About this property

Secluded Villa with Stunning Sea and Mountain Views with Private Pool

Trepen is a spacious, individual house in a very special location on the lower slopes of the Kyrenia mountains. From an elevated position above the village of Edremit, it offers both privacy and outstanding views of the coast from the west to the Karpaz in the east, with the Kyrenia Mountains and St Hilarion crusader castle as a backdrop (you can spot the Queen's window from the pool). The house was completed in 2006 and many traditional Cyprus features have been incorporated, including a stone fireplace, marble floors, large balconies and Cyprus arches. It is fully equipped, has air- conditioners/heaters and ceiling fans. There is a large and very private overflow swimming pool (10m x 5m) with outside shower and BBQ area. A choice of sun or shade is available by the pool or on the many balconies. An attractive stone wall surrounds the property and the landscaped gardens.

family holiday 2024
The villa is in a fabulous quiet location and stunning views unfortunately it is in need of sum new fixture and fitting. the pool loungers cushions are very dirty and worn.the 3 parasols are too small and very cheap and flimsy. the outside dining furniture is just old plastic chairs. The lovely balconies have no comfortable furniture to relax and enjoy your holiday. The downstairs bedrooms shower doors are broken and a plastic curtain used to make the repair. We hope this review helps the owners see it from a guests point of view. The Lincoln family 1st /9th September 2024.

Hidden Beauty
Villa Trepen’s location made the property for us. It is totally private and has the most beautiful views of the stunning scenery surrounding it. The multiple balconies are amazing as is the pool, we had our 7 year old twin daughters with us and they practically lived in there! It is a great place to explore the region and we enjoyed many days out mixed in with days at the villa. The villa has all the facilities we would have wanted or needed.

Fantastic villa
We had an amazing stay at Trepen, Sarah and Mark we really great with there communication before the trip and on our first day. Always happy to help you. We had a couple of small problems at the villa and NCPM sorted them out within half hour of reporting. We had a bigger problem and again they were quick to come up with a solution. Couldn't fault the service. The villa was spotless, very quiet and with stunning views and the pool was a big hit with all the family. We are all ready planning a return trip next year. Thank you for having us ☺️

The calm in a mad world
The villas location can not be beaten if you, like us, want peace and quiet. You get the feeling of being off grid with no noticeable neighbours and far from the noise of any through traffic. The house is well designed and suitably appointed with the large pool completely private. The elevated position gives superb views to the sea and none of the balconies are over looked by - from what we saw - one house higher than this. You will need a car or a very healthy taxi budget as the track to the house is some 25% in gradient and nothing, in my opinion, is within walking distance. Not even the village dustbins. Other than peace and quiet, we chose this house because our daughter is voluteering with SPOT - The Turtle Conservation Project which was 30 minutes away. Amazing experience. Dining wise - we are problematic as one in our party is Gluten Free and Restaurants could not guarantee meals were GF. In fact, many looked at us blankly. Supermarket selections were slim too. Hit and miss with Supermarkets and we found the best ones for selection were about a 10-20 minute drive away. Very cheap. Although the restaurant experience wasn't great, the house had everything to be able to cook our own meals and the views towards the sea arguably better. Arrival instructions were clear, pre-arrival communication was great. Dealings we had with the management team were fantastic. Overall, fantastic 2 weeks! We are fully recharged. Thank you.

An amazing space to enjoy!
Villa Trepen gave us exactly what we needed for our 2 week stay. For 2 adults and 2 teenagers who need their own space, the villa was spacious inside and out. The pool was amazing and the different view around the villa were spectacular (our favourite was the one looking over the mountains!). The location was prime for exploring with easy access to Kyrenia, beaches and Karaman. Thanks to Mark for all the correspondence upfront, it made everything really easy when we landed in Cyprus and we hope to return in the future!

1 week at Tripen Villa
The Villa was an absolute beauty! The views from every angle were breathtaking and honestly we loved taking it all in. As a family it allowed us to enjoy our holiday and actually rest. We made memories we won’t forget! Great location, not far from Girne and many restaurants & shops. We will definitely be happy to stay again! (Parents that are not used to having there kids bedroom far, might want to consider sleeping in one of the bedrooms downstairs too, as the master bedroom upstairs can feel distant. )

A very special place
Trepen is situated up a steep track on the hillside just west of Kyrenia with far reaching views out to sea and to the mountains behind. From the pool you look up at St Hilarion castle - although it's hard to make out until you've visited. It's worth making the trip up there to orientate yourself - from the highest royal apartments you can just make out Trepen far below. In a region where development is rampant, this property is unusual in not being overlooked by anywhere else giving a wonderful sense of privacy. The house is perfectly set up for a family with twin bedrooms on the lower ground floor, a spacious open plan living room on the ground floor next to the pool and a master bedroom at the top. I loved that bedroom sooo much - there are windows on three sides of the room welcoming in the precious breeze. With that and the ceiling fan, we didn't need air con and it was wonderful waking up in the night to the moonlight flooding into the room. Oh and the bed is MASSIVE :o) With a car, there is a lot to explore nearby. Highlights are Alagadi turtle beach (look up SPOT on Facebook for info on hathcling releases), Bellapais Abbey, the Karpaz peninsular (we stayed a night at the very basic Big Sand Beach Bungalows and also loved the beach and Oasis restaurant at Ayfilon) and Cape Kormakitis (Horseshoe Beach restaurant is beautifully rustic). Our favourite local restaurants were Kybele, Dogus Edres and Treasure. I can also strongly recommend Amphora Diving at Kervansaray. After a try dive, our 14 year old son completed his PADI Open Water certificate there and I did a couple of great boat dives with them. A huge thank you to Mark and the rest of family who own Trepen. They were excellent hosts, extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome in what is obviously a much loved family holiday home. It is so wonderful that Trevor and Penny had the vision to build Trepen. We are very glad we found this house and strongly recommend booking it. It may not be the fanciest place we have ever stayed in but it has certainly stolen a little piece of our hearts and until the next time, we will be dreaming of returning.

Total Relaxation!
This has to be one of the best villas we have ever stayed in. Talk about peace and seclusion! Absolutely stunning views and an incredible, large pool. The villa was so well equipped with everything we needed and the owner's communication and instructions on how to use things and how to find the villa were fantastic. We hope to return again one day.

Peace and Tranquility
If you like a villa that is not overlooked with fantastic views then this is for you. The very large pool is completely private and the balconies offer views to the sea and to the mountains. You will definitely need to hire a car but they are easy and cheap to organise. There are an abundance of restaurants within a short car journey and food and drinks are very cheap. The villa also has a built in barbecue. There are lovely beaches, both public and private within a few miles of the villa. We have already booked again for 2016!

Our Third Stay at Villa Trepen
My wife and I so enjoy our recent stay at Trepen with the magnificent panoramic views and the majestic mountains behind, the villa is well equipped with all that you require in the kitchen, bedrooms and sitting room and very spacious for two, plus three terraces to choose were to sit and relax or eat Al Fresco. All very secluded with a very large pool just perfect. It is so easy to get there we fly to Larnaca and use the car hire company the owners recommend who meet you from your flight take you to the villa where you hire car await...couldn't be simpler. There is plenty to see and do with a very wide range of excellent restaurants to choose from ....We cannot wait to return next year. Yan & Neil

Perfect for getting away from it all
My partner and I stayed at Trepen for a week in April. Being only the two of us made the already very spacious villa even bigger! We have a balcony for breakfast, one for evening drinks and another for dinner! All with beautiful views, either looking over Kyrenia and the sea or up at the mountains. The pool area, as the whole of the property, is not overlooked by anything or anyone else. You feel wonderfully secluded but able to see all around you. It was great for us as a couple but we could imagine it to be perfect for a bigger group, especially a family. Were we to come back, we would not look for anywhere else to stay.

Great villa - fab pool
We have just returned from a 2 week very relaxing holiday at Trepen. The villa itself is beautiful and the views are stunning. It is larger than you would think from the internal photos, and has a good standard of equipment, including a water cooler (very handy with temperatures of 39 degrees). The balcony off the living area is a wonderful place to sit in the evening, chatting, playing cards and enjoying the lovely breeze and of course the wonderful views, but it would be nice to have more comfortable furniture here though. The pool was fabulous!! There are a couple of steeps steps into it and then a small shelf, but the rest is 6' deep, so ideal for swimming. We hired a Ford Focus but wished we'd had a 4x4, as with a full car and a boot full of groceries, the side street where the villa is situated at the end of, was a challenge for our basic car. We visited lots of lovely places, including the turtle project, and were lucky enough to witness a baby turtle hatching out, and helped released around 40 hatchlings into the sea that evening (very cute). We had some really nice & inexpensive meals out and were guided by the many recommendations left at the villa by others (Only go to The Kyrenia Tavern if you have lots of time, a strange sense of humour, although the owner is an absolute gent). We had the pleasure of meeting Trevor & Penny during our stay, who were very friendly, and would like to thank them for the use of their lovely villa.

Complete Seclusion
Only two weeks, should have booked more. Secluded but accessible and near to all activities, Kyrenia about 12-15mins drive. Trepen really is as good as it looks, spacious, clean, modern, and with fantastic views with the beautiful coast in the distance, backed by wonderful mountain views. Fortunate to have met Trevor and Penny whilst there, a warm and knowledgable couple always ready to help and inform, but not intrusive. The Turkish community is always helpful and respectful and seem genuinely interested in you. An excellent choice for a relaxed vacation. Alan - June 2009.

Funktionales Haus in super Lage

About the host

Hosted by Sarah & Nicola

Host profile image
Trevor fell in love with Northern Cyprus in the mid sixties and bought an old village house in Edremit village, which was then a Greek village called Trimithi. In 2006 Trevor and Penny built Trepen villa on land behind the old house and since then travelled out every year to visit this delightful place, enjoying its wonderful location, truly magnificent views, privacy and tranquillity. Add to this the warmth of the local people, the sun, the sea and the excellent restaurants, it is a paradise with pleasures we hope you will come out to enjoy, as we do as a family. The house is now being managed by Sarah & Nicola, Trevor's daughters, along with his son in law Mark.

Why they chose this property

If you want peace and quiet, with the sounds of the birds all around you this is the perfect property for you as an opportunity to completely rewind and relax. There are plenty of opportunities to spread yourselves out, around the spacious pool, or on the many balconies, and soak up the tranquility of the surrounding hills.
Just a short ten minute drive will take you to the nearest sandy beach, so you can get the best of both worlds, and there are many different beaches to choose from.

What makes this property unique

There is plenty to do in the area, from visiting the three ancient castles in the area, hiking in the mountains (there are companies who organise this or a popular hiking route the Karmi Trail which starts from the village above), a boat trip from Kyrenia harbour or a day out of luxury in a cabana by the sea at the 5 star Kaya Palazzo hotel. There are even casino nights which can be an interesting night out! Many of the beaches have water sports such as scuba diving and jet skis for those interested in water sports.
