Location: Honey Bear Cabin sits in a beautifully appointed neighborhood in Valle Crucis, Banner Elk, yet remains tucked away in its own private, secluded area. You're about 4 miles from the heart of Valle Crucis and 4 miles from Highway 105, putting you within easy reach of Sugar Mountain, Blowing Rock, Beech Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, Appalachian State, the Mast General Store, local wineries, breweries, and more.
LAYOUT:
Main Floor: The spacious main floor features a King bedroom with an ensuite bath, a fully stocked kitchen, a dining area, a cozy living room, and a half bath. A double-sided fireplace adds warmth and charm to the living and dining spaces. It's the kind of space that invites slow mornings and big family dinners.
Lower Floor: Two queen bedrooms, each with their own private bath, giving couples or families the privacy they need. The game room is also on the lower floor featuring a queen-size pullout couch, foosball, a card table with blackjack setup, a Pac-Man arcade and a variety of board games, making it easy for kids (and adults) to disappear into their own world while the rest of the group unwinds upstairs. Rainy days are no problem, there’s endless entertainment for everyone. A laundry room rounds out this level.
Loft Area: The loft area, open to the living space below, has two twin beds that are perfect for additional guests or kids.
Amenities: All four bedrooms, the living room, and the game room are equipped with smart TVs and Roku devices. The cabin is adorned with beautiful handmade furnishings and artwork from local artisans.
Outdoor Space: The outside of this cabin is where the fun really happens. The wraparound porch is lined with rocking chairs, perfect for morning coffee. The swing fire pit is a gathering point after dark for S'mores or if you're feeling adventurous, a pot of chili . Hammocks hang seasonally in the trees. The hot tub is ready year-round. And between the horseshoes, cornhole, and giant Jenga, there's rarely a dull moment. A Weber grill along with another fire pit sits on the back porch, perfect for two people to enjoy a glass of wine before bed. It’s the perfect setting for outdoor fun or quiet relaxation.
We’ve thoughtfully crafted our cabin to be a welcoming, cozy, and a comfortable space for relaxation and quality time together. Whether you’re here to unwind or explore, you’ll feel right at home.
The cabin sits at the end of about 2 miles of gravel mountain road that sustained hurricane damage. The road is not steep or sharply curved, but it is unpaved and NC DOT is actively working on paving. Have the kids on the ready because you may see a deer on the way up...all part of the mountain experience.
* Please note that the distances shown on VRBO's map feature are measured in a straight line rather than actual road travel distances and times. We cannot change their setting for this, and encourage all guests to independently verify distances to desired destinations. * Trash pick-up provided, guests do not need to take trash offsite unless, you have an abundance of trash that will not fit in bear proof trash cans. * Start-up supplies provided that will last a few days * Lawn service is every other Thursday or Friday (weather dependent) afternoon for approximately 10-15 min. If this will interrupt your stay please let me know and I’ll try to reschedule this service. * WINTER: AWD or 4WD is recommended for winter visits when conditions may affect the roads. * We manage our property remotely, so we have exterior cameras positioned toward the parking area and trash cans.

We had a nice weekend at Honey Bear cabin. Two couples with a six and just about three year old. And also an eighteen year old who could help watching those two. Weather was perfect. Total serenity. Layout was outstanding. Three bedrooms each with its own bathroom. Then a two bed loft for the little ones. Although one night t he youngest had to sleep with us because of a "monster". On my list of return visits. THANKS!!

Thank you Phillip, for the kind review. I am very appreciative. I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay and that the layout fit your needs. Thank you for leaving the place tidy and in good condition. Come back and visit us anytime.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Honey Bear Cabin. We did not want to leave. Location was perfect, private and peaceful. We loved being a short drive to the Mast General Store and the park, which our kids loved. The cabin itself was family friendly, well-maintained, very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed, plus some. No doubt the owners love their cabin and enjoy sharing it with others. Lots of space to spread out indoors and the outdoor space had a lot of neat features. Kids loved the basement game room. Adults loved the porch area and cool firepit. Host was hospitable and communicative before and during our stay! All information we needed about the home, checkin/check out were answered before we could ask the question! This place is a true gem and great value. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.

About the host
Hosted by Hope Reales
Having spent 20 years in the military respectively, traveling has become an addiction to both my husband and I. Before short term rentals were a big thing we traveled the world always on the hunt for quaint homes with a reflection of the culture around us. We created our rental home with that same vision to give our guests a true mountain experience full of great memories.
Why they chose this property
Tucked into a quiet, peaceful neighborhood, you get the seclusion you came for. Our neighbors are friendly, but the lots are spaced well enough that you'll hardly know they're there. It's the kind of place where you can breathe. What we love most is that everything is within easy reach without feeling like you're in the middle of it all. Whether you're heading to the slopes, local shops, restaurants, or the area's favorite outdoor spots, we sit right in the sweet spot between all of it. Less time driving, more time enjoying.
What makes this property unique
We've designed the cabin to make you feel completely at home and comfortable. We've put real thought into the details that matter most. We have hotel-quality bedding, our linens are soft, fresh, and chosen for comfort. The furniture is sturdy, cozy, and made for actually relaxing in, whether that's curling up by the fire or gathering around the table for a meal. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality cookware, dishes, and everything you need to cook a real dinner.
