About this property

Cozy, Listed boutique cottage with log burners and roll top bath.

Little Turret is part of the old farm buildings of the Beauport Home Farm built in 1838 and in its time housed the farm workers. Situated above the now converted old forge and cowshed and amongst a few more modern homes, Little Turret is full of character. It has recently been renovated to provide all the modern appliances whilst keeping original features to reflect the age of the property. Tastefully decorated with a mixture of Farrow and Ball colours and William Morris wallpaper you won't be disappointed. Access is up the stone spiral staircase in the turret with its interesting ceiling, which leads to the lounge with a log burner, TV, Netflix, Disney+, DVD player, choice of DVDs and 2 sofas. The property has an ample dining room with vintage furnishings and a further woodburner ideal for cozy Autumn and Winter meals. Off the dining room is a small but quirky cloakroom. The fully equipped galley kitchen has a dishwasher, washer/dryer, oven, hob, microwave and fridge. The double bedroom is off the lounge with quality, luxury bedding. Please ask if you require an extra bed for a young person . We can provide a foldaway bed and bedding.

Upstairs you will find the bedroom with exposed brick work, a king size Rococo bed with quality bedding, stripped floorboards and far reaching views from the unusual round window over Hastings towards the sea. The spacious bathroom has a roll top bath with a hand shower attachment. Cotton towels and individual wrapped soaps provided for that touch of luxury.

Little Turret has its own driveway for at least 2 cars and a pretty decking area with table and seating for 4 to enable you to enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon tea.

Little Turret is ideally located in the heart of the famous 1066 Country a short drive from Hastings seafront, the historic town of Battle with its Abbey, the beautiful town of Rye. It's just a 10 minute drive into St. Leonards where you are spoilt for choice for antique shops, cafes and galleries. St. Leonards even has its own independent cinema with restaurant and art gallery. Hastings Old Town is a short drive away with many events held during the year. Hastings is known for its Pirate Day and is a must if you are in the area. It also hosts an annual Seafood and Wine Festival in September and Hastings Day Bonfire and Firework Display in October. In November nearby Battle hosts a Bonfire Night Procession and amazing firework display from Battle Abbey.

Hastings has a stunning contemporary designed pier after the original was destroyed by fire several years ago. Now open for the public to enjoy views of the town from out to sea.

Hastings Old Town also has a mixture of antique shops and cafes alongside amusements, crazy golf and everything you'd expect from a seaside holiday. The picturesque narrow streets and fishing huts set between the 2 cliffs are worth a visit.

A little further out you can find plenty of walks, cycle routes and areas of outstanding natural beauty. For those interested in history you can visit Battle Abbey famously founded by William the Conqueror, Bodiam Castle complete with moat and turrets and Herstmonceux Castle to name but a few historical attractions.

With so many attractions and events you will barely have time to enjoy the home comforts of the cottage.

Some midweek nights in Autumn may be available for one night minimum. Please ask.

About the host

Host profile image
Jon and I inherited the property from my late father. It its situated above our home and we spent 2 years lovingly renovating it while being careful to retain its character.
Jon is a graphic designer but turned his hand to all the trades during the project. I work part time in a local boutique but am on hand for our guests. We both wanted to create an environment where our guests will feel comfortable whilst also appreciating the design and styling of the house. We have a busy life with a large family and enjoy Little Turret ourselves when its not booked as it has features we are unable to have in our home downstairs.

Why they chose this property

The property has been above our home for 20 years and as it was previously owned by my father it seemed obvious to renovate it and bring it to life. He was a hospitable and generous man who loved nice things around him. We feel our Little Turret has enabled us to respect him, reflect his personality and we have been able to incorporate some of his belongings in the house.

What makes this property unique

The entrance is interesting and houses a stone spiral staircase and decorations in the dome will intrigue you. We also invite you to prepare for a wedding day and welcome additional members of your bridal party(hairdresser, photographer etc) to get ready within an enchanting building with its own stone spiral staircase. We have facilities for storing your wedding drinks, table dressings etc for the big day. We could also provide additional full length mirrors if requested.
