This is a perfect place for families to gather and have a great time. We could not have found a better place and way to enjoy the experience of the Grand lake area and Rocky Mountain National Park. Having the private lake was the icing on the cake.
We rented this for my dad's 80th birthday celebration. It slept all 16 of us very comfortably. It was an absolutely beautiful cabin. Lots to do around there and at the property. We would highly recommend for any kind of family gathering. The hosts were very accommodating and were very communicative.
Beautiful property , love that every room had its own bathroom. Kitchen well stocked, seen moose, bald eagles and caught fish on the pond! Great place!
Stunning home very well equipped, 5 bedrooms each with their own bathroom. Our family loved the lake, fishing and the boats. Easy access to Grand Lake restaurants and shopping. We will definitely rent this property again.
The place is beautiful, it was decorated for the Christmas Holiday! Made our stay even more special!! It really felt like home away from home!! We all loved and enjoyed our stay!! Thank you for the opportunity!!
Colorado it’s a beautiful place . But staying in the mountains it’s an incredible experience for us, our cabin made it even better on our Christmas trip . Cabin was clean and updated. Thank you corry for sharing your beautiful cabin with us
Very well appointed house. Great layout and plenty of room. The location is fantastic - close to Grand Lake, but on it's own little lake. This area was a definite highlight - they also have a lot of lake oriented equipment and bikes to explore.
This is definitely a place we will want to rent again for our family and friends trips.
It was great. My family thoroughly enjoyed. We had everything we needed. The hosts were fantastic, friendly and made everything easy. Hope to go back some time.
The cabin was amazing. Plenty of room for people to have space as well as enjoy each other’s company. Owners thought of everything you could possibly need to make our stay comfortable and were very easy to communicate with. Views were beautiful and plenty of things to do nearby. Would recommend to anyone
We love the area and always see more moose around sun valley lake than rangers in the park.
The place is clean, spacious, and has the best equipped kitchen we have ever encountered in a rental.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to letting us stay in your home. We really felt it was home away from home! We appreciate every thought out into the home from the chargers to the extra blankets and games. It was one of the best homes we have stayed at and shows it was built with love!
This was an absolute gem of a home, very well appointed for groups large and small. They have everything you could dream of, a d everything is very well labeled. Due to the recent fires, the area is a bit barebones, so that's a bit of a drag, but it's still a very nice area. Highly recommend.
Everything was just wonderful from check in and communication with Corry to every detail and need taken care of in this gorgeous cabin. It was the perfect secluded location on the same property I used to visit many years ago as a child. So beautiful! Thank you so much!
Our family of 16 had an great time at Whispering Pines Cabin! The cabin was clean and had so many amenities. The kitchen was well supplied with any appliance you would every need. They supplied you with every essential item. We enjoyed the kayaks, bikes, kids games and toys. It is an awesome family getaway!
We absolutely loved staying here! The cabin is beautiful and I loved how the table was big enough for us all to sit and eat and play games! Having the lake right there to enjoy was so convenient. There was always something for everyone to do, and perfect for those who wanted to stay at the cabin with the baby! Loved seeing wildlife especially moose! We also loved being able to go into town within a few minutes for all the fun that grand lake has to offer! The owners are wonderful and so easy to contact! We would absolutely love to visit again in this cabin!

About the host
Hosted by Corry McDowell
We (Ray, Corry, Therese and Erik), are owners of Whispering Pines Lodge. We purchased the cabin in December of 2014 because we love the rustic and the near by mountains. On October 21, 2020 our cabin burned to the ground from the East Troublesome Fire. Our guests were safely evacuated but our area was totally burned. It has been a hard two years rebuilding the cabin. We were very underinsured so we became the building contractor with the help of our family, doing a lot of the work ourselves and sub-contracting what we couldn't do. We received our Certificate of Occupancy November 28, 2022. Our new cabin is bigger and better. We hope our guest will understand that there are still things that need to be finished as the weather allows. PLEASE know that the area has construction going on with owners rebuilding their homes. A lot of the construction close to us should be done by summer. Ray and Corry moved to Loveland, Colorado from Michigan in 1972. Ray worked for Eastman Kodak company for 33+ years and has since retired. Corry was a graphic artist and a stay at home mom to raise their five children. Corry has won the Loveland Valentine Re-mailing contest; Cachet 17 time and Valentine card 6 times. Corry volunteers at the House of Neighborly Service because she believes in helping the those in need. Ray & Corry and daughter, Therese and husband Erik, together bought the cabin as an investment and a place to relax. Therese and Erik were married June 2014. Therese is a dental assistant and Erik has his own trucking business. Therese and Erik welcomed their first child, a little girl, November 12, 2015. To help pay the expenses we decided to rent out our cabin when not in use. Ray and Corry enjoy going to the mountains plus to the cabin to do the cleaning after guests have stayed. Our favorite activity when enjoying the cabin is walking around the lake, looking for wildlife and enjoying the wildflowers.
Why they chose this property
The mountain scenery in Grand Lake is the most beautiful in all of Colorado. And it is so peaceful in the Sun Valley Lake area that a person can forget all their troubles. We love this cabin because we did the rebuild of this cabin design, in an area with beautiful vistas and off the beaten path of everyday life.
