About this property

Mangonui Rustic Dream

The bach is a typical very rustic kiwi family bach set back on a hill with clear views across the harbour to Mangonui. This bach is definitely not the silver service of bach s but has what is required to have fun and enjoy the sunny north.
It is very private and away from the mading crowds but a short drive to the beachs and in the evenings fantastic views across the harbour.
Has a detached area from the main building for the sleeping accommodation with kitchen and dinning area. There is one tiled toilet and shower off the kitchen.
Has pool table and clear open plan living area to lounge away those hot days when you need a break from the sun. There is a large tower/balcony with stair access to enjoy those evening meals watching the harbour.
Has large open space for games and plenty room to park vehicles or boats also has flat area for tents. We have camped more people in tents but we would need to discuss this if required.
The bach is on tank water and has filter for drinking,10 minutes to Mangonui Village and Whangaroa Golf Course.

Check-in was easy and convenient especially given our late arrival. Bach is clean, beds very comfy and glorious views of Mangonui harbour. Pool table great on wet days. We're looking at when to book our next visit. Thank you for sharing your bach with us!

We really enjoyed our stay. Good location a short drive from Mangonui and Cooper's Beach. Loads of space to yourself with an elevated rural outlook. Was really great being able to bring our dog with us.

Beautiful property great stay

Beautiful location for stargazing

We really enjoyed our stay. Greg was easy to deal with, accommodating with our requests and prompt with his response. It was a last-minute trip that we manage to book and enjoyed our time.

Great views and location

It is a great trouble-free place with plenty of room for a family of four. Having the bedrooms detached from the living, kitchen, bathroom was okay for us as we had good weather. Great place for it's price.

The bach is a really lovely spot for a holiday and we would definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a break and some relaxation. The host was wonderful – very kind, understanding, and easy to communicate with. For our colleagues who were in the area for work, it wasn’t quite ideal as they mainly needed somewhere in town to return, eat, rest, and start again the next day. But for a relaxing getaway, this place is perfect. Definitely recommend.

Peaceful paradise

My partner and i had a great stay at Gregs property. The cabins had everything we needed to enjoy all the wonderful things northland has to offer. We loved how quiet and peaceful the property felt. Our dogs also enjoyed having so much space to run around. Greg was easy to communicate with and very accomadating. Thanks for having us!

Value for money

Basic kiwi batch 5 mins from Mangonui. Lovely views back over the harbour and a very quiet and relaxing spot. Bach is basic but has all you need with a good gas BBQ. No shade outdoors so best bring your own as can get very hot in summer. Not suitable for boats due to driveway with overhanging trees. Despite advice saying there are washing facilities in the area - there are not. Nearest is probably Kaitaia or Kerikeri (Z Taipa does not offer) so washing your boat is a nightmare. Could be a bit cleaner but overall was good value for money over the New Year period.

Nice location and outlook

A nice location in the hills overlooking Mangonui. Standard accomodation without being fancy. Be aware, no TV (it's not listed, but you may take it for granted), or Wifi (not a surprise as the property is up in the hills). The Lounge/ Kitchen unit is separated from the Bedroom unit by a 20m walkway, not a big deal, but not apparent in the listing.

Great location

Definitely not the Ritz but more Run down than “rustic”. All surface areas were clean but the place could definitely do with a more thorough clean more often as we had to dust and vacuum the living and sleeping quarters especially to try and get rid of a stubborn stench. Didn’t work. The main living quarters(kitchen/bathroom/lounge area) had a broken lock on it which was unnerving and we tried to contact the owner about and left messages etc but got no reply. Thankfully the sleeping quarters locked so we kept our valuables in there. Apart from this we still enjoyed our time in the area we loved the location and being close to all the beaches we adore.

Thanks so much for the feedback and we appreciate your time taken to respond. We have checked with the cleaning company about the suggested smell and they have since been to the property to do a thorough clean. As mentioned the top bolt was broken in the previous rental which was being sourced from an external company, however as explained the doors could still be locked you just have to use the keys. I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Mangonui and look forward to seeing you again in northland.

Great location nice and private

Really neat spot with great views to come back and chill out at after that day of adventuring. Great location less than a 10 minute drive to the beach & 5 minutes to Manganui. Loved our stay, just needed an umbrella to be able to enjoy the beautiful outdoor setting. We will be back!
