The Snowmass condo was cozy and somewhat sufficient for our Christmas week vacation. The public transportation throughout the Aspen-Snowmass area is exceptional. We were in Aspen area to celebrate Christmas with family. The kitchen had very basic kitchen supplies, so we (and very kind Kim in the Snowmass vacation office) had to augmen$ in order to prepare a holiday meal. There isn’t anything supply-wise (saran, aluminum foil, spices, etc) so all must be purchased. The dishware and cutlery seemed to be is a mish-mash of very basic quality. A major issue with the apartment is the fireplace — or, let’s say the wood that is supplied. The wood is “green”, thus causing way too much smoke (yes, the damper was open all the way) and charred wood that would never fully burn. That was a big disappointment as a lovely fireplace in a snowy setting is an absolute must. We are ace fireplace folks, but the wood was awful. We barely used it. We told office.
The log-on info and hot tub code were incorrect on the office info sheets - sorted out the next day.
The condo just needs some updates. The tv is used for privacy in the front window as it’s a first floor condo. If bottom-up blinds were installed on the living room and kitchen windows (right at steps to resort hot tub!) guests could have privacy AND a view. (Same in BRs)
The dining area slider doors have heavy (pretty tho) curtains for privacy. It’s quite difficult to slide the four panels across the bar to close the curtains. One night the entire bar came crashing down on my arm — barely missed my head. Upon inspection (and to rehang the bar/curtains), we easily saw the issue — there are only slide-on metal plates and anchor-less screws to keep a very heavy bar and curtains secured to the wall. I still have quite a nasty bruise on my arm, but, again, was very lucky it did not hit my head. This was reported to the office (Cindy) for fixing.
Basic humidifiers would be an awesome addition to the condo - electric baseboard heating and dry mountain air makes extremely dry apt. Felt pads are needed for DR chairs. They screech every time they’re moved. DR table is very wobbly.
A governor needs to be installed on the kitchen faucet as the hot water is extreme. The upside - there is sufficient hot water in the condo.
The smaller bathroom is tiny and needs updated.Mildew marks on the wooden base of the box shower are unsightly.
Like I originally said, it is a cozy condo. We were there to celebrate Christmas and we did!
