About this property

Hilltop paradise cottage, a stone's throw from Florence !

The property is set on a private hill, half a mile from the main road. It's only 8 miles from Florence, but because of it's quiet and secluded feeling, it is as though it were totally immersed in its surrounding wild nature and very far from the madding crowds..!
IT IS ESSENTIAL TO COME HERE WITH INDEPENDENT MEANS OF TRANSPORT..!
There is private parking.

The "L'Acetaia" apartment has a private Mediterranean shrub garden, with deck chairs a table and 4/6 chairs, a ground BBQ and a hamoc and a small pool for kids.
It is set on two floors. At the entrance a dining-living-room with a double sofa bed and a small kitchen with a gas stove, oven, and washing machine. A shower room with basin and WC. A staircase leads up to the 1st floor. On your right another bathroom with two basins, bidet, WC and shower. A short corridor, then the double bedroom with an arched window with lovely views of the valley..!
There are two other apts on the property: "La Stalla" for 2 p (40sqmts code HAUK 8584399) with small terraced garden and use of communal garden and shade and "La Vista" up to 4p (60sqmts code HAUK 8551054), with its own roof-terrace with shade.
The farmhouse retains all the original Tuscan 13th cent characteristics, and it's set in an enchanting position. Perched up on a hill, with excellent exposure, therefore plenty of breeze in hot summers. Private parking (40 yds). Close to Florence city centre (8 miles), 10 mins from motorways (coast, Pisa, Arezzo, Siena, etc). These cannot be seen or heard. Shop and bakery within 5 mins drive (location Inno). Typical country 'trattorias', such as "FIORE", "Mamalù" , "La Lanterna", "Lo Spigo", and others, quite close (5/15 mins).

There is a very practical "EUROSPIN" supermarket only 30 yards from the Power Station on the main road (Via Pisana) from Via delle Fonti direction > Lastra a Signa on your left (4,5km / 5 prop.)
The location is close to all the important double carriageways leading up to all the main towns and places of interest in Tuscany (10 mins). These however, can not be seen or heard from the property.
N.B.: this road is in only in part a private road of ours, so, at times, not always in a perfect state of upkeep so we advise to come with means of transport not too low to the ground: i.e. : sport cars, etc. .!
On request, my wife Anna, can prepare breakfast and typical Tuscan evening meals.

At the bottom of the hill there is a very efficient (every 4 mins) tramway which goes right into the centre of Florence (rail/station > Stazione di S.Maria Novella - last stop) in 15-20 mins. You can park your car next to the tramway, free of charge (4 miles/6km away from the property, in Scandicci). The ticket machine is next to the tram (€1.50 pp freq. ev. 5 mins). To avoid fines, don't forget to validate yr ticket once you are on the tram !
Owners organic extra virgin olive oil, organic jams, preserves, chutneys, organic fruit and wines, can be purchased.

N.B.: our dirt track road is only in part a private road of ours, so, at times, not always in a perfect state of upkeep, we therefore advise that it is not suitable for low slung sports cars..!

About the host

Hosted by Julian & Anna

Host profile image
My wife(Anna) and I (Julian) are British citizens, but both have some Italian blood and have lived on this property since we got married.
I am essentially an extra virgin olive oil producer, but I also enjoy organizing wine tours. My wife is an English teacher in Italian schools, but her presence is fundamental for running this business. Anna is also an excellent cook and therefore has decided, if anyone wishes, to give a few cooking lessons (on the premises).
Anna and I love living in the country and enjoy having guests who appreciate this beautiful Tuscan hamlet on top of a hill, but at the same time we are literally a stone's throw from Florence, where we wish to enrich our cultural and social needs !

Why they chose this property

This property is part of a hamlet which was bought by my parents in the late 50's. We decided to come away from Milan and live here, permanently, in 1971. We produced some of the best Chianti wine and an excellent oil, which was exported all around Europe, the US and Canada. I feel very attached to the place, for its approaches, the exclusive, magnificent views, the peace and quiet which makes it quite special and unique, right in the middle of the typical Tuscan countryside, but also very close to civilization!

What makes this property unique

The property is quite unique for its logistical position. Close to all the main roads leading to all the main Tuscan towns, close to the town centre, close to all the main supermarkets, small village shops and restaurants. A 800m private track road (1/2 mile) leading up to the property on a hill (belonging to the hamlet), avoids any potential traffic passing by thus adding a big plus note to this small paradise! Excellent for walks and birdwatching.
