About this property

Heart of village! Knotty pine cabin located on a creek. Air conditioning!

The Camp Creek Lodge is located in the heart of the alpine village at the base of the Glade Trail. It was constructed in 1938. The cabin features a knotty pine interior and a majestic stone fireplace.

The main level contains the entry foyer, living room / dining area, kitchen, utility room, a full-bathroom, a half-bathroom, and the main entry foyer. The upstairs contains two bedrooms, and a sleeping area at the top of the stairs. Each upstairs bedroom has air-conditioning for better warm weather sleeping. There have been multiple improvements throughout the years to make the cabin more comfortable, convenient, and safe without sacrificing the work done by the skilled craftsman of the 1930's.

The roads to the cabin and parking at the cabin are plowed during winter. There is parking for two cars on site with nearby public parking available for additional vehicles.

The cabin has plenty of yard area for children to play and just up the road at the dead end is a great winter play area with a hill ideal for inner-tubing. Access to the trails along the north side of Government Camp are accessed through this area and lead to a large network of hiking/cross country skiing/snowshoeing trails. Trails to south side of the village can be access by walking over the Multorpor bridge. These trails give easy access all the way to Trillium Lake and beyond.

Village shops and restaurants are only a two minute walk away, ideal for be able to leave the car at the cabin when doing culinary and retail exploring.

The cabin is stocked with board games and videos. The Govy General Store (200' away) rents DVD's and sells items to make your trip even more enjoyable.

While at the cabin don't forget to check out the Mt. Hood Museum and Cultural Center.

This cabin is vintage 1938 (Timberline Lodge era) with a 1974 addition, this means it’s full of quirks and character and that’s why we adore it so much. If you are more comfortable in a sleek modern cabin, we gently suggest this cabin might not be the best fit for your getaway.

IMPORTANT - Shortly after booking our cabin we will request payment for County Room Tax which VRBO is currently unable to capture at booking. These taxes are 6.85% of the amount you pay to VRBO. This situation is unwelcome for everyone, so we hope VRBO will update their software soon! All owners using VRBO for lodging on Mt. Hood are in the same situation. They used to collect this tax but tell us now their software is unable to do it. VRBO has told me they are working on a solution.

Awesome cabin, great wifi, perfect location
We loved absolutely everything about this wonderful little cabin! It had everything we needed for a super comfortable stay. The kids loved exploring the creek and we appreciated being close enough to walk to town. All communications with the owner went super smoothly and we can’t wait to come back.

Lovely vintage cabin in the snow!
We spent two nights at this cabin, and found it to be very charming. The sleeping situation is unique, so make sure that it will work for you. There were plenty of beds, and our bed and linens were clean and comfortable. The home itself is vintage, with most features being original, but we found it to be very clean, cozy, and charming. We loved the proximity to shops and restaurants, and the wall of windows with views of trees and snow in the main living area made us feel extra cozy!

Perfect location for Mt Hood adventures
This property certainly lived up to expectations ~ it is indeed cozy but very well appointed, a lovely cabin in the woods two blocks off the main road in Government Camp. The layout is well thought out, and accommodated 2 adults and 3 teen skiers perfectly. Would absolutely return, and hope to!

About the host

Welcome to the Camp Creek Lodge. We offer a well maintained, clean, comfortable cabin high in the Northern Oregon Cascades village of Government Camp. Our family has owned cabins on Mt. Hood since 1916 (we celebrated the 100 years of ownership at one of our cabins in 2016) and because of this we have spent years living, recreating and exploring in the area. We know Mt. Hood's history and what it currently has to offer.

The cabin was built in the 1930's and maintains the look and feel of that era. From the knotty pine interiors to the large stone chimney this is the type of cabin one might see in the background of an L.L. Bean or Eddie Bauer catalog. Throughout the years though, just the right amount of tasteful and sometimes hidden upgrades have been incorporated to make it warm, convenient and safe.

Our goal is to offer families the opportunities to make lasting treasured memories that can be kept and enjoyed for years to come. Our guests are amazed what a visit to our cabin will do for their soul. During the darkest grayest rainy days of winter we offer an escape to a winter wonderland of beautiful white fluffy snow.

We have happily managed everything ourselves for over 25 years. We do all the reservations, all the advertising, the hiring of the cleaning companies, the post check-out inspection, the pre-cleaning company cleaning, the post-cleaning company cleaning, the cabin setup for the next guest, all cabin maintenance and repair, all the firewood cutting, splitting, and delivery, and all the snow removal. We take great pride in our lodging and encourage you to contact us by telephone or e-mail with any questions you may have. If when you call we can’t satisfy your desired reservation dates we will do our best to give you suggestions on who else to call.

We look forward to working with you.

Blane and Julie Skowhede

Why they chose this property

When looking for property we knew we wanted to purchase a cabin that was located in Mt. Hood's alpine village. Government Camp is the closest village to the high alpine outdoor activities we enjoy doing. It also has a great little business district that meets all of our needs while staying at the cabin as I'm sure it will for our guests too. The cabin is conveniently located in the heart of the Village. Walking to the shops, restaurants, or museum, is easy 2-3 minute walk. The cabin is also within a very short walking distance to winter play hills, recreation areas, and miles of backcounty hiking, cross county skiing and shoeing trails. Located at nearly the 4000' elevation of Mt Hood the cabin is within one half mile of Ski Bowl East (Multorpor) with its winter and summer recreation. The cabin is also just minutes from year 'round skiing at Timberline Lodge and from Mt Hood Meadows ski resort.

What makes this property unique

When we first saw the interior of this cabin we knew it was what we had been looking for. Its knotty pine interior and large stone fireplace help make the cabin feel the way an alpine cabin should feel.
