About the host

Hosted by Clare Parnell

Host profile image
Mike & Clare Parnell live in Carruan farmhouse adjoining the property. Clare grew up at Carruan and it remains a family farm which is now run by Mike, Clare and their nephew Philip.
The farm has 1000 breeding ewes. The main lambing is for a month from the end of January and a smaller flock in March and April. 140 calves are bought from a local dairy farm in February and reared through to sale at 18 - 20 months. The farm also grows wheat and barley. Although most of the farm buildings are situated away from Carruan there is still plenty going on should guests want to get involved - perhaps helping move sheep to fresh pastures aided by the 4 working dogs.

Why they chose this property

This is a family farm that was bought by Clare's father in 1958. It is a fabulous place to live and work.

What makes this property unique

If guests would like to learn more about the farming they are very welcome to get involved.
Having lived in this area all their lives Mike and Clare have a lot of knowledge about the best places to visit and are very happy to share that knowledge with guests
