Our stay was a perfect Thanksgiving getaway. We had plenty of room for family to enjoy the beautiful house and views, and the kitchen was well-equipped to prepare a large meal. Big Blue House was wonderful! The response time when we had an issue with the heat was quick and friendly. We loved the location and the proximity to restaurants, fishing and sights. We loved our last minute vacation and would absolutely stay there again!

The vicinity to the beach was exactly what I wanted. The house is in very nice shape for a home of this age, with many modern upgrades. The fact we could have our dog come with us was one of the biggest deciding factors for me. It was kind of a spur of the moment decision to take a trip ( about 2 weeks) and honestly can't believe there was availability on such short notice for 7 night's. Would not hesitate to consider coming back. The restaurant at the pier is a short walk, and the food was great.

This property was built during the early 20th century. This house was used as an officer's quarters during World War II. General McArthur actually stayed in this house at one time.
Aside from its history, it is only steps from the Willoughby Beach. The view from the back porch is spectacular, especially the sunrises! You will be amazed at how close you are to the water. It will be an experience you will not forget!

What makes this property unique

Prime location in Hampton Roads Virginia. The house is located on Willoughby Spit next to a fabulous fishing pier and restaurant. Downtown Norfolk is 15 minutes, Virginia Beach front is 30 minutes, Hampton is 15 minutes, Newport News, 30 minutes, and Colonial Williamsburg is 45 minutes away. If you want to take a day trip to Charlottesville and visit Thomas Jefferson's home, it is worth it! It is 2 and 1/2 hours each way.
