The Carriage House was an amazing place to stay for two nights. Very clean, comfortable beds, beautiful original art (paintings by the owner Ellen), all essentials provided and more. The renovation of the original carriage house is fabulous!
Beautiful and very very clean. So many thoughtful extras in the house. Could easily walk everywhere and keep the car parked in driveway. My favorite things were the rocking chairs and porch swing overlooking shady yard.
The carriage house suite was very clean. Everything we needed was there and very well organized. The beds were very comfortable. We parked our car and walked everywhere. My niece stopped in to see us. Her comment was this is where she would definitely stay if she visited the area.

We had a wonderful stay at the Carriage House! Ellen was very welcoming and communication was great. The house was charming, comfortable and shiny clean. The location is perfect for exploring Beaufort. We could easily walk to shops, restaurants, museums, and tours. We often sat on the porch for a cup of tea or glass of wine in the afternoon. We hope to stay again next year.

Everything was great. Check in was easy and a pleasure to meet the owner. The location was close and with in walking distance to lots of sights. The carriage house was wonderfully decorated and comfortable.
Beautiful stay. Second time being back and location could not be better. Easy walk downtown or through the historic neighborhoods. Wonderful little apartment with everything you need.

Doug, you didn't have to pay for the wine glass; we have lots of those and they are not expensive. And my housekeeper really appreciated the tip and the stripped bed. You are the perfect guests!
Thank you so much!
This cottage is the perfect place to stay with visiting Beaufort and the surrounding sea islands. As well stocked, cute decor. I’m very clean. Is centrally located close to downtown and the hosts or fabulous and kind. Would absolutely stay here again on my next visit.
Location! Location! Location! This place is phenomenal. So close to everything. 1 block to the marina for awesome sunsets! The hostess has great taste and there is so much attention to detail. You can’t go wrong with this rental.
Absolutely charming and beautifully appointed carriage house! The perfect location for enjoying everything that Beaufort has to offer. Walking distance (2 blocks) from “town” and the river park. An easy loop through historic Beaufort for getting your steps in. And Southern hospitality at its best from beginning to end.
This is wonderful place to stay and is conveniently located in the historic district. The carriage house is very comfortable and nicely furnished, and the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely stay there again in the future.

My wife and I stay at this property every time we visit generally twice a year. You simply can’t have better host or a better location. If I could give them more than five stars I’d gladly would.

About the host
Hosted by Ellen and Mike Tomy
When Mike and I purchased Craven House, it had been neglected for many years. After a lot of hard work it is now reborn. It truly is a rich piece of history, and we love living in this South Carolina coastal town with our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bonny Blue. Mike is a retired architect currently involved in Beaufort city and county boards. Ellen is a retired portrait painter. Vacations from Atlanta down to Beaufort every summer to visit family, we bought this property because of our love for architecture, history and Beaufort itself. Ellen's family roots are in South Carolina, so it is like coming home to stay.
Why they chose this property
The Carriage House on Craven is central to all that is happening in Beaufort. During the many yearly festivals, parking is not easy to find in town. Just stay at the carriage house, leave the car and the festivals are a block away. Meander through one-of-a-kind shops on Bay Street and enjoy fresh local seafood in Beaufort's unique restaurants. If you don't want to eat out, a fully fitted kitchen is ready for you.
What makes this property unique
Set back from the street, the patio is a quiet place to sit and visit with friends or have a romantic dinner. Surrounded by historic homes and churches built in past centuries, one is taken back into the 19th century Old South. We live on the property and are at your beacon call anytime you need anything.
