Panoramic views over the Bay of Lagos at the front; Monchique hills at the side and the village of Portelas at the back. Easy access to the splendid old town of Lagos with its multitude of restaurants and bars - just 1 mile to the very centre, less to the Marina, plus a private full sized pool (10m x 5m) with spacious terraces, set in a lovely secure walled garden with large grassed area for ball games. This villa works very well for three generations of a family and also perfect for two families, due to the annex with two extra beds at extra cost. New bathrooms recently installed and kItchen renovated. All bedrooms have ceiling fans, just as effective as air conditioning in the hottest months and much more environmentally friendly. Our villa has been inspected and awarded it's tourist licence 4401/AL.
WiFi. The new motor racing track is just 1 stop down the motorway, but thankfully out of earshot!
All channels of BBC,ITV,4,5 and many more besides, via broadband. There is also a catch-up facility. Free WiFi.

At the back of the house is a car park and a citrus fruit orchard, lots of lemons for your G & T's!For let’s over winter for large parties there will be an additional cost for electricity for heating at £120 per week and only £80 for smaller parties

Wonderful villa in peaceful location
Wonderful villa in a very peaceful location but still close to Lagos town and marina! Great size pool and lots of outdoor space for you little one to play. The toys and floats were an added bonus! Super clean too and great communication with the owner and manager in Lagos. Would highly recommend to families and would not hesitate to rebook in the future. Thank you for having us!

Wonderful!
We felt very privileged to have stayed at this glorious villa. The 3 directional views from the upstairs dining area are stunning and we enjoyed breakfast and evening meals up there. The pool area is large and has a lovely shaded seating area covered by a bougainvillea which we were delighted to find. There was an area for playing ball games with beautiful hibiscus and other lovely flowers. We were excited to find a huge selection of English books and somes games. including chess. The weather was perfect. Windy and sunny so we were pleased we had brought a jumper for the evening as the wind made the evenings cool. Perfect. Thank you! Oh yes! We saw Dolphins (book for a morning trip if you want calm seas) and took a speed boat to see the Benagil caves from Portimao which was beautiful. The walk along the cliffs near Carvoeiro was stunning and the jump from the rocks into the sea very scary!

Lovely first holiday as Grandparents
Excellent villa, peaceful but close enough to town. Lovely pool & garden area. A great kitchen & bbq area. Floats & toy box for the grandkids. A small hot water issue but fixed promptly. My only recommendation would be a stair gate. Highly recommended.

A peaceful villa.
A peaceful and very comfortable villa in an ideal location. Some wonderful views and a lovely garden with almond trees and lemon and orange trees in the orchard. A well maintained and heated pool added to the enjoyment. The property manager is very helpful if needed. With no hesitation we have booked a return visit.

Nice villa albeit tired but with wonderful pool and setting.
Really enjoyed our week at the villa in Falfeira. The heated (at extra cost) pool is fabulous and the grounds are immaculate. The views are superb and the neighbourhood very quiet. Exceptionally convenient for access to Lagos. However the villa itself is rather tired (although presents well externally), with an 'old house' aroma not helped by the smell of drains in one of the bathrooms (we did report this to the managing agent but as we did not want tradesmen visiting we chose to put up with it). The kitchens need updating and they stand in contrast to the modernised bathrooms. Beds (only singles) were very comfortable. The windows and doors are ancient and difficult to operate and secure. We ran out of gas but this was rapidly attended to by the managing agent - top marks! There are no flywires. In summary, if you are looking for luxury then look elsewhere. However the villa does provide reasonable, albeit basic accommodation, very much ameliorated by the excellent location and the grounds and the pool. Indeed the property is really all about the superb swimming pool where we spent most of our time, as the weather during our stay in early October was fabulous.

We loved everything about the villa. It was the perfect setting for our Canadian/English family holiday after being apart for so long. The garden is lovely and the lawn and pool provided many hours of fun and games for our multi-age group ranging in age from 5 to 80!

Home From Home pool, garden & BBQ highlights
We had a very relaxing time at the villa with our two teenage sons. Especially loved the pool and all it’s various areas where you can practically track the sun through the day, beautiful well maintained garden and BBQ/sheltered patio area. The owners have taken great care in leaving listings of recommended restaurants and activities of which Lagos has many. (We’d add the crazy golf at the back of the town walls for a bit of family fun-even teenagers). Some minor things we feel could be adjusted- Maybe too many notices about the place about security and recent thefts in the area - slightly spooked our sons who saw the notes. We were fortunate to have great sunny days - it was hot especially to sleep at night and full air con would have been nice, as well as mosquito nets to keep some very persistent ones out. Nearby Lagos is a very lovely town and area - we have retuned many times over the years. You need a car to get to Lagos and access the ‘wilder western beaches’. Everything we needed was available in the villa. We would love to come back, and thoroughly enjoyed our break.

A most enjoyable stay
The villa was spotlessly clean and had very well managed grounds. The pool was well maintained and cleaned twice during our fortnights stay. The villa is excellently located in a rural setting with splendid views of the ocean and countryside yet close to supermarkets and all the amenities of Lagos. Doreen provided very thorough and extensive information about restaurants, points of interest, places to visit and local information which was extremely useful to us. The villa was well equipped and we enjoyed picking oranges for our freshly squeezed juice in the morning a d lemons for our evening g+t . We would definitely like to return although as a party of 6 rather than 8 as we would not use the annex as an additional bedroom again. The fold up beds were low and uncomfortable and made the sitting room cramped for space.. Apart from that it was excellent.

Lovely villa with great views and utter silence, very relaxing. The heated pool was a bonus.
We were delighted to arrive after a long journey and were not disappointed. The villa was very clean and welcoming, the maid had put the heaters on so it was nice and warm inside as well as out. We explored the house and found everything needed for a great holiday. The pool looked fantastic and we quickly got ready for a swim which was lovely. We found a very good taxi firm which came to collect us every evening, so no need to worry about drinking and there was an ample supply of taxis to bring us back the fare being a very reasonable 5/6 euros. We followed the recommendations re restaurants in the owners local notes and found these very reliable without exception. We spent most of our time lounging around the pool at the villa but did venture out to beaches now and again and explored further afield towards the west coast. We were particularly fond of Ingrina and Salema on the way and the beaches up the west coast are all very stunning and almost undiscovered. The beach bars are all very good, but it's a shame they have all been made to conform to certain rules which has robbed them of their individual style. Nearer to home, we particularly like the restaurants at Porto de Mos, as you are right on the beach and can enjoy spectacular sunsets. It is worthwhile going inland through Portelas and up to Bensafrim then twirl around and go back through Barao St Juao and St Miguel, an unspoilt area of the Algarve unchanged by time. In short a great holiday with lots of variety .

Home away from home
This villa is in an ideal location with good amenities the owners are clearly very passionate about ensuring their guests comfort. The villa is clean and tidy and sports two luxury bathrooms which are new additions this year. The maid Antonia is very thorough and it's really lovely to fully relax knowing the day to day tasks are taken care of. Great place and wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend to others.

Beautifully situated villa
The situation of the villa is stunning with wonderful panoramic views. Even in December we were able to sit out on the upstairs terrace with the bougainvillea still in bloom & admire the extensive vista. The pool area & gardens are spacious & well maintained & would be idyllic in the warmer months of the year, for those who like the heat, though it was warm enough to sit out a few times even in the dead of winter. We were there for a month. It's so peaceful. We are keen birdwatchers & with hoopoes, azure-winged magpies & owls visiting the garden frequently, it suited us perfectly. The management company was very helpful & if there was any kind of problem, it was dealt with immediately, but nearly all the information we needed was in Mrs Purefoy's very comprehensive notes. Two new bathrooms had just been installed & we had the pleasure of being the first guests to use them. For this time of year the underfloor heating & the heated towel rails were very welcome. We had time to explore the whole area, mostly the wild & rugged landscape & beaches west of Lagos & up in the Serra Monchique. We found the villa an excellent base for our excursions. For anyone interested in bird watching, we found the estuary & lagoons immediately south of Mexilhoeira Grande very rewarding, but there are lots of good areas in the vicinity, for example in Sagres & beyond at the Cabo de Sao Vicente. The only downside is that in the winter, since the villa is designed to keep out the searing summer heat, it was pretty chilly in the mornings & the evenings. There is a log fire, but it did take a while for the place to heat up in the evenings. We were always out most of the day, so weren't lighting the fire till later. However we got quite used to it. It's amazing how quickly you adapt. All in all we had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday & would go back without any hesitation.

Stunning views great outdoor space but villa tired
I loved the views and peaceful location and the pool is great however it is in need of a deep clean and updating. The curtains in my bedroom we so old they were stained darker at the position of opening from years of never being washed. The top of the head boards were caked in thick dust that had been there years. The bath mat looked like it had not been changed since the 80's and my sons bedding had holes in it. Some of the lamps didn't work in the lounge and the wires were all frayed. I'm by no means a clean freak I would have just expected a higher standard for the price. Wifi did not work and the management company told us to buy a dongle even though villa is advertised as having wifi, then we discovered by chance that the password in the visitors info is incorrect! If you want a quiet out of the way villa with fantastic outdoor space it's for you but don't expect luxury on the inside.

Beautifully located villa
The villa was in a wonderful location, close to Lagos with amazing views. The high points were definitely the gardens and the pool. The villa was extremely quiet at night and only birdsong during the day. Plenty of space for our two teenage boys. Lagos is very picturesque and the Portuguese are extremely friendly and helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Home from home....but with the sun!
I stayed here for a long weekend. I have been to lagos many times. The old town is beautiful, steeped in history with cobble streets. The seafood here is second to none. There is a fish market if you can get up early enough! Back at the villa we bbq'd our fish, it was delicious. The rooms are clean and tidy. But best of all is the maid service...you don't even have to make your beds or unpack the dishwasher! The views from the upstairs lounge and balcony are spectacular. And you can pick your own oranges and lemons from the orchard. Would thoroughly recommend 👍

Great villa
We enjoyed everything about the villa, it was within walking distance of both Lagos and Portelas village (about 1.5km from both). We drove down from Lisbon airport using the fantastic motorways which are extremely quiet as the locals won't pay the tolls to use them. We got on the motorway just outside of Lisbon and left it on the outskirts of Lagos. The villa was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our holiday. The maid who came in was absolutely brilliant and nothing was to much trouble for her(she even helped when we were doing the washing up). There are a couple of small bars in Portelas and the Mendes is a bar/restaurant which was excellent. There is also a good tapas restaurant O Marafado which is very close to the villa. We were unsure as to wether we would need the annexe as there were two couples in our party, Doreen the owner allowed us to pay for the annexe but said that if we didn't use it she would refund our money, we decided not to use the annexe and informed Doreen who sent us a refund (it was waiting for me when I got home). All in all would definitely recommend this villa to either couples or for a family holiday.

Wonderful! We can't wait to return!
Having been to Lagos previously we knew the area reasonably well and knew what we were looking for in terms of a Villa so when we found Casa Miradoura we researched it extensively, and having spoken to the very helpful and charming Mrs Purefoy and I am delighted to say despite having very high expectations, we were not disappointed ! This villa delivers all it promises and more! The pool and outside area along with the beautiful gardens are spacious and very well kept, we are a large family party consisting of 8 adults and we all had sufficient space and privacy. The views from the balcony upstairs are simply beautiful, the villa is set within very peaceful, quiet and secluded countryside yet only a short walk (10/15) minutes from Lagos town, or a short taxi journey (6 euro). Antonia the maid is a lovely lady who works diligently and discretely and was a very, very welcome addition. In our 20 odd years or renting apartments and villas in Europe, this is our favourite! We have already booked to return next year! Enjoy!

I have lived with my husband in Weybridge for over 30 years. Our daughter and husband live nearby with their young son and baby daughter. I was a Brown Owl for 19 years (!) and also a Governor of a special school. I now run a beginners bridge group for U3A, and very occasionally walk dogs for the Cinnamon Trust. We have recently acquired a middle aged Norfolk terrier called Peggy, who is a little gem

Why they chose this property

We first visited the Algarve in 1979 and instantly fell in love with the area and the people. We first stayed in Carvoeira and considered buying there but sadly realised that this charming little fishing village was about to be swamped by development. We then explored further west and after several visits to the area decided that Lagos was sufficiently large and predominantly Portuguese to avoid being swallowed up by developments.
Then began the search for a villa nearby rather than in the town itself which can be noisy with barking dogs and late night bars etc.! We were extremely lucky in that the first villa sent to us was in just the right location, just 1 mile from the very centre of town with fantastic
panoramic views of the ocean and mountains and yet in the peaceful countryside.

What makes this property unique

I doubt there are many villas in or around Lagos that combine convenience of access to the many shops, bars and restaurants the town has to offer, with such blissful peace and quiet. We sit gazing at the views for hours both day and night and never tire of returning to Miradouro. The children love the pool, which can be heated in early and late season at extra charge when the water temperature is a mite too chilly except for the most hardy. The villa is very baby friendly as we provide cot, high chair, monitor, bottle warmer, steriliser, even a few toys and a potty!
