The house was very clean and the view from the screened in porch was amazing!!! We had two days where it rained and we didn't realize how much we would appreciate the screened porch until this trip. Thanks again for the stay!
The cottage was clean and lovely, just as advertised. The bottle of wine and fresh flowers were appreciated and a nice touch. My son had a great time playing with some neighborhood kids.
Property is just as described. Beautiful location, quiet neighborhood. Great location easy to get anywhere you want to go. Owners were very responsive. Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway.
The house is more beautiful than the pictures. We loved the access to the water. We went to the water pretty much every day. We spent the night time at screened porch.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jesse’s cabin by the water. Our mornings on the porch watching the boats float by and feeling the sea breezes were delightful. The area was quiet, friendly and a great place to walk our dog. The location was perfect for all the sightseeing that we hoped to do. Thanks Jesse!
Amazing cottage with great views, highly recommended
We enjoyed this cottage so much! It has great views in any kind of a weather and at any time of the day. It is fully stocked. You can find anything and everything there. It is fun just to open the cabinets and drawers to find everything your soul desires for. This cottage is a treat and in the middle between all key points in RI.
This is a well maintained charming summer cottage. It has a 180 view of the water with boats passing through. It was a calm beach with no current. There was also an outdoor shower . The sunrises were beautiful. The cottage was larger and nicer than the photos show! Well stocked. Very quiet safe neighborhood. Large yard for playing games. It’s a very good find. Loved it
Beautiful, Peaceful, quiet retreat. We were so happy to spend our vacation in Portsmouth,RI at this magical little cottage on the water. We spent most of our time on the big, beautiful, and comfortable porch.
While making breakfast and coffee each morning, our lab Dixie made her way to the porch just before us. Making sure she had her place on the lounge chair to watch the water and boats passing by. Our gracious hosts were very welcoming. A very nice bottle of wine, flowers and note to our family. We had everything we needed. Thank you so much for a much needed, restful vacation at your beautiful little cottage on the water.

Very fun and a little funky which we like. There was a problem with the Vrbo code sent. It was the wrong code bur I was able to get the correct one from the owner by chance.
My husband and I loved our one week stay at Hannah’s Cottage. The house was clean, comfortable and the view was spectacular! We were up early most mornings to see the sunrise and spent the whole week on the screened in deck. The air conditioners were perfect for cooling off the cottage on humid days. There are 35 steps to access the private rocky beach in front of the cottage and we brought our tandem kayak and kept it tied up on the beach when not in use. The quiet neighborhood location was great for our morning walks.
We visited Bristol and Newport and our favorite brewery was Ragged Island….a greenhouse and a farm onsite!
All in all a relaxing week!
Thank you Jesse!

Thank you Carolyn! We were very happy having you at Hanna’s Cottage. Come back anytime. The cottage is named for my wife’s deceased mother whom passed in 1970. She love her cottage…
Great location on the water and easy access to major roads north or west or to Newport. Quiet and clean, safe neighborhood. Some features such as the electrical outlets and plumbing are older and can cause some confusion- needed to turn some things off and monitor the fuse box to keep one of the air conditioners running. Once figured out, we didn’t have a problem. Loved the really large screened back porch area! Lots of yard and quiet street area also, if you have a dog to walk. One owner’s brother-in-law stopped by on our first full day to welcome us and bring flowers and a gift- what a wonderful touch to our visit! Thank you!!

Cute cottage
This place was in a beautiful neighborhood. The cottage was cute and clean but a little run down. The outside could certainly use some improvements and updates. Also, the floor wasn't level in the living room so we felt lop-sided. The "couch" in the living room was very old and the tv was very small. I love RI, but this place was a little too remote for my daughter and I. It's a great getaway for people who want peace and quiet and don't mind driving to certain destinations. The owner couldn't have been more nice and accommodating however! He was very responsive to my requests/questions and very nice to talk to.

Liked: Check-in, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Limited cooking facility
Cookware and kitchen appliances were rundown and were not clean Property manager bought new pans on the second day of our stay. Oven was not clean. When we turned on the oven fire alarm went on due to smoke. There was no vacuum cleaner to clean the floors. Counter space was very limited to prepare food. This place is not suitable for vacationers who like cooking and preparing their own breakfast
Location was very nice and convenient.

Hello Selman,
We are very sorry for your experience. Our house cleaners are the best in the area. We let them know of your concern immediately. They did mention that the smoke alarms are very sensitive. We will make sure that does not happen again. We do not provide a vacuum cleaner because the whole cottage has hardwood floors. But, since you wanted one & new cookware we purchased them for you and our future guests. We are aware of the limited counter space, that is why we provide a large roller cutting board to expand the counter area.
Thanks again for staying with us…
Lisa & Jesse
Perfect spot right on the water with great views and access to the water! Walking/biking trail nearby and cottage is close to all the fun activities of the area. Cottage is fully equipped with everything you need! We truly enjoyed our stay! Bridge noise was minimal when outside and no issue at all. We would love to stay again!
Will work well for a small family like ours.
• The vintage style suited us very well—this is a true 1938 fisherman’s style home. Tidy, quirky, comfortable. A little rustic & unpredictable as a result (bathroom is tiny, floor slopes, some walls are, electrical outlets are sparse.) It’s clearly described in the listing & we weren’t surprised or troubled by these things.
• It was clean, not musty. Porch was a little cluttered
• Towels/ linens plentiful, beds super comfortable
• A/C worked well to cool the whole house during a scorching stay
• Kitchen is well stocked
• Screen porch & location are a delight. View is incredible. We’re native to the area & know it well. You can’t go wrong with this quiet street, level back yard, & nearly unobstructed view of the river, the bridge, boat traffic. It was the perfect spot for us to relax & recharge
• Landlords were very responsive to msgs (immediately in fact) & always kind in answers to our queries & alerts to issues
Unfortunately, we experienced a lot of systems problems & this colored our visit almost daily.
• Washer out of order upon arrival. We had to spend an afternoon of vacation in our nearby family basement doing laundry
• Advertised access to the shore wasn’t available. The staircase leading to it was caved in & dangerous. As this access was one of the primary reasons we chose this rental, it was the biggest disappointment of all. The owners indicated it was a recent problem but there seemed to be stages of failed repair. Fortunately, we’re walkers, so were able to walk to the other side of the point to public access areas of the beach
• Outdoor shower is just a pump for the garden hose. The stall is run down & when we arrived it didn’t work. The handyman arrived promptly to assess & within two days had the pump running but the heat never worked. To use it you had to step around hoses and lines within the stall itself. Fine for rinsing sandy feet off but not good for much else. If it were my cottage, I’d probably just tear it out and put a little platform near the garden hose for foot rinsing.
• A few other smaller issues required the owners, but you get the idea. Handyman was as friendly & unobtrusive as possible but needed to make multiple visits over the week we were there.
Overall, we loved the cottage, & might give it another chance. Owners were responsive and offered us a small rebate for the missing amenities. If the major issues above were corrected, we wouldn’t hesitate to return.
A quiet, private, tranquil cottage overlooking the Sakonnet River. Watching the sailboats, reading on the screened in porch while breeze blows through, collecting shells by the water. Lovely.
Perfect from the first moment to the last. Enjoyed everything about this property. Especially the private beach and sunporch. The best vacation place we have ever stayed at!
Very smooth rental process. Cottage very clean and comfortable. We spent the majority of the time on the screened porch enjoying the view of the river and watching the boats. Quiet neighborhood. Traffic on the bridge can be heard but really didn't bother us.
We enjoyed our stay at this cozy cottage. We spent most days hanging out on a wonderful screened-in back deck watching boats and little critters. It was stocked with all our needs. The hosts were also wonderful, kind and thoughtful.

About the host
Hosted by Jesse Luis
This wonderful cottage has been in my family for over 50 years. I would spend every summer here as a youth. We would haul all of our summer clothes and some appliances (including the TV) to the cottage. It inspired me as a young person and still does today.
Why they chose this property
It is a beautiful combination of old world cottage bungalow still with modern conveniences. With a great location in a wonderful neighborhood.
What makes this property unique
The cottage has its own beach and is close the Brewer Sakonnet Marina and Montaup Country Club.
