Very disappointed with the condition of home, some areas looked like cleaning hadn’t been done in a good while. The bathroom upstairs was super hot and light never went off. Need to fix/replace the main door that you enter.

We were honestly shocked to see this review weeks after the stay. We reached out via DM shortly after check-in to ensure everything was perfect, but we never received a single response or a single mention of any issues during the entire visit. Our contact info is posted everywhere because we pride ourselves on being available to fix any concern immediately.
To address the specifics:
Our cleaners were on-site for 4 hours before this arrival, and our cameras confirm the time they were there. The tenants prior gave us 5 stars. I was on the property not three weeks before and inspected every inch of the house. I saw nothing that hadn’t been cleaned in a while.
The bathroom features a heated floor with a wall-mounted thermostat and the normal adjustable vent—both of which are guest-controlled.
As for the door and lighting, no guest before or since has reported an issue, and we could have sent maintenance over in minutes if we had simply been told.
We aren't perfect, but we are highly rated (4.8 stars) because we care. It’s impossible to rectify a problem we aren't told exists. We prefer to host guests who communicate so we can ensure they have a 5-star experience.
Lastly - Some people are just unhappy generally, they exist amongst us.
My friends and I have been staying at the Nolan house every year for our annual golf trip since 2017. Great location for access to top golf courses in Delaware and Ocean City, MD. House is very comfortable with two areas on the first floor to watch TV. Fully equipped kitchen and outdoor grill allows us to cook breakfast and dinners during our four night stay, saving us a great deal of money. Having cocktails by the lagoon is a great way to end each day. Check in and check out could not be any easier. Thank you, Patrick.
Great cozy spot for the whole family. Hosts were very communicative, friendly and helpful. House was clean and accommodated a large group well. Lots of puzzles and games.
House was as advertised. Clean and lots of space for everyone. Quiet and peaceful neighborhood. We really didn't cook, but kitchen seemed to be stocked with everything you would need. Great porch and outside area to sit and relax.
Lovely home, well cared for, and just what you need for a week away. Nice having little extras in the house for entertaining and enjoying the beach as well.

We had a wonderful time at your home! It was a perfect location and we had beautiful weather all week! Everything went pretty smoothly and with the couple issues/questions that did arise, the owner was very quick to respond! Definitely recommend! Thanks again for sharing your beach home with us! :)

My family and I stayed at this home for the week. The location is perfect! It’s quiet and beautiful! We easily walked to the beach every day. The home is very well taken care and feels like a loving-home. The updated bathroom upstairs is beautiful and luxurious. The home owner is great and very responsive. We were sad to leave! Highly recommend this home!

Perfect Headquarters for Five Day Four Night Golf Trip
Seven of my friends and I have been staying at the Nolan residence each November for the past several years for our annual golf trip. Accommodations are perfect for our group. Location puts us within 30 minutes of an array of outstanding golf courses in Delaware and Ocean City, MD. Full kitchen and outside grill make for huge cost savings on food. Always look forward to sipping cabernet and enjoying a Cuban cigar dockside each night. We can always count on a visit from the resident Blue Heron who patrols the lagoon.
Due to a family emergency we were delayed 3 days in arriving. Our host graciously offered us to stay 3 days beyond our end date. We didn't do that because we had other commitments, but we thought the offer was above and beyond.

Such a great time!
My family and I rented this house for a week's vacation. There were 8 of us there and we still felt like we had lots of room to spread out and never felt cramped. There are so many different rooms and areas of the home to enjoy including a wonderful screened-in porch in the back, and we loved that it was right on the inlet! We drove to the beach as we would have had to cross the busy street and had a lot of things to bring, but it is walking distance and very easy to get to. We will definitely keep this in mind for future years !

Thanks for staying with us! The separate rooms are really awesome to spread out and then have family time together in other spaces!
Our first time staying in South Bethany (always Bethany Beach). The house was perfect for our crew. We could spread out and not be under each others feet. It was very much like home for the week. We didn’t even use all the sleep space upstairs and there is a lot of room. The house was very clean and tidy. The outdoor space is fantastic. Absolutely loved being on the canal and being able to sit out there and relax. The neighborhood is peaceful and serene.
This is one of the best rentals we have stayed in through VRBO. The house was immaculate when we arrived. The owner answered all of our questions immediately and was always very responsive. The house is in a great location where you can walk to the beach (or short drive with the parking pass) and a few restaurants/deli. The house is spacious, and we love the layout and the fact that there are two separate living spaces so some of us could work remotely in a quiet room while others watched TV or played games. The screened-in porch is an added bonus and a perfect place to hang out and watch some of the boats go by along the canal. I can't wait to go back!
My friends and I have been staying at the Nolan family's "Hibernian Hideaway" for the past several years for our annual golf trip. The quality of courses within approximately 30-40 minutes, easily rival courses at the "Golf Mecca" known as Myrtle Beach, SC, while considerably easier and cheaper to get to from our central NJ homes. The full kitchen and outside grill equate to huge savings in food costs. Ending each night by the lagoon, with a cabernet and a cigar is the perfect way to end one great day after another. Not one to wish my life away, I am truly looking forward to staying at the Nolan home in November 2025, when we head south for our 15th golf trip. Thank You Patrick for making everything go very smoothly.
Lovely house in a great location - better than the photos!
This house was perfect for an extended working vacation for my husband, adult kids, and me. It is much larger than the photos. There are two separate living areas so my husband and I could work remotely in a quiet location while our older kids could hang out in the open kitchen/family room. Plenty of room upstairs for everyone to sleep. We loved hanging out every evening on the screened-in porch overlooking the canal. I've stayed in a number of VRBOs and the owner was more responsive and accommodating than any other I have rented from. Great location and easy walk/bike-ride to beach!

So glad to read you and your guests enjoyed the house. Thank you for the kind compliments. Communication is key, we try our absolute best!
Great location in South Bethany, a half mile to the beach. Bikes at the property and the two parking tags were awesome, making it easy to take beach stuff over or head back home midday and relax. Canoe at the house was great to use on the canals!
Plenty of separate spaces on the first floor to have your own space after too much family time. Upstairs bathroom was very nicely updated and outdoor shower was great after the beach. No issues with hot water or water pressure even with two concurrent showers.
Kitchen is dated, but serviceable. Tons of pots and pans and utensils, but we would have preferred 3 nice pans instead of 25 old/scratched pans. The "hallway" bedroom was a little tough to manage with little kids and adults with different bed (and wake up) times, although the kids loved the bunk beds.
Overall amazing location and excellent "extras" beyond the house.
Thanks to Patrick for all the communication, directions etc. If we had had a problem, I have no doubt that he would have handled it quickly.

Also, after further review by our crews, there was also a set of entirely new frying pans in the bar cabinet up higher on the shelf perhaps obscured by some other items. We found a few older frying pans that needed to be disposed of but there were in fact new pans in the cabinet. It must have been a situation where the new pans went into the cabinet but they neglected to dispose of the older frying pans.

Best of both worlds!
Whether you are a Beach person or a Bay person this is the perfect spot for you! Choosing to stay at the Nolan's this year really allowed us to appreciate another side of Bethany Beach that we don't normally see. We loved it's close proximity to the beach allowing us to walk down for a sunrise stroll and using the parking passes was so convenient to bring down our chairs and boogie boards later in the day, but being right on the canal took our typical beach week to the next level. My favorite part was enjoying beautiful sunset dinners in the backyard. As we prepared dinner, we took turns canoeing down to the bay, the kids would drop in their fishing lines, or we would just relax on the Adirondack Chairs and take in the wildlife or wave to neighbors boating, kayaking and paddle boarding by. The home was beautifully renovated and provided a variety of spaces for groups to gather. The kids quickly claimed the middle room as "their space" and the new high top table was the perfect spot to play board games while the sliders really contained the noise. The screened in porch was also a favorite spot to play cards or sit with a cup of coffee and listen to the waves crashing on the beach (yes, it's that close!) The house was stocked with plenty of amenities to make your trip complete including books, puzzles, board games, bikes, a grill, life vests, and crab traps. It's conveniently located within walking distance to shops, pizza, and a new Donut Truck,YUM!

Allison, thank you for your warm review. We try really hard to make the property as fun and enjoyable as the outdoors! We hope to have you back again any time!
The house had everything you would need. Right on the canal and the canoe , beach chairs and bikes were wonderful! Quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors. A lot to do in the area, although in the offseason things close earlier than during the summer. We had a great time!
This is the 12th year my friends and I have been coming to the Delaware/Ocean City area for a five-day golf trip. Back in 2011, we contemplated a trip Myrtle Beach, SC. Instead, my friend made arrangements for us to play several courses in this area. We quickly learned that there was no need to spend all that extra money when there are so many great courses in Delaware/Ocean City area. We discovered the Nolan property in 2019. It is prefect in so many ways for our group of eight. To save money, we bring food and cook breakfast and dinner each day. Nothing better than filet mignon prepared on the outside grill. Nights are capped off with a cocktail and a cigar by the lagoon. Already looking forward to next year's trip. Will most definitely staying at the Nolan property.
PS Golfers, save money by doing your own bookings at the courses. Allows you to also pick your own courses, rather than have a service add in a few so-so courses. Rum Pointe, Glen Riddle (Man O' War) and Eagles Landing in MD; Baywood Greens and Plantation Lakes (DE), all are Five Star courses.
We enjoyed our family vacation at this property. There was plenty of space for our 3 generational family: 3-4 living spaces and eating areas, 2 bathrooms plus outdoor shower made it comfortable. Reasonable walk to the beach and shopping strip. Bethany Beach is our favorite vacation location because it is so family friendly.
Born in Cashel, Co Tipperary Ireland, immigrated to Washington DC to live with my Aunt in Chevy Chase in 1957, had a successful career in printing production and printing sales. A father of 6 children, My wife Diane and I purchased this home in 1990 as a vacation home and named it "The Nolan's Hibernian Hideout". We have spent many a wonderful summer and winter in this home. Boating, Fishing, Dining out at all the wonderful restaurants in the area. We enjoy relaxing with our children and now our many grand children and golden retriever.
Why they chose this property
This is a wonderful property for one or two families to enjoy together or simply a couple who wants to relax. Its very quiet, many of our neighbors are year round or weekenders themselves. They are wonderful people and will wave hello to you and are quite friendly. Remember to wave hello!
What makes this property unique
The Deck/Porch is very relaxing as you can peacefully read a book or surf the internet no matter the outside weather. We have 4 TV's, plenty of board games and puzzles to keep the kids occupied. And most importantly, WIFI. Since it is a two level house, you can keep an eye on your children without actually keeping an eye on them! The middle family room has a sliding door on both sides. Our neighbor stays with her son and his children frequently and they commented how wonderful it was to see the kids in the sitting room, knowing they were OK watching their show while not actually hearing them watch their show and play. The beach is close enough to walk, and parking is easy if you prefer to drive it. The canal offers ducks from time to time, as well as canoeing, fishing or crabbing with a cold one in hand.
