We stayed for a month and had a truly perfect vacation. The place was more great than great pic:)—very clean, comfortable, beautiful and well-equipped with everything we needed. The balcony and trees, flowers were beautifully maintained, and we enjoyed the lovely view every dayThe neighbors and other guests (next house) were so kind and quiet, making all peaceful and safe. The beach was really so close and not crowded. , and the owner scott was thoughtful and provided beach essentials like chairs and a parasol. I really miss that house! We had a wonderful vacation in beautiful house

Perfect Place to Stay

Scott and his property on Duck Road are everything you would want in a Kailua escape. I love the proximity to beach access point 89.Castles is a beautiful beach. We loved the beds and the amenities. I would not stay anywhere else. We will never stay anywhere else.Mahalo Nui Loa-The Burnett’s

Excellent location

Walking distance to Kailua Beach and quick access to Pali Highway for travel to Honolulu (~20 min). Convenient to have Safeway very close by and Kailua town only a couple minutes drive. Plenty of room in the property and we loved the lenai.

Hawaiian Bliss!

The 3 bedroom house was very comfortable, had everything we needed (and when some pots and pans were missing, Scott purchased them right away). We loved getting up early and walking the short way to the beach for a sunrise beach walk. Spectacular! I enjoyed sharing my sunrise photos each morning with friends. It was delightful hanging out on the lanai. There is a punee for great naps, and a very comfortable hanging "egg chair". We loved every minute of our visit!!

We had a wonderful stay at Scott’s rental in Kailua! The location is fantastic—just a short walk to the beach, which truly felt like one of the best we’ve come across in O‘ahu. Having such easy access, along with convenient parking, made our stay even more enjoyable.Scott provided beach toys, surfboards, and a cart, which made our beach days easy and fun for the whole family. Communication with him was smooth, and he was always friendly and relaxed, which gave the stay a very welcoming feel.The rental is on the top floor overlooking a road with a bit of traffic, though it was never too bothersome. There’s no air conditioning, but the natural breeze through the open windows kept things comfortable. The house itself is very spacious, giving everyone plenty of room, and while some things like the kitchen supplies and bathrooms could use a little update, everything was functional and met our needs.Kailua itself is a cozy town with all the shops you could want, making it easy to grab anything you need. The location also worked well for exploring the rest of the island—close enough to attractions yet still peaceful and laid back.All in all, this was a great spot for our family. I can definitely recommend the rental and the location to anyone considering a stay here, and I wish Scott all the best. We had a great time in this part of paradise!

Kailua retreat

The description and pictures of the living area did not match. We expected a hide-a-bed and Got a sectional couch. The picture also showed a rattan sofa and two chairs. There was one chair. It just changed up how we thought we'd be lounging. The bed on the lanai was filthy! After sitting on it a couple times, we avoided it! These were very minor things. The last two weeks of our stay, we were unable to reach Scott?! His phone was shut off and we are worried about him. Is he ok?

Kailua Dreaming

Can't say enough positive things about Scott and his property. Scott was courteous, informative, available, responsive--all the hallmarks of an exceptional host. The location was ideal for us: 6 minute walk from front door to toes in the sand, quiet neighborhood, close proximity to Kailua Town and to highways going to Town and elsewhere on the island. The unit has a spacious floor plan and the lanai was our favorite place to hang out. We had six adults staying there and never felt crowded. We all had a fantastic stay in large part due to Scott's aloha spirit and the comfort and location of his place. Will definitely return! Mahalo!

Best Spot on Oahu

We lived in this unit for 6 months and couldn't have been happier. The unit is conveniently located to shops & restaurants, walking distance to my favorite beach on the island, and nestled in a safe residential neighborhood. The apartment is clean, has everything you need, and pretty spacious. The large lanai was our favorite space. Scott is very reasonable and easy to work with. He is attentive to needs and concerns while also making you feel like the space is yours. The location was absolutely perfect for our family and we're extremely grateful to have found it! Would love to visit again some day.

Wonderful month in Kailua

Our family of 5 enjoyed our time in this home. Kailua is a great home base to enjoy Oahu. We loved being able to walk easily to the beach. The beach provided a small surf break for long boarding which was great for my kids. Kailua is also a great spot for kiteboarding. We had plenty of wind in January. Thanks Scott for all your suggestions on hikes, food and surf spots. The house was comfortable and easy to feel at home while we were there. I only wish we booked a longer stay.

Great location, comfortably-equipped home!

My husband and I stayed in Scott’s place for a month, working the first few weeks, and joined the last week by 2 of our kids + their 2 friends. Having three comfortable bedrooms and two baths, plus a huge, comfortable main room and gorgeous lanai, allowed everyone to spread out. Scott graciously provided a beach umbrella, two snorkel sets and four boogie boards, plus coolers making for great days at the nearby beach! Scott’s place was perfectly represented. However, my expectations and failure to adequately research meant I assumed air conditioning and a pool. It has neither. Scott provided lots of effective fans, and to be fair, the ocean breezes kept the temperature quite comfortable. Adjacent to the rental, Scott has a larger rental with a pool, which was occupied long-term by a family relocating to HI. Unfortunately, their 5-year-old enjoyed screaming as her preferred method of communication, frequently in the midst of our business calls, and at 5:30 am on Christmas. Scott was a gracious, conscientious, and attentive host, as appropriate. I recommend his home as a great value in a fantastic location!

Perfect!!!!!

The condo was clean, excellent location close to the beach and grocery stores and spacious. The girls needed something very comfortable since they were studying online throughout the day. Scott, the owner, was very attentive and easy to communicate with and answered the emails through VRBO almost immediately. The only negative thing is there is no A/C and it was a bit warm for them since they were in the condo all day studying. At night the temperature was fine. Overall they loved the experience and lodgings.

Love Kailua

We had 6 of our children (adults) and 8 grandchildren come to visit at different times. The unit is perfectly set up for our purpose. Scott was very accommodating , asking if everything was ok every time we saw him. What can you say about the beach which was 5 min walk and loved by everyone. Loved the town which is not touristy, it provides all your needs. There was a fair amount of traffic noise during the day but quiet at nite. Aside from the lovely beach we all enjoyed the bed on the lanai. Mahalo Scott. Aloha

Nice property in great location.

We had a great stay at this property. The location is excellent – easy access to beach, restaurants and groceries. About ½ hour from Honolulu. We had 3 couples stay there and there was plenty of room for all of us. The master bedroom suite is particularly nice. The spacious lanai is an especially nice feature. We used it a lot. The owner, Scott, was very helpful relative to the property and things to do on Oahu. Be aware that this is a second floor property so one flight of stairs.

We had an excellent stay in Kailua. The place was clean, spacious and well maintained. The location is great with easy beach access and close to restaurants and many shopping opportunities in town. Scott, the owner, was extremely helpful and easily accessible with communication. We appreciated the great advice and tips on what to do and where to go. The large lanai was great to hang out on after a day at the beach with a nice breeze blowing through. We will being going back to Kailua soon and will definitely stay at this place again! We had no issues or any downsides to this place.

A Splendid Month in Kialu. a, Hawaii

Our month of January, 2018 at our "Home Away--from home" was outstanding. My wife and I enjoyed it as did our family members to joined us at various times during the month. We pass along our compliments to the rental team of Richard, Christ and Beth and owner, Scott. This rental home met our needs and wants for all of us.We thanks Chris and Beth for the quick response to our requests. It was a pleasure to be able to walk to the fine beach and we appreciate the information we received for trips we made on Oahu including the North Shore, Waikiki, Mocapuku LightHouse and others. The home we had was excellent and well cared for.. . .This was our fifth visit to Hawaii including one in 1955 when I served in the army. And it was one of the best trips if not THE best, thanks for you all. We recommend other families visit here and we thank the rental team for helping us have a memorable month. Clean, relaxing and convenient location in Kailua Beach

We had a fantastic vacation at this rental. It is very clean and spacious and the lanai gives you a great outdoor space any time of day. The area is breezy which is really nice for sleeping. We had a short walk to the most amazing Kailua Beach. Sand is beautiful and the ocean is warm. There is a grocery store a two minute drive from the rental and we were only 30 minutes to Honolulu. The boulevard this rental is located on has some traffic but it is not too noisy, just makes you feel like you are a local. I would stay at this rental again the owner was helpful and we had access to boogie boards and chairs to the beach. Just lovely.

Location, property, and customer service completely exceeded our expectations!

We absolutely loved this quiet neighborhood property with its 5 minute walk to the beach. The owner supplied us with all the beach gear we needed. He was helpful with all of our questions and requests--allowing us to truly make the most of our stay in Kailua. We were able to easily drive to numerous adventurous hikes, easier walks, serene beaches, places to eat and shop, Waikiki, and the North Shore for activities. I couldn't believe that the property supplied everything we needed with the exception of food and personal supplies. Laundry facilities were very convenient. The property layout was incredibly spacious for our group of 6. The 3 bedrooms and 2 baths made it convenient and private. The kitchen and gathering room was a great space with a very large couch. We loved our personal lanai to eat out on and see the views. My husband was initially worried about no a/c, but the windows did a great job of keeping the place cool and comfortable. It was evident that the place was new and in immaculate condition. We would definitely stay here again!! Thanks for your hospitality.

Great Family Rental!

Our family of 5 stayed at Kailua Mountain View for Christmas vacation this year. The rental was just the right size for us. All the kids had their own beds and a nice bathroom to share. We had a spacious master bedroom with a good sized bathroom. Everything we needed to enjoy the beach was ready for us... towels, mats, boogie boards, etc. The walk to the beach was easy! We even spotted the Presidential Motorcade several times on our daily walks. The rental was comfortable, clean, and a perfect location for us. Thank you for helping make our stay in Kailua so nice.

Why they chose this property

Kailua is first and foremost a beach community. In fact, the steady onshore trade winds makes Kailua Beach one of the world’s preeminent windsurfing destinations.
In 1998, Kailua Beach Park was named “America’s Best Beach” by coastal expert Doctor Stephen Leatherman and then “retired” from subsequent consideration.

What makes this property unique

The Windward Oahu town of Kailua—population 36,513—is only a 30-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of downtown Honolulu, but it may as well be a world away. There are Oahu residents who go for years without making the drive over to this part of the island. And to be truthful, Kailua residents are perfectly okay with that. They rather enjoy having a scenic slice of Hawaiian heaven all to themselves.
Getting to Kailua was always a challenge. Ancient Hawaiians only had two options: hiking over the Koolau Mountains or sailing around Makapuu Point along the island’s eastern shores. More often than not, they chose the direct route and climbed a trail up and over the pali (cliff). Today, most drivers reach Kailua via the Pali Highway (Route 61). No matter how rough of a day Kailua residents may have, the feeling they get as they emerge from the highway’s tunnel and take in the sweeping panorama in front of them is one of instant comfort and reverence.
