Great location in downtown Sarasota
We had a great stay in Sarasota. I reserved this place primarily for its location—walking distance to almost everything: Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Publix Supermarket, wide variety of restaurants around Main Street, Bayfront Park. SCAT bus service only two doors away. This place was perfect for that, and Andrey is a very good host. Other positive features were: Ground floor unit with no exterior or interior stairs. We liked having a front door directly to the outside and being located at the back of the property, away from the street. Roomy and bright interior: ~ 900+ sq. ft living area, and lots of windows. Private garage parking & separate laundry room w/very nice front-loading washer & dryer. Room to set up a drying rack or ironing board.
There were two negative aspects to the unit: (1) the furniture and (2) the internet. Both couches in the living room were very uncomfortable—the smaller one was actually unusable. In the bedroom, there was only one small, 3 drawer chest for clothes/personal items. We had problems with the internet the entire duration of our visit, primarily from frequent, brief dropouts. This was very annoying when trying to watch TV or send emails, and unacceptable when trying to do any live-streaming video games. The internet went completely down over New Year’s weekend, and we were without all TV and internet for 3 days. Andrey was very prompt in calling the provider, but they didn’t get a technician in to work the problem until after the holiday. Internet was restored, but we continued to have the short dropouts. If a hi-speed, high-reliable internet is very important to you, you may want to pick another place.
I would give the host a 5 for attentiveness and prompt responses, but the unit itself a 3. With improvement in furniture and a higher-speed internet service, this could be a 5 also.
