Casa Chocolate is an amazing house !
We stayed in Alhama de Granada for two months, in Casa Chocolate, to experience 'true' Spain before moving to the Costa del Sol. The house is large and offers lots of quiet spots to read or just relax in. It's modern amenities fit in well with the lovingly restored Casa. Orla the owner of the Casa is a great guy and will help to make your stay enjoyable and has a list of helpful information available for you. Antonio who lives a few minutes for the Casa is 'adorable' this guy will do anything for you with a big grin on his face, you never need to worry with Antonio he is there straightaway to get you what you need ! Everyone in the Town knows the Casa Chocolate. The town of Alhama is stepped in history dating back to the Romans. There are layers to be explored but if hiking or biking is your thing then this is the place for you! The gorge is stunningly beautiful with the river running along its winding paths. The town has its share of pubs and Tapas bars with something for everyone. The locals enjoy their evenings strolling through the old town visiting with friends and family in the bars staying out well past midnight ! We couldn't keep up ! You won't find many English speakers here which really makes you focus on learning the language but they will try and help resulting in many new friendships ! So if you want a Cultural introduction to Spain and it's people this is the place to be ! Alhama is not a place you leave, we shall be back to visit friends like Antonio at the El Tigre bar, what a character!
