Really beautiful cottage in a lovely setting. Quite a steep hill to get up if walking with your cases. If driving, the car park is very close to the cottage. Very comfortable & clean, great to have two bathrooms. Two sets of stairs to get to the top bedroom which has an en-suite bathroom & amazing views. Kitchen is well equipped. Perfect location for Bakewell & all surrounding areas, just a short bus ride to Chatsworth House. Highly recommend The Woodyard in Bakewell for a Sunday roast, meat or veggie. The host was great at communicating & very helpful.

We had a wonderful holiday and the cottage was awesome. I was on top floor so alot if steep stairs, but Bannister's and lighting helped. I soon got used to stairs and I loved my ensuite room. The bed was so comfortable it felt like I was sleeping on clouds. Albeit a bit squeaky. The views were absolutely amazing. The kitchen was well equipped with sharp knives and veg scraper. It was very clean and cosy. Richard was very helpful with great correspondence. I would definitely stay again. . Bakewell was quaint and has a good variety of shops and market. So glad we ventured out to lovely areas especially Eyam , the plaque village. Hadden Hall and Bakewell museum was also really interesting.

The cottage was very nice, everything you needed was provided with clear instructions on how to use various appliances. The original flag stone flooring and wood burner made it very homely. The host made contact prior to the visit supplying very useful information on the surrounding are e.g pubs, restaurants, places to visit and walks for the surrounding area. Own parking space was perfect.

Pretty good although it was a little cramped downstairs for 4 to eat. But well equipped and nice and warm. We enjoyed our stay. Some little niggles, nothing major: Bannister on the stairs coming away from wall. The top bedtoom could do with some blackout curtains as the blinds let too much light through.Bulb in top shower we replaced, no more bulbs left.Remote for freesat not working.Cheers

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you have encountered problems during your stay. This is something we strive to avoid at all costs. We carry out regular maintenance checks but occasionally we only become aware of problems if our guests alert us or our cleaning team discover them. For this reason we chat to our guests prior to arrival, and reiterate in our welcome email asking people to get in touch if they encounter any problems so that we can fix them without delay. There are spare batteries & bulbs available for our guests, we certainly do not expect our guests to buy them. In addition to replacement items we also have a a local handyman available for any unforseen repairs such as the handrail. We really want our guests to have a lovely time and we do everything we can to help.

Great Little Cottage

Lovely property in a beautiful location. Had everything myself and my wife needed for our walking holiday in the Derbyshire Dales. Richard (owner) was very friendly and helpful, and as the place was empty before our arrival allowed us to extend our break with an earlier arrival time on our first day. Views from the top bedroom are beautiful. Parking straightforward and close to cottage. Would recommend.

Perfect

Just spent a week at Christmas in this cottage. As there were 3 adults it was ideal for us as it has 2 bathrooms. Well equipped everything you need for a great stay. Perfect location and peaceful, and fabulous views from the kitchen and upstairs bedroom. Great communication with Ricard. Bakewell only 5 minutes walk and has everything you need Co-OP, Spar, 2 butchers fish and chips, we used both the Chinese which delivered and the food was lovely. We also ate at the Indian, great service some different dishes to your usual Indian with good service and very reasonable priced. Good selection of pubs. Chatsworth house only 6 mins drive or you can catch the bus there. Throughly enjoyed our stay and have rebooked for next Christmas

Lovely stay in this cottage out of a fairy tale

We loved staying in this historic cottage. Gorgeous views from every window, especially the third floor. Instructions were clear and thorough. Kitchen was well-equipped. We stayed in the third-floor bedroom, which was large and comfortable. Second floor bedroom also large. Three floors of winding steps would be tricky for anyone with mobility issues, but we knew this ahead of time. Fireplace was cozy after day of hiking. Did not need a car. Five-minute walk to town. The walk to cottage was up a steep hill but we knew this ahead of time. I would love to stay here again!

Really enjoyed our stay

The cottage is lovely and in a great position with nice views out to the hills. It is well located and a short walk down into town (but probably a long climb back which we didn’t do because of the ice) The hosts could not have been more helpful. All the fixtures and fittings were pretty good although we did not do any cooking or washing while we were there. Beds were comfortable and we slept very well. Wi-fi worked well and I could stream on my phone and broadcast to the TV so we could watch what we wanted. The cupboards were full of games, guides, maps – everything you could want for an evening or a cold wet day. We found it a bit difficult to get a comfortable temperature in the living area – either too hot or too cold and we did not use the log burner. We made the mistake of leaving the heating on downstairs on the first night and were much too hot in the night but I guess if we stayed longer we would get it worked out. One minor point is that the floor in the living room is tiled – probably easy to clean from muddy boots BUT take carpet slippers with you as its very cold on stockinged feet. As the website states, access for people with limited mobility is difficult as there are stone steps down to the cottage and the inside stairs are steep with narrow treads Bakewell is a lovely little village and we have stayed there quite a few times in the past. We felt that Manners was not as good as it used to be but PieDaniels was amazing. The best meal we’ve had in seve

Thank for your review Dave. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and as you know you would be welcome back anytime. Thank you also for your comments. The heating is of course gas and the radiators can be controlled by the thermostats fitted to each radiator, and the log burner is always available to use.

Bakewell Break

Easy to find, walking distance of Bakewell. Didn’t need to use car at all…. Great break. Cottage was clean and comfortable, had everything we needed. Had great info emailed by landlord but instructions were also left by landlord in cottage. Thoroughly recommend this lovely old cottage for a break.

Nice Cottage in the middle of Bakewell

Great location close to the centre , fully furnished and super clean, the only thing it has stairs inside the house might not be suitable for someone with mobility challenges, but we were ok with it and it was mentioned with the description of the cottage. The owner is friendly and available on the phone, we had lovely time , definitely recommend !

Cosy terraced house in a central Bakewell location perfect for a small family

We had a lovely stay in Catcliffe cottage for half term with our two children. With a dedicated parking spot, and 5 minute walk down the hill into Bakewell, it was the perfect location with so much to do on the doorstep. The property was clean and cosy, and having a bathroom for each of the two bedrooms and basement utility area was a plus. Being spread across 4 floors with quite steep stairs, may not suit all, but was perfect for our family. The views from the top floor bedroom each morning were stunning. All in all, a well equipped, clean, home from home cottage and a fantastic base to explore the Peaks. We hope to return one day.

Excellent Property with great communication

The property is in an excellent location within 5 mins of Bakewell town centre. It was very clean, warm and welcoming. The owner made contact very early to ensure we knew everything required to enjoy the property. Private parking was useful and the wood burner was very handy on the chilly nights. We made use of the local shops and restaurants (who will deliver), the Indian was particularly nice. I would highly recommend to a small family or couple look for a hub in the Peaks. Would visit again. Thanks 🙏
