out back and one on screened porch for all those wet suits and towels. YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN SHEETS AND BEACH TOWELS !! If you choose to use bath towels provided, you must allow enough time on checkout day to wash, dry and restock them on shelf before departure.
NO PETS ALLOWED however, there are some very nice boarding facilities within minutes of the cottage if you want your pets close to check on.
The local YMCA is just a few miles away and offers weekly packages for an additional fee for those families wanting pool time.We are also a 20 minute drive from the new Outer Banks water park. However, you are across the street from the OCEAN!
Sandy Bottoms bright and happy decor is constantly changing. We always have a project to improve and upgrade our second home. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! There is one camera on the front porch, and one camera on the back porch for outside security ****WE ARE ONLY ON VRBO/HOMEAWAY FAMILY SITES****BE AWARE OF SCAMS!!

Absolutely had a great time with my family in this awesome little home. Owners made everything so easy and had the house in great shape and had lots of household appliances and many staples already in place for us to use. Absolutely great location to the beaches and any and all activities. Would most likely to rent this home again anytime. Talked with owners and was very impressed with her as she helped with a few things about the house and other aspects around it. Very impressed with her assessment of things talked about. Alvin L. Great Vacation!

There are a lot of rules for a reason…the house was in very good & clean condition. Kitchen had everything we needed. Temperature in the house was so comfortable. It’s just a quick trip across the street to the beach, easy for going back and forth for snacks, drinks or bathroom breaks. We spent a lot of time on the shaded front porch drinking coffee and cocktails, reading and saying hello to the passers by. The back deck was so comfortable and relaxing and the backyard very well maintained. We always find it hard to walk around KDH but the great parking and easy access made the driving easier. Grocery stores super close!

Cozy home close to the beach!

The beach house was great - well equipped and very comfy. The location was excellent - right across the street from beach access, close to a couple bars and restaurants and close to grocery stores. We had a great stay - thank you!

Our Favorite OBX Location

Just returned home from our second stay at Sandy Bottoms. It is officially our favorite place in the OBX...the location cannot be beat. The cottage was as clean and comfortable as our first stay and we are already planning a return trip next summer! Sandy Bottoms = instant comfort and relaxation!

Immaculate beach cottage

This house was perfect for our family of 5. Very clean, comfortable and cute! The pictures don’t do it justice. It really is perfect. Very close to the beach and to great restaurants.

OBX Beach Vacay

This was our second stay at “Sandy Bottoms.” The property has been extremely clean both times, well taken care of of, and check-in is a breeze. We love that the property is so close to the beach and walking distance to several restaurants. We enjoyed having our early morning coffee on the front porch. We would definitely stay here again, the homeowners are great to work with and very responsive!

Family Trip to the Outer Banks

The six of us visited the beach as part of a road trip. The house was larger than we expected and was well laid out for our needs. The back porch anc yard were especially nice. The proximity to the beach and the Wright Brothers Monument were a big plus. The only reason for the lower than 5 star rating was a requirement to furnish our own linens and the condition of the mattress covers. We were notified of the need to bring sheets and bath towels only a few days before our departure and it was inconveniient as we already had a very full vehicle. We stayed at 3 other VRBO's during the trip, all of which provided sheets and towels. Overall we had a wonderful stay and it was clear the owners have worked hard to have a beautiful and updated home.

Taking Momma to the Beach

We had a wonderful stay at Sandy Bottoms it was like staying with family. We were so pleased with all the special touches and the cute layout of the house! Even though it was just 2 of us we could easily imagine our families coming next time. In fact we'd love to plan a fall gateway here. Our needs have changed over the years from camping at OBX to a big house in Corolla. I think Sandy Bottoms is perfect for this stage! Momma was able to comfortably walk down to the beach to see the ocean and we were close to many of our favorite spots! Took a trip over to Manteo's Magnolia Village and a drive up to Corolla and Duck also visiting Timbuck II gotta try the fudge from the seaside farmers it's amazing . This is a great Location on a relatively quiet street! Thank you for sharing your cottage with us !!

Always a pleasure to stay at Sandy Bottoms

Sandy Bottoms is the epitome of a quaint OBX beach cottage in our estimation! We had stayed at this cottage before the current owners bought the property, and must say Keturah has beautifully transformed this adorable cottage!!! Almost unrecognizable !! Lovely upgrades in the kitchen, bathroom , flooring, addition of an outdoor patio, outdoor enclosed shower, and many tasteful beach themed decorations throughout the cottage. Comfortable furniture, across from the Sea Ranch resort for a great breakfast, and a quick walk to the beach make for a perfect stay at Sandy Bottoms for our family!! The only very minor surprise was that we had to bring our own umbrella for the outdoor table on the patio which we assumed was included judging from the pictures of the cottage showing beach umbrella at the table. Again, a very minor inconvenience for us to pack our own beach umbrella. Definitely plan to enjoy a future stay at the Epps adorable Sandy Bottoms!!!

Perfect Girls Getaway

This beautiful little cottage was warm and welcoming, the kitchen stocked with everything needed to prepare meals and the beds were comfortable allowing for a perfect nights rest after long days on the beach and shopping. The location was quiet with just a short walk to beach access. Communication with the owner was top-notch. Will definitely be back!

Great Vacation!

Why they chose this property

A beach cottage had been a dream of The Epps for years and finally when this low level bungalow became available, it seemed perfect especially with bad knees in the family! :) There were so many ironic things that pointed them towards Sandy Bottoms. It's quaintness and proximity to the beach made it clear that there would be lots of fun times at the beach to experience!

What makes this property unique

Location,location,location !!! Close walk to the beach,grocery store , Jolly Roger Restaurant and The Sea Ranch Resort . Also, the big back porch could accommodate rainy days in a hammock..
