About this property

Charming Chalet | Private Indoor Pool & Sauna | Alpine Location | sleeps up to 9

La Taupinere is a very comfortable and well-equipped, private, individual chalet. It has a large balcony facing south to wonderful views of the mountains and alpine meadows. The detached chalet is surrounded by its own garden. La Taupiniere also has a large sauna and private, indoor, 30ft heated swimming pool. The pool room has floor to ceiling glass doors/windows for lovely views onto the garden and mountains. La Taupiniere also has the benefit of excellent wifi internet connection.

The chalet is in a superb and beautiful location for all mountain activities including skiing, mountain biking, walking, golf, para-gliding, tennis or just for relaxing. It is well located for easy access to Lake Leman (Geneva) with its attractive lakeside towns of Vevey, Montreux, Lausanne etc. or the beautiful villages of the White Mountains: Chateau d'Oex, Gstaad, Rougement, or the glacier at Les Diablerets.

The village is surrounded by farms, with cows grazing in summer, producing the milk for the famous Gruyeres Cheese and the truly delicious Cailler chocolate, made and sold in nearby Broc, where you can also visit the factory. It is also possible to visit the Gruyeres Cheese factory and/or surrounding farms to see how the cheese is made.

Gruyeres is a delightful area to spend time, whether active or relaxing. The area is renowned for its beauty and there is plenty to see and do, both summer and winter. Moleson village has a small food store, restaurant, and cafe. The village is popular for skiing, has a friendly tourist office and a ski school.

The rental price includes the use of the chalet for up to 9 adults, and all the bed linen, bath towels and electricity. Swiss tourist tax is extra at CHF2.75 per person, per night.

Fantastic family alpine getaway
Our mixed group LOVED this place! The 7&8 year olds were thrilled with the pool and the summer activities in our doorstep (esp the bob luge!) We all adored the views, the walks, the accessibility of stunning scenery, the food, the convenient location. A really memorable happy holiday I’ll never forget. We will certainly return

Clark Family Summer Holiday 2018
Four of us adults stayed for just under two weeks. Chose the property because of the number of bedrooms and for the pool. We loved it. Perfect size overall for us. The pool was used almost every morning and night. Very good for a house pool for swimming lengths and good that consistent depth for adults. Wonderful atmosphere around the house both inside and out. Really enjoyed the consistent cowbells throughout the day. Travelled extensively with house being a good central location especially if trying to get up to the mountains. Skied at Zermatt just of a day and completed an overnight hike finishing up at Grindelwald Lake where we had a cold awesome swim. Only reason not a five star is because of the size of the kitchen. Just lacks sufficient counter and storage space but okay to get by if very organised and only one person in the kitchen preparing. Would love to return one day.

Fabulous Ski Holiday in tradition Swiss Ski chalet
Just back from a lovely skiing holiday in a beautiful chalet “La Taupiniere.” Recommendation from friends and couldn’t fault it. Warm homely chalet perfectly described with accompanying pictures. Gorgeous location only minutes from the funicular taking you to the beautiful Swiss mountains for some breathtaking scenery and amazing skiing for all levels. Mountain top restaurants with far reaching views over Switzerland. The chalets location allows easy access to Gstaad, Gruyere and other local towns & villages to sample delicious fondue and other local dishes without driving for miles. The Swiss were delightful and the area scenically beautiful and clean. On our return to the chalet a quick dip in the private swimming pool before a well earnt G&T! Looking so much to returning.

Great House for Families
We loved the house the moment we arrived - it is small but very spacious and well stocked. The kids loved the pool. Everybody found their spot in the house and was able to enjoy it to the fullest. The proximity to the slopes is a big plus with the children - when they are tired you are home in 5 Minutes. We loved the house and Moleson and would recommend it for Families.

A lovely cosy chalet in beautiful alpine village
We have just spent a wonderful week at La Taupiniere in Moleson. The chalet is very comfortable, well maintained and equipped for a party of up to 10 people. It was clean and warm and we felt instantly at home. There was a comprehensive folder with all the information we needed. After a days skiing it was heaven to return and relax in front of the open fire with a glass of wine. The younger members of our group still had energy to enjoy the pool and we all used the sauna. The owners were very helpful before our trip and even helped us arrange ski hire in the village for collection on our arrival. We were spoilt for choice regarding places to ski within a 30 min drive but for the first 2 days Moleson was great and the lifts were only a 5 min walk from the chalet. We would love to return to La Taupiniere again in the future and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Escape to the Swiss mountains!
My wife and I booked the Christmas week at La Taupiniere and had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. We were very lucky withy the weather and each hiked to restaurant half way up the Moleson to enjoy the sunshine and a glass of wine. In addition, we swam three times a day in the heated indoor swimming pool and enjoyed the sauna every evening before dinner. In summary we had a very relaxing stay at La Taupiniere and highly recommend taking a holiday in this charming and very homely Swiss chalet.

La Taupiniere
This is the second time I have stayed, the last time for a skiing holiday which was fabulous. This visit give us the opportunity to walk amongst breathtaking scenery. Enjoyed visiting the cheese and chocolate factories too! Once again, a wonderful chalet with great facilities such as the pool and sauna. Like the improvements since my last stay too.

Not What it Seems
This house has its good points. The location is excellent. The pool and sauna facility is good. The family bathroom is good and the lounge seating area is comfortable. HOWEVER – The house is too small for 10/11 people. The kitchen is a ‘one person’ kitchen. We were a family of 7 (5adults and 2 children) and struggled to self cater. The dining area is filled with a large 2 leaf extendable table with benches and folding chairs. We just managed by moving the table diagonally and having one leaf folded down. The small double bedroom is the inside access to the pool area. It is too hot and too noisy at night and should be disregarded as a bedroom The twin bedroom is very small & only suitable for small children. The separate studio is also small but OK for children. Access to downstairs is via a steep stone spiral staircase with no handrail. The downstairs rooms smelt and felt damp. There are no locks on any of the inside doors, including toilets and bathroom. There is no toilet near the pool apart from going through the bedroom. The other access to the pool area is via the front door, down a muddy slope and through the garden. The kitchen equipment and oven were not very clean. We spent an hour getting it to a reasonable standard. On arrival we found the garden very unkempt, even windows were covered with growth. We spent several hours chopping back overgrown foliage to make the place more pleasant. The outside eating area was a non-starter, it is an area of old concrete slabs and the access to it is via the muddy slope down to the garden or through 2 of the bedrooms. The table and benches were old with peeling varnish. The BBQ was dirty & still full of ash, we even found the missing oven shelf in the ash! Lastly, there is NO WI FI here despite being led to believe to the contrary right up until the day before we arrived.

A week at Moleson
Having paid hefty price tags for Alpine holidays in the past, my stay at La Taupiniere has proved to be a revelation. A superb , clean and welcoming Chalet that retains the traditional charms of the Alps yet with modern and up to date facilities. To be able to come home after a hard days skiing to a sauna and a swim is just the perfect way to round off the day. Ski hire and skiing was available on one's doorstep, and catered for all levels of proficiency, yet easily accessible by car were some of Switzerland's premier ski resorts. The town of Bulle is only fifteen minutes by car and provides the full range of facilities, bars, restaurants, banking, and sight seeing. Even closer is the beautiful medieval town of Gruyeres with its stunning architecture and fondue restaurants. I will happily be recommending La Taupiniere to friends and clients alike, and look forward to my next visit.

Family fun in Moleson
The quintessential Swiss chalet with a bonus of an indoor pool to unwind after a day of hiking in the Gruyère countryside. Our grandkids spent every evening on the summer Bob-Luge . We visited Gruyère village and castle and the nearby Cailler chocolate factory. We will be back. Priceless week with the cable car up to the top of Moleson. Visit to the Gruyeres cheese factory. Evenings spent just reviewing the day ,listening to the cows and their bells and tuning out the world.

Cozy chalet in a breathtaking setting
The small ski village of Moléson-sur-Gruyères is picturesque and a great jumping off point for hiking trails, gondola, the medieval walled town of Gruyeres and much more! We loved waking up to breakfast and coffee with a view of the cows, going for a swim or sauna after a long hike and relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening to the sound of cowbells. The chalet is compact, but we had plenty of room for the 7 of us. Loved it!

Host profile image
I now manage the chalet on behalf of my mother, who purchased Chalet La Taupiniere in 1988. We had previously owned another chalet in the village since 1978. So I have grown up holidaying in Moleson and we really love both the chalet and the area.

Why they chose this property

My parents jumped at the chance to buy La Taupiniere as it had the fabulous indoor swimming pool and more space. Unlike most chalets in Moleson the parking is right outside, on flat ground, and there are no steps to the chalet. It is also situated in a very quiet no-through road with just 8 other chalets and there are open fields to the front, so it's very peaceful. As it's been our holiday home for so long, it really is a 'home' - well equipped, nicely furnished and the little touches and details that lift the chalet from being a mere 'soulless rental' to a homely base for your holiday.

What makes this property unique

I love being in a lovely little village in the mountains, yet it is so easy to get into the main town of Bulle and to other places in Switzerland. Compared to many ski chalets that are a long way up a mountain, where it's nigh-on impossible to leave once there, Moleson is really well located. So whether you want more skiing, restaurants, supermarkets, the tourist attractions of Gruyeres and the area, or the larger cities of Fribourg, Bern and Geneva - it's all really easy to access. A really great year-round holiday home.
