About this property
Spacious Family Home In Town With Spectacular Lake And Mountain Views
Come stay at this beautiful home for a perfect summer or winter getaway. This 4 bedroom house sits on a hillside with panoramic views of Shadow Mountain Lake to the south and Mt. Baldy to the east. The family-friendly vacation village of Grand Lake is a short walk away and offers restaurants, cafes, galleries, western themed shops, ice cream parlors, a small grocery store, and live theater. Miniature golf and a go-cart track are a short walk away.
In the summer enjoy fishing, hiking, boating, and golfing. The house is within minutes of the western entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. You can hike right into the park from the town of Grand Lake or drive Trail Ridge Road, which crests at over 12,000 feet and has many overlooks of this unique alpine and subalpine world. Hike into the backcountry, summit a peak, or go on a Ranger led activity; you are close to everything this 100+ year old National Park has to offer.
Wildlife activity in the area is common in both summer and winter. It is common to see elk and moose year around. Pica, marmots, deer, and bighorn sheep are frequently seen in the national park.
In winter you can hit the trails on snowshoes or cross country skis. There is a great Nordic ski center nearby which also has a free tubing hill and the town maintains a small skating rink in winter that is free to the public. The low key ski area Granby Ranch is 25 minutes away, and the large ski resort of Winter Park is just 45 minutes away for those who need more extreme terrain.
The home features an open floor plan with a well supplied kitchen opening onto the living and dining rooms, with high ceilings, fireplace, and large windows looking out onto the lake and mountains. The Great Room opens out to a large deck where you can relax and enjoy the views and mountain air. The dining room table has room to seat ten with room for three more along the kitchen bar. The open loft above the Great Room offers additional living space with TV, sofa, and table for board games and puzzles with 5 chairs.
The private master suite, just off the loft, has a king-size bed and a full bathroom with large jetted tub and separate shower. On the main level are two additional bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with two twin beds, and a full bath. On the lower level is the kids' and teens' hideaway - a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom and a twin size bed with trundle. The lower level also includes a 3/4 bathroom and washing machine and dryer.
WiFi and cable TV are provided. There is a DVD player in the upstairs loft with a library of movies, games and books.
