Hale Hapuna is in a small residential village on the hillside overlooking the ocean in Kawaihae near the harbor. It is located between Kailua-Kona (40 minutes) and Hilo (90 minutes) and 30 minutes from KOA airport in Kona.

Just up the hill (15 minutes) are the ranching town of Waimea and the eclectic town of Hawi, surrounded by acres of green hills and pastures. Plan your day trips to explore these charming towns and be home for sunset on the deck at Hale Hapuna.

You are never far from the many activities here on the Big Island whether it's snorkeling, diving, ziplining, shopping, surfing, golfing, dining, stargazing at the top of Mauna Kea or just reading a book on the beach. It's all here waiting for you.

Beautifully and generously appointed gem just minutes away from the resorts and beaches. Very clean, a well stocked and expansive kitchen, comfy living room with huge TV, and a killer lanai / outdoor sitting area that is elegantly designed. The AC and fans kept things cool on very hot afternoons. All in all, a great spot.

This was a good property with all the listed amenities. Well stocked kitchen and a beautiful lanai to hang out. Excellent location to access some good beaches and hikes in Kohala mountains. An electric fan or some cross ventilation in cases of power outages would be really useful to have in the property as a backupOverall a great stay!

We enjoyed our stay in the bungalow. Great location- close to the best beaches and the small town of Kawaihae for post-beach snacks. We loved the outdoor areas, especially the upper deck, to watch the sunrise and sunset. The house is compact but has everything you need. Overall, very fond of this place.

Clean, well-equipped and great location for exploring the northern portion of the island. Host was easy to reach and responsive. Located in a neighborhood and away from resort vibe - perfect for us. Indoor space compact but functional. Good amount of outdoor space and upper deck a nice touch. Kitchen well-equipped. Bathroom small for more than 3 adults. Third bedroom with bunk beds also small but fine for kids. Spent a month here and really enjoyed it.

Very private and relaxing. Everything you need for a vacation. The location requires some driving to get to groceries and sites but the quality and the privacy of the property is well worth a few miles. Would totally choose this over a resort any day!

This bungalow was a perfect base for my family of four (including two young kids). Spacious, clean, peaceful and quiet, and stocked with everything we needed.
