The home in the orchards worked perfectly as our home base for a wedding at Castle Farms. The views of the orchard and Lake Michigan were fantastic. The home was clean and had everything we needed.
This is our second visit to this beautiful home. Perfect location to get to Traverse City, Torch Lake, Charlevoix, and Mackinaw. Gorgeous setting on the farm. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets right on the farm. Short walk to the bakery with the most delicious fruits, pies, doughnuts, and brownies. We will definitely be staying again!
We were in the area for a wedding. We had 7 adults and 3 cars . The house was clean and perfect for our gathering. We even had other family members stop by for dinner. The house and driveway is spacious enough to allow this. We walked over to the farm market and tasting area- great selection and fun. We even met the owner ! We would like to return again.

Location was perfect but everything else was in bad shape
Property location is good but everything else in bad shape. It's an old property and not well maintained. Curtains are cheap and the beds make noise and poor quality and nobody in the family had a good sleep. Kitchen utensils are in bad shape and I didn't used most of them.
It was a great week long vacation stay. We enjoyed the view of the cottage, fire pit, board games and landscaping. We also used it as a base to visit nearby cities.
This house was perfect for our family to get away from the distractions and aliens time together. There was plenty of room for our family of 5 to come together for meals, games and just hanging out. By there was also plenty of room fire everyone to spread out and get some rest. Beautiful location. Being on the orchard and by the market was great - our kids walked over each morning to get fresh cider donuts. Plenty of nearby outdoor activities and awesome scenery.
This is the perfect place to totally unwind and recharge with out distraction. Just down the road is the Antrim Nature reserve with a nice beach and easy woodland walks. Or a bit further is a township park with picnic tables and benches beside the lake. But the best part is the view from the front of the house. We ate on the patio out front when we could but even from inside the view goes on uninterrupted.
We had an awesome vacation. Our children didn’t want to leave. We spent time with grandparents close by and lots of time by Antrim creek swimming. We had such a relaxing vacation even with the children along. We will be back someday I’m sure.
It contained everything in the house description and things are in excellent conditions. Very beautiful location in the orchard with sufficient appliances and tableware for all of us (3 persons).
This property let us have an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING weekend for my friends Bachelorette Weekend. Perfect house for the 4 of us. Off the beaten path but still close enough to everything for us to be able to explore. The views from the front porch and the orchard are amazing!! Sara is amazing!!! Definitely recommend checking out the tasting room and market while staying at the house. We are all planning our next stay here with each other for another girls trip and with our own families.
Perfect Fit: We need a pleasant place to stay close to Torch Lake and my brother's cottage.
How could we ask for more? Pleasant environment, beautiful view, comfy with all the creature comforts. Just a great place to spend some of our Michigan vacation time.
We stayed at Rex Beach Orchard-and Beach house for a vacation and preparing for a family wedding.
The cottage, market, sunsets, beach were beautiful! Communication with Sara was excellent.. would 100% stay again.
Thank you to the staff at Royal Farms.. enjoyed the ciders, wine and amazing desserts!
5 star all the way!
Great cottage with a fantastic location and speculator view
We stayed four nights from June 5 to June 9. It was a great vacation stay with lots of sweet memories! My kids loved pretty much everything with the cottage. Even the fact of sharing a room with two beds facing each other excited them from the very beginning. They loved playing at the acre big wavy front yard, running up and down or having a water gun fight. I enjoyed sitting under the creeping willow tree, watching them play with a breeze. They loved The fire pit and the yummy BBQ skewers dad made over the fire. They even learned to make a perfectly browned mash mellow for the s’mores by themselves. When they are inside, they made good use of the many board games the host kindly stocked in the closet. Lots of laughters from playing the games filled the room while I was cooking or cleaning the dishes.
We often took a walk to the nearby orchard, enjoying the gorgeous Michigan sunset. Even in the room from the windows or sitting on the front porch, goregeous views would roll out in in front of your eyes.
We had a great cottage life in and by the house. But We also use it as base to visite nearby towns and beaches. Very convenient location for that purpose as well.
We got lots of sweet memories from this vacation stay at the cottage.
Thank you Sara for sharing this great property!
We really enjoyed our stay. The charming house was neat and clean, had everything we needed, and was comfortable. It was spacious enough for 5 adults, 2 kids, and a baby. The location was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. We enjoyed walking through the apple orchard and the beautiful view of the lake. The firepit was enjoyable on the crisp summer nights. Highly recommend!
We came up here for our anniversary, hoping to get away from home but not be surrounded by a ton of people. This was the perfect spot. Surrounded by the orchards, close to the beach, with coffee and yummy treats within walking distance. My husband was a little shocked there was no TV or Wifi, but it ended up being an added bonus for unplugging. Antrim Creek Natrual Area is just a short drive down the road and the perfect spot for watching the sunset. We'd absolutely stay here again.
Great comfortable place to stay. Views of Lake Michigan and the orchards are beautiful. Great baked goods and drinks at Royal Farms with just a brief walk through the orchard. We used this as a home base to visit Torch Lake, Charlevoix and Elk Rapids. Sunsets at the beach a mile down the road. Very relaxing!
Beautiful property nestled in a gorgeous orchard. Spacious, clean, comfortable home with all the essentials. Sara was a wonderful, attentive host and the food and cider through the orchard were spectacular. My family loved walking through the orchard for fresh donuts and scones! Quick drive down the road to a beautiful beach and we found lots of petoskey stones there. Hope to come back again.
We loved our stay here! We were up for a golf weekend and had access to lots of courses. The property was super clean at check-in and Sara’s communication was great. We loved being able to walk through the orchard to the onsite cider and wine tasting room. I would highly recommend staying here!
We loved the house and location. It was quiet and a very open floor plan that was great for family. It was outfitted with everything we needed. We would definitely consider going back especially in cooler weather. Sara was great to work with and we love their shop just through the orchard. The only downside is that the curtains are sheers so you will wake up with the sun but we do that anyway so it wasn't a big deal.

About the host
Hosted by Sara McGuire
Patrick and Sara McGuire are the owners of Royal Farms Inc, a fruit farm that they started in 1996. The farm has grown to include a farm market, bakery, and winery. They are so excited to offer a place on the farm for visitors to enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer.
Why they chose this property
This house/ cottage is located adjacent to the Royal Farms U-Pick orchard and just a short walk through the orchard to the farm market where guests can get fresh baked goods and wine. While also being just a quick drive or nice walk to a Lake Michigan Beach, Antrim Creek Natural Area. Just a moment from US 31 the property is convenient to so many favorite Northern Michigan tourist communities, top notch golf course, fabulous foodie restaurants, and is the first stop on the Petoskey Wine Region Trail.
What makes this property unique
We absolutely love that this cottage captures all the beauty of Northern Michigan, the amazing sunsets overlooking Lake Michigan, expansive farm views, and quiet clear nights. Having our farm market just a short walk gives guests the opportunity to enjoy local foods and wines. A walk through the orchard for your morning scone and coffee, or meat pasty for lunch, or sipping some wines and hard cider all right from the farm.
