Another wonderful stay.

Our third visit to Moatside Gate and just as good as the previous two. Lovely property and ideally located. Full marks to the person who cleaned and prepared the place for our arrival.

A first class stay in York!

Whats not to like about Moatside Gate, from the moment we arrived it was warm and inviting. The property has everything you would need for two couples to stay comfortably. Its location is brilliant being just a few minutes walk to the city centre. There is parking for two cars as well.

Managed to book in early and have found Stays York to be a very efficient company. I have used them before. Moatside was everything we hoped it would be, clean and very welcoming. Our three day break was to celebrate a friends birthday and Moatside was in an excellent position to visit the centre and the Christmas market.

2night stay in York

4 ladies stayed for 2 nights at Moatside. Lovely accommodation with everything we needed. Parking was ample for a larger car under the archway plus a smaller space within the gates. Location is great, short walk to the city gate. Would definitely stay here again

Ideal location

The property is conveniently placed and parking is a bonus. We have stayed here on a previous visit and plan to book again next year. Says it all really.

Great base for exploring York

Perfectly located, great to have parking and an outdoor area. Short walk into the city but tucked away. Fab to have two shower rooms although these could benefit from having bath mats. No Hoover or broom to use during our stay. Comfortably sized for 4 adults and a dog.

Central, comfortable, cosy, complete

Everything you need for a short stay in York - park the car and explore on foot. The chimes of the Minster bell awake you in the morning (8am), you can then prepare for your day of exploring York. Easy with each bedroom having ensuite facilities. Leave the car where is it safely parked under cover ( room for 2). When you are footsore - wander back to your cosy cottage, plenty of facilities to cook, watch telly, read a book and snuggle up on the sofa. Moatside Gate met our needs and we plan to return.

Excellent property

This is a great little house for us as two couples to meet up. Location is so convenient for exploring York, we were able to park the cars and walk everywhere. Glorious weather helped our experience, and the garden meant we could sit outside. Highly recommend.

A very good location and lovely accommodation. Parking on site preferably for small car. All facilities were good - only criticisms (if I had to give some) were a need for more small plates and a lighter weight duvet. We had hot weather and the duvet was rather warm! Otherwise an excellent stay and would recommend.

What a gem hidden away by the old city walls. Well equipped, very clean, comfortable and a perfect location just a short walk to the main sites in York. On-site parking a bonus too. Great communication with Stays York helped everything go smoothly. Highly recommend

We like it because we can have two bathrooms though I miss the bath after a days cycling. I would have rated the location excellent but Gillygate is always full of polluting traffic.York is too crowded but there are good walks and cycle rides away from the city.I will stay here again next year if we ca

Christmas in York

We have been coming to York for Christmas shopping for several years now and spent the last 3 here at Moatside. Lovely little cottage within easy walking distance from the city so we can just park up the car for the few days we are here. Always nice and clean and with all the amenities you need.

Our annual trip to York

We come every year from Somerset to do our Christmas shopping. As always the accommodation was excellent and we love the atmosphere of York at this time of year. Our only disappointment this year was that we could not recycle our bottles, card, etc as the properties around Moatside Gate pay for a private collection and Stays York would not pay for the service so we were unable to use it. We had to put all our recycling into the black bins which was really quite unacceptable.

Another fabulous experience in York

Moatside Gate is a winner on location, being minutes away from the centre of York. The property is warm and cozy, with the interior layout providing almost two separate double en suite rooms. Add to that a fully equipped kitchen, and there is nothing to fault with this beautiful little holiday getaway.

Perfect in every way

The cottage is in an ideal location, was perfect for two couples and a dog and the parking available was a bonus. Close enough to plenty of cafes and restaurants (many dog friendly) but well equipped for cooking at home as well. The cottage was cost and warm when we arrived which was lovely. The courtyard and gates were great for the dog as there was safe outdoor space. Would definitely visit again!

Exactly as advertised.

This property was exactly as we hoped it would be from the cleanliness of the rooms to the perfect location for York city centre. The only downside was that the weather was hot for a couple of days during our stay and so a portable fan in the bedrooms would have been welcomed.

Relaxing short stay in the beautiful city of York

Lovely small cottage situated just outside the city walls a brisk 10 minute walk from the heart of York. The cottage has all the facilities you will need and we found it warm and comfortable. There is parking for 2 cars but you may struggle if you had 2 large cars. The cottage is bright and modern with a small seating area outside. Would certainly consider staying again if we return to York.

Great Choice

Our stay in York was short so we wanted somewhere that was central and, as we were taking our dog, had an enclosed space. We couldn't have chosen better. The pictures on the websites really don't do it justice. The house fits 4 adults comfortably with enough room to spare. 2 beautiful big double rooms (one with en suite), ample kitchen and living space. Perfect location with part of the City Walls right outside and the Shambles and York Minster only a few minutes walk away. House has its own covered parking space. The patio outside is bigger than we expected. Definitely returning to York in the future and won't look for anywhere else to stay.

We loved our stay at Moatside Gate, York. Just outside walls. Was easy to walk to everything. Place was quiet and comfortable. Has parking inside property gate if you have a small car but there is still a designated safe parking spot just outside entrance gate for a larger car. Highly recommended.

Moatside Gate is an excellent property in an ideal situation only 10 mins. walk from the Minster. Benefits from having 2 parking spaces Only negatives - no tea towel or bathmats and only 4 small plates! Boiler switched off when we arrived, but very comfortable once we had realised and put it back on. Our 2nd visit and we will definitely return. Many thanks
