All cleaning is done by my roommate or myself, rather than a cleaning crew. We are both fully vaccinated. More Details: Just a 5 minute walk to the heart of Government Camp! Although only an hour from Portland, its 4000 feet elevation makes it seem a world away: a gateway to all that Mt. Hood has to offer. In winter, downhill skiing, sledding, tubing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or just sitting by the fire in a winter-wonderland. In summer, some of the best hiking in the country, including the Pacific Crest Trail. Our favorite, Mirror Lake and the peak of Tom, Dick and Harry, whose trail-head is just a mile down Highway 26.
Of course, what is a vacation without relaxing in a hottub! Collins Lake Resort features the Creekside Lodge with free wi-fi, sauna, pool (88F), hot-tub (105F), and a mini pool set in the woods (101F). There are also trails through the 28 acres.
The townhouse is an end-unit, with extra windows to let the sunshine in. It is on 3 levels, so there are some stairs to navigate. First floor has a 2 car tandem garage and laundry (wash/dryer). Second floor has the kitchen, dining area, living room, a halfbath, and a balcony with a BBQ. Third floor has the master bedroom with a queen-sized bed and private bathroom, 2nd bedroom with a queen-sized bed and views of Mt. Hood. Since this is an end-unit, it has a 3rd enclosed room with a window, that has a twin-size bunk-bed. There is a second full bathroom on the 2nd floor.
Some might call this a chef's kitchen. We certainly make sure that the kitchen is well stocked,. It has a gas stove, full-size fridge with ice-maker, microwave, and dishwasher. There's also a toaster, a blender, a coffee grinder, and a great selection of pots and pans. We even stock some common spices, olive oil and balsamic vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, creamer, tea and coffee.
The balcony and master bedroom face SkiBowl. They also overlook highway 26, but with the door/window closed, you can barely hear the cars.
The unit comfortably sleeps 4 adults and 2 children, in the 2 queen and 2 twin beds. There is a sofa bed in the living room that can sleep two additional guests. If there are more than 6 guests, there is a $10 per person per night surcharge.
We also stock 2 pairs of snowshoes, and several children's sleds. There is a flat screen TV, DVD player, WiFi, cable, a selection of movies and books.
No pets are allowed. Smoking is not allowed in the unit. No parties.
The Mt. Hood Express bus goes from Sandy to Timberline Lodge, with stops in between, including at Collins Lake.

The host was very friendly with great communication. He made the entire process very easy. The condo was lovely, with everything we needed. There was a lot of road noise in the master bedroom, so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper, or sleep in one of the other rooms.
We had a fantastic stay at this ski chalet in Government Camp! The place was incredibly clean when we arrived, which immediately made us feel comfortable and welcome. The chalet itself is spacious and thoughtfully laid out, making it perfect for a ski getaway. One of our favorite features was the big garage — it made storing all our ski gear so easy and convenient, especially after long days on the mountain. Not having to worry about wet equipment cluttering up the living space was a huge plus. The hot tub was the highlight of the trip! There’s nothing better than soaking under the cold mountain air after a full day on the slopes. It was clean, well-maintained, and the perfect way to unwind.Overall, the chalet was very comfortable, cozy, and well-equipped for a relaxing stay. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!
We loved our convenient check in and check out, comfortable accommodations, proximity to the snow. Host was attentive and accommodating. Will stay here again!
Extremely well set up. Well stocked kitchen. Comfortable living room. 2.5 bathrooms are great and clean. Easy access via front door or garage. Walkable to town center. Very clean. Communication with owner is exceptional. The small drawback is that it is right next to Highway 26 and the noise from cars and trucks is noticeable (bring earplugs and should be good to go). Appreciated owner recommendation on food in town. Enjoyed our stay!
Great place to stay in Government Camp. Condo had everything needed for our stay with well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and close proximity to Timberline and Mt. Hood.
Great location , clean , easy check in and check out , perfect for a small group of Alpine racers who want to ski hard , sleep well and enjoy the Government Camp experience
This is a great place to stay! The condo was great - the beds were comfortable, the living room was extra cozy with the fireplace going, we had fun with the foosball table in the garage, and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hot tubs. It's in a great location, close to town, hikes, and tubing. We'd definitely stay again.
Great property, kitted out with everything you’d need for a stay. Minutes from SkiBowl and the shuttle to Timberline. Will check for availability here if we head to the mountain for a stay.
My son and I stayed at this unit for 4 nights while he trailed at Timberline. The unit was comfy and super functional, with all appliances working great.
Peter was a great host. His new door code mechanism is a great addition and makes entry simple. The units at Collins lake are the perfect place for a family ski vacation.
Great, clean property. Close to Skibowl and central Government Camp area. Leisure pool at the complex was great. The townhouse had plenty of space for our family. And the extra ammentities such as ping pong and some snow playing supplies were a bonus but we ended up not using them. Would love to stay here again and recommend to others.
We really enjoyed staying in this spacious, clean and comfortable condo. The beds and living room furniture were comfortable and nice. Well equiped kitchen. Thoughtful treat basket and supplies for home. Convenient garage for storage and car protection. Nice clubhouse with big hot tub surrounded by trees that we used daily after skiing. 20-30 minute drive to two XC ski trail systems, very convenient. Nice neighborhood with restaurants and market close by. Great overall experience!
This property was perfect for our family getaway to the snow. Communication and check in was seamless. We picked up groceries on the way and were able to cook all our meals. Getting to Meadows was quick and when tubing was sold out we were able to utilize the sleds at snow bunny. All in all it was a quick weekend but I wouldn't hesitate to book again upon returning.
This unit is so lovely, and the setting is magical. There was fresh snow when we arrived, making the hot pool in the forest that much more special! The unit itself is perfectly appointed, with everything we needed for a lovely stay. We did some exploring (Mt. Hood, so nearby hiking at Zigzag Falls) and otherwise just enjoyed relaxing in the rental because it was so perfect. Thank you Peter for being so responsive and accommodating!

I love living in Portland, and taking advantage of the many hiking trails during the summer and beautiful beaches, and skiing during the winter. I love to travel, where I like to visit major cities around the world. I work at OHSU as an associate professor.
Why they chose this property
I've always enjoyed staying in mountain chalets during the winter, and so decide to buy one in Govy. With just over an hour from Portland. I am able to visit often, even for overnight stays. This is a great base for skiing in the winter, and hiking in the summer. Plus, the town of Govy is pretty neat. Soaking in the leisure pool nestled in the trees is a great way to end the day.
