The home was exactly as advertised. It had all the necessities and was very clean. The location is great on the river. The owner was fantastic and communicated with us very quickly.
We came here for rest and relaxation after my mother in laws passing. This is exactly what we were looking for!! This is one of the best stocked homes we've been in. Very clean and our hostesses was very kind and helpful. Will definitely be returning.
Very clean property, the best stocked house we ever saw. Nice and quiet area, great located. Very kind and friendly neighbors. A lot of fishes in the river. We enjoyed our stay and for sure we will be back!
Everything the ad stated. Conveniently located, easy access, by the river, gorgeous view of the river. Enjoyed meeting the owner.
The house is handicap accessible. Only issue was the shower could have had a shower seat and handrails.
Thanks for the bottle water and ice that was provided. Everything needed was provided.
Cottage was very neat and clean. It had everything we needed. There is a basket with restaurant menus and places to see, which was very useful. Very nice fire pit, with enough firewood that washes up on shore to use. It’s a beautiful and quiet place to sit at night with the fire and watch the barges go by. I would highly recommend you try Colson Kayak it was a great trip. There are some cards in the basket. The owner was very helpful with answering all our questions. Would definitely stay there again.

Paulina and friends left the house neat and clean. They were very cooperative and followed the house rules carefully. I would definitely rent to them again and I highly recommend them as guests.
My husband and I spent 6 nights at this comfortable house on the Mississippi River. Jeanine was the perfect host, and checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed. We did. The house has everything you could need, even beach towels!! We only used the king bed in the master, but it was very comfortable. The showers were nice, with great water pressure. There are patios on the front and back porches, with good views of the river from the back porch and from the living room, and master bedroom. The coffee maker was a bit complicated, but easy to use once I got the hang of it. Nice to have a gas grill, and a gas stove, even though we ate out for every meal. We’ll definitely book this place on future trips to the area.

Beautiful location with lovely accommodations
My husband and I spent six nights in this spacious riverfront home while visiting family in the area. Everything was top shelf and beyond our expectations. The kitchen, bathrooms and all the interior surfaces appeared new or nearly new and were very comfortable. The kitchen was fully appointed with everything a cook could possibly need including a dishwasher, microwave, small appliances, cookware, dishes and more. The bathrooms were clean and modern with plenty of water pressure and hot water. Central air conditioning and 5 ceiling fans kept us cool and comfy in every room. There were decks on the front and back of the house. It was a beautiful and peaceful location right on the Mississippi River where we watched barges, fishing boats, jet skis and Pelicans. This was a very zen visit and we hope to be able to return again in the future. Great place for boating, fishing, grilling, or just relaxing. Many thanks to the Tufties! We're so glad we didn't stay in a hotel.
Beautiful home away from home on the river! The house had everything we needed, they really have thought of everything. Very clean and cozy!
Fast response from the owner when communicating. Very friendly, caring and accommodating.
We give this place a 10/10 and highly recommend! 😀
My wife and I, both seniors, spent nine wonderful nights here. The house was very clean (even by my wife's standards!) and comfortable. All appliances - washer, dryer, A/C, etc. - worked as they should. The kitchen was well stocked with all cooking necessities, even a wide variety of condiments. Jeanine is readily accessible and responsive, a pleasure to deal with.
Friendly neighbors, too! Can't say enough about being right on the river - we found time each day to sit outside, relax, and just watch the river flow. Plenty of activities in the area, from guided kayak tours by Kyle at Colson Kayak (highly recommended!), to hiking at Mississippi Palisades State Park, to walking the levees, to eating out (Faithful Pilot in Leclair on the Iowa side outstanding), to walking picturesque local towns (Galena being a highlight). All in all, a great vacation at a great location - many thanks, Jeanine!
Nice little house, will stay there again. Great view of the Mississippi River. I did get just a little nervous when the river was rising, but had no issues.
Very relaxing and quiet area. House was perfect. Very clean, abundance of towels and bedding. Updated furniture from pictures on line. Plenty of places to visit up and down the Mississippi. Owners are very nice. Would rent again in a heartbeat.
Always enjoy the quiet peacefulness here. Nice cottage, wish fan/light chains were longer for us 5’5” and below. Usually deck is fairly bug free but this year those gnats were horrid. It was a nice week overall. Hopefully next year we can visit again.
The place was very clean and even better than the photos. It had everything you would need.

Nice home on river
4 stars for the very nice home,It was just as the pictures. Only weather was cold and rainy for our stay.We fished three days without much luck.Short drive to most any type of store or other venue. I have trouble with stairs, so ramp was great help. Found back yard to hard to fish because of high bank and it could use bush cut down.

Comfy Place
My husband & I spent a pleasant week next to the Mississippi River watching & photographing birds, towboats, barges, fishing boats, riverboats...and rain. We had lots of rain! Nevertheless, the home had all we needed to enjoy much-needed downtime-- comfortable beds with plenty of linens & pillows & towels, a fully supplied kitchen with not only cookware & dishes but also bakeware, lawn chairs, TV, washer & dryer, and comfy couches. We lacked nothing except we did need to purchase drinking water, which we didn't mind at all.
One reviewer mentioned the sound of the towboats in the night. I'm a fairly light sleeper but I didn't notice the noise from the towboats at all. If anything, the truck traffic on the highway was considerably louder than any boats on the river, but we adjusted to traffic noise in a night or two.
We appreciated being able to self-check-in, having the place to ourselves and being left on our own for the week. That is definitely our kind of vacation; in fact, we never even met the Owners until we were ready to check out.
However, during one night of particularly severe storms, we would have welcomed their interest in our well-being. When the local tornado sirens began blaring we were not panicked at all, but being unfamiliar with the area we called the Owners for advice on a safe place to go and to let them know the power went out. They were not particularly responsive, suggesting if we wanted the outage reported we could call the power company.
We stayed put as none of the suggestions were viable options and thankfully, after a night of crazy loud thunder, lightning, high winds and torrential rains, all ended well and power was restored within about 12 hours. We were glad of that, especially because the Owners didn't check if we needed anything or even if the power had been restored. The next morning, I actually called them to ask if they were ok during the severe storms (there were a fair number of downed trees & power lines in the area) and to let them know the power was back on.
Otherwise, aside from the (seeming) disinterest when we asked for some advice in the storm, this was a great place to rest and relax for the week. The neighbors were all very friendly and offered great ideas on places to visit and things to do in the area. We would definitely recommend it and hope to return in the future.

Thank you for your comments on your stay at our cabin. I, the owner, was out of town during the time of your stay, so it was my husband with whom you communicated. As for the night of the storm, when you called, the tornado sirens were also going off at our home. You asked for options and he gave you some, but also recommended that you go to the central bathroom with no windows. It is generally NOT recommended for one to get in a car and drive when under a tornado warning. When the storm(s) had passed, he did not drive down to the cabins as it is also NOT recommended to be driving around when there is a possibility of downed power lines, especially at night. The next morning, around 8:00am, he did drive down to check the situation at the cabins. He observed that there were no downed trees or limbs, no downed power lines and no damage to either cabin. He also noted that the power was on at our other cabin three places to the north. We are sorry for any perceived lack of concern or communication on our part. He had seen that everything appeared to be undamaged and that the power was on. We generally do not make it a point to interrupt our renters' stay with a visit from us.

Amazing clean, restful beautiful home on the Ole Mississippi
What a find! We loved our week in the great two bedroom, two bath ADA accessible unit. Everything you needed in place: loads of sheets, towels, pots n pans, silverware, dishes etc. etc. Didn't need to bring a thing. Air-conditioned (though we only used it once) but so many windows for cross-ventilation.
The owners appeared briefly for "hellos: but we were left entirely on our own. It was quiet and very private even with other buildings nearby. Great ;fun watching all the barges and boats go up and down the river.
The nights were pitch-black which was great for star gazing for we city boys and, of course, the Perseid Meteor shower celebrated out last night in the "wilderness."
Great shopping everywhere, quaint and cute town and wee restaurants and antique stores here and there. Farms surrounded us so we had plenty of just harvested corn, watermelon, tomatoes, cantaloupe etc. Heavenly.
Definitely on our list of a place to return to.

Everything we needed!
The home was everything we had hoped for.....and more! The house sits right on the Mississippi River and we watched the ships pushing up to 15 barges at a time, as well as sightseeing boats and pleasure
craft!
The house was very clean and stocked with everything you would need to spend a week or more. The washer and dryer were a bonus!
The location is right in the midst of the many things to see and do in the area.... including the "Mississippi Palisades State Park"... a must see!
We are planning on making this a yearly vacation home!
