Ready for a private Villa holiday? Modern detached villa that sleeps 4 easily with stunning views of Souda Bay with a spectacular mountain backdrop - the best of both worlds. The Villa is fully equipped, has two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and lounge area. There is private parking, a private garden and shared use of a very large pool. The Villa is located in the village of Kokkino Chorio (named Red Village on account of the fertile soil) and made famous by the film Zorba the Greek, this location offers a great mix of peace, quiet but no so remote that you need to drive for a meal or drink. The local Taverna and minimarket are only a stroll away.

Local villages of Plaka and Drapanos are nearby offering an assortment of tavernas and mini-markets and some local farmers selling their produce of honey, wine, raki, fruits and vegetables as well as olive oil of course! The superb beach resort of Almyrida with it's excellent restaurants, low key nightlife is less than 7 mins away by car. Kalyves is a further 5 mins round the bay, again with an excellent range of restaurants and shops. Both resorts offer Blue Flag accredited beaches and water sports. You can even learn to Scuba Dive, wind surf or snorkel. Cycling hire, car and motor bike hire available to get around the Island. Taxi service available also!

Relaxing break.
Wonderful location with amazing views . A very well equipped villa located in a lovely village close to great beaches with lots of great Tavernas . The villa was spotless on arrival and has everything we needed for our stay . Even in the current heatwave we always had shade and a cool breeze and an amazing view. We will definitely return . Thanks to James and Suzanne for theyre great communication throughout .

Modern Cretan villa
Villa absolutely delightful, well appointed, comfortable, spotlessly clean. Views stunning. Pool excellent, but we were surprised to find it was shared with 4 other villas in a small development. Not explained in on line listing; the neighbouring Villa Venus, also on vrbo, is up front about this.

Great place with amazing views!
We had such a wonderful time in this fabulous place. It was just perfect with 2 large balconies overlooking the sea and the mountains- We had beautiful sunsets and equally good breakfast views. Well equipped property with great pool, lovely village with mini market and taverna very nearby. Hosts provided detailed instructions and good communication

A Perfect Place
Villa Victoria is perfect with fantastic views, wonderfully quiet in the peaceful village of Kokkino Chorio. It is an easy drive from the airport; a car is essential. The Villa is spotlessly clean, decorated and furnished to a high standard with everything you will need. There was a bottle of wine, beer, honey and milk in the fridge, a very welcome surprise. The Villa’s outstanding quality is the layout with the bedrooms on the ground floor giving direct access to the garden or the pool. The living space and open kitchen is on the first floor with two balconies, one facing south and one facing west. Both balconies have fabulous views across Souda Bay. The pool is great, especially for a morning swim. We always seemed to have the pool to ourselves. Ioannis Taverna is a few minutes’ walk, serving authentic Cretan food, with very friendly service and live music on Sunday evenings. There are two more very good restaurants in Drapanos which is ten minutes drive from Kokkino Chorio, We made many picturesque excursions with fabulous views into the mountains, visiting villages, monasteries, chapels, the ancient site of Aptera and finding great restaurants Two great restaurants we found in the mountains are Tzitziphia in Tzitzifes near Frés and Ntounias in Drakona. Both restaurants cook on open cook on open fires! We had a wonderful and peaceful time in Villa Victoria. It is ideally situated for expeditions into Eastern Crete. We highly recommend Villa Victoria. We will return.

Three Geriatrics
This property and location is simply stunning. The view from each of the two balconies over Souda Bay is something to behold. The pool, although shared with 4 other villas was spotlessly clean and was hardly ever in use by the other guests. The villa itself is kitted out to a high standard. The village of Kokkino Chorio is quiet, but has a small grocery store within 400 yards, a taverna within 300 yards and another taverna within a 10 minute stroll. A 7-10 minute drive takes you to Plakka with many tavernas and a further 3 minutes takes you to a superb beach with a multitude of restaurants. A car (and satnav) is essential. We were lucky enough to have wall to wall sunshine with temperatures of 28-30 C If there was one draw back, it was the drive from the airport, along very windy roads after you leave the "motorway". Due to air traffic control problems and our arguments with Google Maps, we didn't reach the villa until 3 am, but we had pre-arranged with the extremely helpful owner (Mr Barrie) for a welcome pack of water, wine and charcuterie, so things weren't all bad ! Would we go back again ? You bet !

We had a nice 7 days in the Villa Victoria. It was a challenge to find in the dark. Villa as described, with a lovely pool, very useful on the extremely hot days, beware of the strange bugs!

Great villa! Would definitely stay again.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at the villa and loved Almyrida. Whilst the villa is a little way out of Almyrida, it has incredible views and is only a short drive from the main beach area. We also found plenty of great restaurants to eat. James and Suzanne were very accommodating and the housekeepers were quick to resolve a couple of small issues on arrival.

Really nice villa in quiet location.
Very well equipped villa and the most stunning views. Hire car definately an advantage, 10min to nearest beach at Almyridia. You can walk but it's all downhill so uphill on return. Spotless villa and pool, perfect place to relax, local tavernas ok to eat at and local shops have necessary supplies. Would we return-YES.

Beautiful villa in a charming location!
We have just returned from a fabulous two weeks at the villa. The views are stunning over Souda Bay and the sunsets are incredible. The villa is spacious and the pool is perfect with a shallow and deep end. The children loved it, as did we. Kokkino Chorio itself is small yet charming. There’s a real sense of community there. The local taverna is great with a good selection of meals. The local shop is great, although as so many English brands are imported it isn’t cheap. We managed without a car and walked down to the beach at Almyrida (45 mins) as well as to Plaka (20 mins) for evening meals. We got taxis back as it was too steep to walk back. The villa is well equipped with pretty much all that you need. We made great use of both balconies and all of the people in the neighbouring villas were very friendly. Despite all of the other villas being occupied we were still often the only ones in the pool. We did have some bother with the pesky wasps who descend en mass if you eat dinner before sunset. We didn’t get bothered by them at lunch or in Almyrida, but in the village they were a problem. The solution was to order food as the sun was setting and then we had no further problems. I would thoroughly recommend this villa and we certainly plan to return at some point in the future.

Compact beauty; Excellent pool. Fabulous Views and great location
Super views over the bay. With its range of balconies, terraces and roof space, there is always somewhere to enjoy the sun or shade. The pool is delightful. Easy walk to well stocked village store and even better another store in Plaka was our favourite. Few minutes' drive to the beach resort which was sleepy and quiet but full of very good restaurants along the front. The sea is very clean and lovely for bathing with a very conscientious lifeguard. We would recommend this property for a family with small children,

Well designed and situated at the quieter end of the plot. Two great balconies.
Thanks so much for letting us rent your villa. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the rest and relaxation. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as good as usual for this time of year. Nevertheless we enjoyed visiting many places around the western end of the island. The villa is very well equipped and comfortable with amazing views across Souda Bay. My only criticism is that we did not receive a mid stay change of bed linen and towels.

Excellent Villa with great views.
The Villa is in a quiet location near to the Village centre where there is a good taverna (and another 300 metres away near the glass factory). If you feel energetic or do not mind walking there is "The Retreat" restaurant further up the hill. And, you can either drive or we found it easy enough to walk down to Plaka to use the restaurants down there as well. There is a small well stocked supermarket that manages to have all the items to cater for most needs and taste. We have been to Kokkino Chorio many times and the locals are very friendly. The Villa itself is inverted in that the bedrooms and bathroom is downstairs and the large lounge/kitchen is upstairs with balconies at the side and front. The balconies have excellent views over Souda Bay so that you can enjoy a drink and watch the sunset go down before going out for a meal. We found the Villa to be clean and well maintained with all the facilities that we needed. The side balcony had enough shade for us to enjoy our breakfast without overheating. There is a small garden off the downstairs bedroom giving access to the swimming pool. We particularly liked the ability to put our sun loungers in the shade when it was too hot. We found the neighbours to be good company on the occasions that we met them. We know the area fairly well and we find plenty to do when we are there. Of course, you could just stay in the Villa and just enjoy it but then you would miss out on much. There are many attractions, walks and ancient sites to visit. It is worth doing a little research before you go. Strange as it may seem you may also want to visit and reflect on what it must have been like at both the British War Graves at Souda and the German one further along the coast which has a small area recounting the history associated with it. .

A fabulous location
We had a brilliant time at the villa, it is well equipped with everything you might need including beach towels. The views are 'to die for', we spen't many evenings on the balcony enjoying the spectacular sunsets. We have been to Crete many times but this was the first time in this area, it certainly won't be the last, we can't wait to go back. A meal at The Retreat is a must, the views and sunset from there are out of this world and the food is good and reasonably priced. I hesitate to praise this Villa too much as we want to be able to book it again for ourselves. Seriously, you won't be disappointed, the scenery, beaches, restaurants and friendliness of the people make for a wonderful holiday experience.

Outstanding quality Villa with fantastic views
We have been to Villa Victoria several times over the years as it offers everything we are looking for in a holiday rental and location. The Villa itself is beautifully furnished and spacious and has all the comforts we need to settle into our holiday on day one. We love the garden and find the pool a great size for a good swim. It was very hot during our last stay in July and the outdoor terrace was great to watch over the bay and have our meals in the shade. We noticed some of the Villa rentals in Kokkino Chorio are are a bit remote up on the mountain but Villa Victoria is ideally positioned in the Villiage with just a short walk to the villiage square Taverna and one now in the Glass Art place (which is great to see glass blowing). The buzzing tavernas in Plaka and Almyrida offer really great local organic food too and we loved our days out to Georgiopoli beach. We look forward to our return next summer!

We enjoyed a fantastic two week stay at Villa Victoria. The villa was perfect in every way, well maintained and equipped with everything needed for a relaxing holiday. With breathtaking views, great pool area, and plenty to see and do in the surrounding area, it really was a holiday to remember. Hope to return again soon.

Villa Victoria
We had a very comfortable and relaxing time at Villa Victoria. The accommodation was clean, well maintained and the facilities were to a good standard. The pool was very nice. The villa was describe accurately on the website. I would definitely recommend the villa. James & Suzanne provided very good customer service and were prompt with replies to emails etc. Kokkino Chorio is a very quite village, there are a couple of beaches a few minutes away by car. I would say a car is essential for this accommodation.

Villa confortable avec une vue magnifique
C'est la 2e fois que nous logions dans cette villa. Elle est spacieuse et dispose d'une vue magnifique sur la baie de Souda. Tous les soirs nous avons pu profiter d'un superbe coucher de soleil, confortablement installés dans les canapés d'une des terrasses. Suzanne and Jim sont très disponibles, ils répondent rapidement et se soucient du bien être des vacanciers qu'ils accueillent. La piscine est grande, et même si elle est partagée avec les quelques autres logements, elle est suffisamment grande pour ne pas que l'on soit entassés. On est d'ailleurs assez souvent seuls dans la piscine. Le logement est équipé de climatiseurs, ce qui est très agréable avec la chaleur. Pour ceux qui prévoiraient de faire beaucoup de visites, regardez d'abord la localisation, car elle est dans une zone montagneuse, et on peut rejoindre les voies rapides en 15/20 mn.

Relax in the sun!
A very nice villa with a small garden and a pool which you share with 4 other villa’s. Enough privacy and a few places to chill. It’s clean and all you need for a good time is there. Mini market and a good place to get traditioneel Greek food is a few minuten walk.
