Nature lovers chalet nestled in the heart of Perigord with heated pool

'La Truffière' is an adorable chalet lying in the heart of nature, with a 1 ha park at the end of a private road with no neighbours and surrounded by forest, at only 3 kms from a historical village classified 'Most beautiful villages of France' in the centre of the 'Perigord' surrounded by pre historical caves, famous castles, Sarlat, Les Eyzies... one can partake in especially good wine&cuisine.
The inside of the chalet and the annex is all in wood and offers 3 rooms: 2 double bed rooms and one small room (cabin type) with 2 single beds suitable for children. 2 rooms have air con. On the first floor of the Chalet is a living room (sofa for 6, TV (satellite), Hi-FI, DVD) with an eating area, a fully equipped kitchen, a shower room and a toilet. The stairs to reach the second floor is very steep thus not suitable for elderly or very young children. The annex offers an additional shower room and a restroom. The surroundings offers plenty of activities: river trout-fishing à 5 km, 2 golfs at 3 kms including a 18 holes golf course, canoe at 4 km on the Dordogne River where you can enjoy viewing the 5 main castles of Dordogne.


An exceptional surrounding : La Truffière lies in a 1 ha fully fenced park at the end of a 300m private road. The main road linking Siorac and Belvès lies dowhill at around 400 yard (the only non natural noise when there is some traffic). The entrance gate opens by means of a remote control. You will feel the great privacy of the place. The garden around the houses is enhanced with more than 20 lights so that you will enjoy long summer nights....

A warm service: At any moment you need, local staff are available to help you. The garden and the swimming pool are taken care of every week at the time which is convenient to you. A guest book with useful information will help you to make your stay enjoyable.

Remote and tranquil location

Had a lovely week here. Chalet could do with some updating but it was fine as a base to explore the beautiful area. The swimming pool was great and we loved the remote location. It feels like you are miles from anywhere. Owner was very nice and very helpful.

Idyllic chalet in the woods

Quiet location, nice pool, a great place to relax. Lots of places to visit nearby, or just laze around. Steep ladder to bedrooms in main chalet, so those with bad knees will have to sleep in the cabin. Table and chairs in the garden, and sofas under an awning, barbeque. My family want to go back already.

The photographs on the listing for this property are very out of date. The outdoor seating area is completely different. The romantic peace and quiet does not exist. The table tennis table is broken as is the seating outside. There are no reclining chairs outside. We arrived to find the pool a very dark green with chemical crystals floating on the top. Most of the crockery was cracked or broken with only 3 cups for hot drinks. Having said all this, the owner did send someone round fairly quickly to look into the pool problem but we spent 4 days trying to clear it. The surrounding area is spectacular, you could not wish for a better location. The wildlife is fascinating. The local town is very picturesque and interesting with a wonderful patisserie and restaurant. The only thing that lets this property down is the lack of maintenance and general care. We would not recommend the property to friends and will not be visiting again. The stairs are extremely steep and we would not recommend that they are used by children.

Mooie locatie maar met behoorlijk achterstallig onderhoud.

De locatie waar het chalet staat is uitstekend. Veel privacy, natuur en prachtige vergezichten. Het chalet zelf, de voorzieningen buiten het chalet bevatten wel behoorlijk wat achterstallig onderhoud. De foto's welke op de site staan zijn zeker van een jaar of 10 geleden. Tevens was de wifi niet werkend te krijgen en was er geen signaal voor de tv. Op het bordes van het chalet staken een paar planken uit wat risico op verwonding geeft. Het water van het zwembad was goed van kwaliteit en op temperatuur. Op en rond het zwembad zit ook wel achterstallig onderhoud zoals loszitten tegels wat ook risico op verwonding geeft. Oppassen dus met kleine kinderen. Wij hebben echter 2 heerlijke weken doorgebracht, met name door de locatie, de omgeving en de mazzel met het weer.

tout a fait ce que nous recherchions ,isolé et calme piscine parfaite , une tranquillité totale. Cependant , un réfrigérateur suffisant pour nous deux mais pas pour plus de personnes. De plus ,comme lu sur d'autres commentaires le chalet demande un rafraichissement surtout au niveau de la salle de bain Malgré cela , nous avons passé un excellent séjour

… « Malgré un ensemble daté ; nécessitant rénovations, Agréable séjour – quoique un peu cher – dans un site paradisiaque-confidentiel Avec sa maison-chalet atypique et sa grande piscine-privée. Route en contrebas un peu présente en journée… Mais pas l’ombre d’une bestiole ou âme qui vive, n’est venu plomber notre petit séjour, Tout au plus « 2 moustiques égarés » à qui nous avons rapidement indiqué la sortie ! Via les pas japonais… » … Couchages et hébergement corrects, mais le vétuste a un peu ici pris le pas sur le vintage, Voici pourquoi je mets 4* avec l’envie d’en mettre moins mais le propriétaire, Sylvain, est sympathique. Séjour au top!

Vacances au top dans votre petit coin de paradis, idéal en famille , à revoir les fourmis dans le deuxième petit chalet...ainsi que quelques arbres prêt à tomber... sinon je recommande coin paisible en pleine forêt, parfait pour se ressourcer...

Un bel endroit

Un domaine idéal pour les enfants (parc, piscine et table de ping-pong) et pour passer des vacances entre amis. Quelques points à revoir pour améliorer le confort de ce bien. Il est aussi très bien situé pour visiter cette partie du Périgord et Belvès est un charmant village.

Nous avons passé un très bon séjour. Le cadre est magnifique et très agréable. La piscine est suffisamment grande, a l abris de tout le monde pour profiter pleinement. Il y a quand même des points négatifs pour notre part, nous n avons pas pu nous servir du 2eme.logement car il y a plein de fourmis, même en nettoyant elles reviennent, la maison n était pas niquel à notre arrivée et il n'y a pas assez de siège long (que 3...) Mais dans l ensemble nous avons apprécié notre séjour.

Semaine tres agreable dans cet endroit atypique en pleine nature. Le chalet principal est bien équipé. Le petit chalet annexe est agréable en été avec sa douche extérieure Le jardin est spacieux et tres arboré. La piscine est belle et permet de faire des longueurs de natation. Bien situé avec des ballades et visites sympas aux alentours.

Truly relaxing holiday

Family of 4 stayed here and we truly enjoyed our stay here. All facilities as described provided us everything we needed. The house was very clean and well maintained, and the grounds and pool were excellent. The location is outstanding and very relaxing. Owner was responsive throughout the process and assisted us during our stay. Thank you Sylvain for an excellent break!

Impressive Location

Just returned from a fantastic 2 week stay at La Truffiere. You could not ask for a more perfect location. Set behind electric gates in acres of woodland in complete privacy. Wildlife everywhere you look. Bear in mind that it is 1 hour drive from the nearest motorway. The main chalet has a reasonably spacious living area downstairs with a tv and dvd player. Kitchen has a 4 ring gas hob and a combi microwave which did the job but we could really have done with an oven as we usually like to eat in. Well equipped otherwise, plenty of knives, forks,plates etc. Having read previous reviews I can confirm that yes, you will have to use ant killer - but what do you expect in the middle of a forest? We just kept our food sealed or in the fridge. The bathroom is small and a bit dated. We mainly used the outside facilities joined onto the separate house at bottom of garden The stairs are unsuitable for toddlers or the elderly. We came with our 2 boys of 11 & 14 who loved it. Loads of room to run about. Evenings spent playing hide and seek in woods or sitting round outside seating area. The surrounding area is superb with loads to do within half hours drive. Caves, canoeing on Dordogne, Go Karting. Don't miss the Wednesday evening food market in Belves - but take your own plates, knives and forks and wine. Would definitely come back.

Fantastic place. The place to be!

. On a eu une vacance fantastique comme toujours dans votre gite. La silence, le temps, la piscine, je me sens chaque fois “vivre comme Dieu en France”. Je ne sais pas si on dit cela en France, mais ici en Belgique cela veut dire qu’on vit une vie sans problèmes avec tout le bien qu’une vie peut offrir. J’éspère qu’on peut encore retourner beaucoup de fois dans le proche future. Merci beaucoup pour l’hébergement et tous les soins que vous mettez dans le gite et le jardin. A shame

2 weeks here, the weather wasn't kind at all, I think we had 3 days of sun-bathing weather. The gite was challenging, the stairs are remarkably steep, there were insufficient sun recliners, the bathroom was dark and unwelcoming, the kitchen was overun with ants and needs a new sink surround, this place needs some smartening up, the pool is gorgeous, although we had to request it to be uncovered, it was the middle of June and we were expecting good weather (silly us!) The saving grace about this place is the location, it is almost isolated, the wildlife was marvellous, red squirrels, black kites, buzzards, golden orioles, deer in the garden, woodpeckers plus all the usual others. It is handy for the local town Bellac which has a couple of nice places to eat, Sarlat and Bergerac are not far. But we wouldn't stay here again, the owner, although quite solicitous, obviously doesn't keep a close eye on its condition. One recliner for a place that potentially sleeps 6 is not good enough. Lightbulb on the stairs not working, ant powder everywhere, all the instructions in the house manual were out of date making it tricky trying to work out what was what.

Herrliche zwei Wochen in La Trufière

Wir haben herrliche zwei Wochen in La Trufière verbracht, wobei Lage und Ausstattung des Chalets La Trufière einen wesenlichen Anteil hieran hatten. Das Grundstück ist besonders für Urlaub mit Hund geeignet. Das Chalet ist idealer Ausgangspunkt für viele Sehenswürdigkeiten, die in unmittelbarer Nähe liegen oder in Tagesfahrten zu erreichen sind. Nach der Rückkehr von den Besichtiungen war Enspannung im wohltemperierten Pool auf dem Grundstück angesagt, Wellness pur! Dank der gut ausgestatteten Küche haben wir nicht - wie ursprünglich geplant - in Restaurants gegessen, sondern selbst gekocht und das Essen auf der Terrasse mit Blick über die herrliche Landschaft genosssen. Auf zwei Punkte, die uns nicht so gefallen haben, sollte der Vollständigkeit halber hingewiesen werden: - nach der Ankunft musste ich das Schloss in Stand setzen. Das Werkzeug hierzu habe ich zum Glück in einem Schuppen auf dem Grundstück gefunden. - das TV-Programm beschränkte sich während unseren Anwesenheit auf öffentlich-rechtliche französische Sender (Kabel- und Satelittenempfang war in der Beschreibung angegeben) Insgesamt haben diese beiden Punkte unsere Urlaubsfreude aber nicht getrübt. Un lugar maravilloso para irse de vacacione

La estancia en esta casa ha sido todo lo que podíamos esperar. La casa se encuentra en una localización increíble, rodeada de árboles y vegetación, lejos del ruido pero cerca de todos los pueblos y castillos obligatorios de visitar por su belleza e historia. La casa fue incluso mejor de lo que nos imaginamos. Un lugar limpio, espacioso, tranquilo y con todas las comodidades que necesitábamos. Nos bañamos a menudo en la pisicina, tómamos el sol, jugamos al ping pong, cenamos muchos días al aire libre. Todo perfecto. Ideal para todo tipo de grupos que busquen hacer turismo por el Perigord. También tengo que dar las gracias a Sylvain por su amabilidad en todo momento y darle la enhorabuena por la casa que tiene. Así como a la mujer que nos atendió a nuestra llegada y en nuestra despedida. Recomiendo sin ninguna reserva este sitio para irse de vacaciones. Si tenemos la oportunidad volveremos a repetir en el mismo sitio. The stay in this house has everything you expect. The house is in an amazing location, surrounded by trees and vegetation, away from noise but close to all the towns and castles mandatory visit for its beauty and history. The house was even better than we imagined. A clean, spacious, quiet and with all the amenities we needed. We bathed often in the swimming pool access, sunbathe, play ping pong, ate many days outdoors. Everything perfect. Ideal for all types of groups looking for touring the Perigord. Also I have to thank Sylvain for his kindness at all times and to congratulate the house you have. Just as the woman who greeted us upon our arrival and our departure. Unreservedly recommend this site to go on holiday. If we have the opportunity again to repeat the same place. a greeting
