Bassmaster names Clear Lake #1 Best Bass Lake in America!

Bass fishing on Clear Lake
We’ve been saying for years that Clear Lake boasts the best bass fishing in the west. Well, we’re proud to say we’re not the only ones bragging. Clear Lake has been named to the “100 Best Bass Lakes in America for 2025” by none other than Bassmaster. Number one! Our beautiful blue, 43,785-acre namesake has been named number one in the entire nation!
Five-hundred lakes were in contention. One-hundred lakes made the cut. But Clear Lake topped the list, meaning America’s oldest lake is once again our country’s best for bass fishing!
Here’s what the fine folks at Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (a.k.a. B.A.S.S.) had to say:
“This fishery has endured decades of tournament traffic and still produces monsters year-round,” said B.A.S.S. Conservation Director Gene Gilliland. “It’s a testament to both the ecosystem’s productivity and sound fisheries management.”
Gary Collins record 15lb bass caught on Clear Lake
Aw, shucks. Thanks Gene. We’re so grateful to all of the fishery folks who made this possible, as well as the anglers who keep coming back for more. There’s a reason: Like Gene said, we’ve got some big, big mouths. Just this spring angler Gary Collins notched a 15-bass, 102.81-pound total at the WON Bass Open, fishing alongside his friend and fellow fisherman, John Pearl. Trust us, there are plenty more monsters lurking in these depths.
SEPT TO MID OCT PROVIDE EXCELLENT WEATHER, CALM WATERS TO ENJOY SKIING AND STILL GREAT FISHING IN THE NUMBER 1 BASS LAKE IN THE USA.
4TH OF JULY. INCREDIBLE FIREWORKS IN FRONT OF LIBRARY PARK IN LAKEPORT FROM A BARGE. TAKE YOUR BOAT OUT AND PARK IT UNDER THE FIREWORKS FOR THE MOST AMAZING FIREWORKS EXPERIENCE YOU WILL EVER SEE.
APRIL AND MAY PROBABLY THE BEST MONTHS FOR FISHING ON CLEAR LAKE. CATCH BASS, CATFISH, CRAPPIE AND BLUEGILL FROM THE DOCK. THE BASS LIKE BRUSH HOGS AND RUBBER CRAWLERS. LIVE BAIT IS ALWAYS GREAT.
GET OUT OF THE HOUSE. TURN OFF THE TV. COME TO MY LAKEFRONT HOME ON CLEAR LAKE. FISH FROM THE DOCK. RELAX IN THE HOT TUB. ENJOY BEAUTIFUL SUNRISES AND SUNSETS. VIEW ALL OF THE WILDLIFE ON THE LAKE. BBQ A GREAT STEAK ON THE GRILL. SIP ON A SPLENDID GLASS OF WINE. TAKE IN ALL OF THE NATURAL BEAUTY AND SERENITY OF THE LAKEFRONT.
BOOK IT NOW.
This beautiful, 1700-square-foot home is neat and spacious and fully furnished with all the amenities of home while providing all the natural wonders of a dream vacation at your finger tips.
The 20-foot by 20-foot, lake-side bedroom has a huge closet, ceiling fan, and elegant Thomasville oak chest, armoire with large TV, CD and DVD, matching bedside chests with brass lamps, gorgeous arched, spindled queen-size bed and French doors that open to the lake.
The second bedroom has similar furnishings with two queen beds. The livingroom has 2 queen hide-a-beds and the sunroom also has a queen hide-a-bed.
Enjoy a glowing fire in the living room while looking over the lake. This room opens to the sun room and kitchen to provide an open feeling. The kitchen, with four stools up against the breakfast bar, and the dining area overlook the lake and sport an indoor grill and provide plenty of room to entertain your guests. The sunroom is the perfect place to enjoy 180-degree views of the lake and absorb the wonder of Mount Konocti surrounded in pastel colors at both sunrise and sunset while relaxing on the love seat or hide-a-bed..
Enjoy grilling up your fish on the stainless, propane BBQ, as you view the lake and then eat under the covered patio only 20 feet from the water's edge. Catch bass and catfish out of your front yard. Watch the grebes dance, egrets hunt, and geese and ducks parade by. Look for blue herons, turkey vultures, cormorant, eagles, osprey, or even a muskrat or lake otter while lounging on lush green, lakeside lawn.
Wineries, restaurants, casinos, motorcycle trails, antiquing, grocery stores, gas stations are all within five minutes, yet you will feel like you own the lake with wonderful lake front privacy. With a hot tub, fireplace, air conditioning, a full laundry room with washer, dryer and wash basin, all linens and towels provided, a fully automatic, covered, lit boat lift with electrical outlets to charge your boat and hose to wash it off, swim platform with ladder and a jet ski lift, you will only need to pack a bathing suit, a fishing pole and a pair of binoculars. For your protection and safety the property has a ring doorbell/camera in the front and in the back.
Celebrate the love of your life with the time of your life in Lake County!
What better place to celebrate your love than a romantic weekend for two in wine country’s fastest-growing region. With unique lodging option and plenty to do, we can’t think of any better place either!

Watch the glitter on the lake and count the stars while wrapping up an active day by relaxing in the hot tub. If you spend a week here, you will not want to leave.

About the host
Hosted by dale debruin
I'm a retired school teacher who loves the outdoors and the activities associated with being there. My 2 children are in their 30's and wish they could be here more often. I love it here, and try to be here whenever it's available.
Why they chose this property
I love to fish and water ski. This is one of the finest big bass lakes around and almost always has the glassy, calm water that I love to ski on, somewhere on the lake. The wildlife is incredible here. The white pelicans, osprey, bald eagles, egrets, blue herons, grebes with their babies, various kinds of ducks, turtles, otters and water fowl are plentiful on the lake.
What makes this property unique
Just having a cup of coffee sitting in the hot tub to watch the sunrise is reason enough for me to make the drive here. Being right on the water gives you a serene, calming feeling. In the summer, even though the sun is up at 6am and down at 9pm, it seems that there is never enough time. (to fish, ski, sail, go to the wineries, concerts, casinos, BBQ with friends) etc. Just sitting in a lounge chair in the lakeside lawn reading a book, or eating lunch or just staring at a sunset is a gift that makes you count your blessings.
