3-4 floor historic home in beautiful West Central Fort Wayne...120yo home with central AC/heat +portable AC units rehabbed with modern conveniences to make your stay comfortable. <1mi to all the landmarks of downtown FW.
3000sf home (basement/1st/2nd flr) is a great home to have family gatherings. Large tiled front porch - great for people watching. Optional to rent 700sf attic is a hangout/tv/gaming area with Xbox/foosball for teens/tweens/young adults - sleeps 6 people. Attic = EXTRA CHARGE $150. 8.3 miles (15 - 20 min) to FWA unless as overflow for >16 guests. Because it is near downtown, most destinations in FW <15-20 minutes.
NO SMOKING/TOBACCO/ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES ANYWHERE ON THE PREMISES. I have guests with medical issues staying here because there is no smoking. Please don't book this house if you have any smokers in your group. If you move furniture/bedding, please return to original space at check-out.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS PROPERTY RENTAL IS NOT CHARGED AS A FLAT RATE. Since the house accomodates from 2 to 22 guests, the pricing is tiered depending on how many guests are staying. The base pricing is for 2 guests. Each person extra is charged at $35/person/night.
If you are booking this house for 2-3 guests, but trying to accommodate more people in for the same rate, please don't book this house. IF MORE GUESTS ARE FOUND TO STAY OVER WHAT IS BOOKED (WE HAVE EXTERIOR CAMERAS TO VERIFY), THE RATE FOR EXTRA GUESTS WILL BE CHARGED AT $50/person/night. Between the outdoor ring cameras + housekeeper, we will know how many guests actually stayed. I am a single disabled mother who has worked hard on this house for nearly 10 years. Please be respectful & follow the rules. If you are on a budget, then write me to let me know your situation. I'll do my best to accommodate you/your group.

Breaking house rules = $250 forfeit from SECURITY DEPOSIT Unauthorized early check-in =$100 fee Unauthorized late check-out =$100-$250 fee.
A gentle reminder that this is a large home & the cost of upkeep/utilities is the same regardless of group size. Rentals for large groups must reflect the number of individuals staying in the property as I cannot allow significant discounts. Please be respectful of this.
There is also a sectional sleeper sofa with full-sized mattress.
ALL mattresses and pillowcases have been encased to prevent bedbugs, allergens, and are waterproof.
HOUSE LAYOUT: I decided to write up layout of the bedrooms/beds and available options so you can make a better decision on who goes where, etc. I’ve named the bedrooms to avoid confusion.
GROUND FLOOR The ground floor/1st floor has a small bedroom (Fairfield) with a queen bed. It has newly renovated full bathroom with walk-in shower. So it’s like a small master suite. To get to this bathroom, you must walk through Fairfield bedroom. Fairfield is next to the kitchen; hence, it is ideal for anyone with mobility concerns. Also on the ground floor is the kitchen, dining room, and living room. Though to gain access to the house, one must be able to climb 3 steps from outside. let me know if you have disability issues as I can get a disability ramp.
2nd FLOOR The 2nd floor has 3 bedrooms. 2 of the bedrooms have connecting smaller bedrooms. One bedroom (Wayne) is quite large & has 2 queen beds in this room. There is a sliding door in Wayne that leads to another small bedroom (Union) with twin bunk beds. Union is about 80sf. Union also has its own door to the hallway as well.
There is a small bedroom (Ewing) with a queen bed. It’s about 110sf. No connecting room.
Lastly, there is Van Buren room with a queen bed. This room connects to the solarium (Harrison). The solarium (100sf) has a twin daybed with a twin trundle. To get to Harrison from the hallway, you must walk through Van Buren.
BASEMENT: Basement has an adult game room with a multi-gaming table (pool/ping pong/push hockey), darts, seating area, 32"TV, a laundry area, a kiddie room with TV as well as a 3/4 bathroom.
ATTIC: 700sq area with foosball table, Xbox, 3/4 bathroom, 4 twin beds and a full-sized bed. So if someone wants to stay up here, it is possible. I do charge to rent this unless it is overflow for a large group - to cover the housekeeping/ supplies/utilities as it is another 700 sf. But with larger groups, it does allow for people to spread out more comfortably. So If you want to use the attic, there will be a one time charge of $150. You can also decide after you arrive & check out the house. I will send you door codes before check-in.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

The House worked out great for our large group who were in town for the North American Brass Band Championships. Plenty of sleeping room/beds for everyone in our group, kitchen was great for making some shared meals for everyone. Also used the grill outside one day. Would definitely stay here again.
This property was actually as good as it looks (I was concerned — it looked too good to be true for the price.) Wanda responded to any questions promptly, the neighborhood is nice, and the house itself is fascinating and spacious. Other than a problem with the dishwasher, our stay was ideal. A great find.
It was a lovely place for my bachelorette party! The only real issue was that there was a leak in the kitchen from the upstairs bathroom.

Hannah,
Thank you for your review. I'm sorry that you had a less than perfect stay for your bachelorette party. Yes, unexpected leaks can happen on any house, but it seems even more so with historic houses. The leaking was noted by the guest just prior to your stay. We try to work repairs in between bookings when possible. Since then, the leak has been repaired. In fact, the plumber replaced the piping with new PVC & new drywall - taking 10 hrs to do the repair. So I'm just glad we were able to get it done without having to cancel your booking.
The house warm comfortable, welcoming, and a unique stay. There was more than enough room for our group and we appreciated the convenient location. Wanda was very helpful and made sure the entire stay was easy and seamless.
We had a great stay here! We were 6 adults and were very comfortable, the house is very well taken care of and close to downtown. The host was quick to respond and very helpful! Would definitely stay here again!

This lovely home was spotless, had an excellent location and attentive host. There was off street parking, and I really enjoyed my morning walk in the beautiful neighborhood.

Thanks for your wonderful review Gina.. I'm so happy you had such a positive experience. Come back anytime!
A group of 8 of us stay at the home for our 5th annual “Hallmark weekend”. We enjoyed several activities in Fort Wayne most of which were located within 5 minutes of the home. The home met are needs and we enjoyed the large living room where we were all able to sit and chat and play games.
Beautiful House and well maintained. There was plenty of space for our group and it was in walking distance of downtown and everywhere we needed to go. Would recommend

thanks for your excellent review. So happy that you had a positive experience. Would be happy to host you again. :)
The place was lovely! We had about 18 guests and there were plenty of towels, plates, and the kitchen was well stocked. The design of the home is such that those who rise early can sit and talk without bothering those still sleeping. Parking was limited due to construction but we managed fine. No yard to play in, but we spent our time elsewhere. We all slept great there.
I had an amazing experience staying at this rental house. The space was clean, cozy, and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities needed. The neighborhood was quiet and safe, with shops and downtown just a short walk away. The host was incredibly friendly and responsive, making the whole process smooth and stress-free. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

I'm glad you had such a positive experience. Thanks for giving such a detailed review for others.
We totally enjoyed our five day stay in this beautifully restored historic home. It served as a comfortable "home base" as we actively re-discovered our hometown! The central location was perfect for our family and close to our childhood church,....and Coney Is and Henrys and Museums and parks and shopping and the library (genealogy). A great find for future trips to FT Wayne!!!

Previously, I was a practicing anesthesiologist - until I had an aortic dissection and required emergency open heart surgery. I had significant complications. Later I became a single mother by choice. In 2011 I left Los Angeles to live a quieter safer life with my son. We rent out our home in Manhattan Beach so we go back to LA frequently. Shortly after purchasing this house, we moved to Zeeland, MI, so we return to the Washington house frequently to finish/update/improve it to make it cozy/comfortable for our guests.
Please follow house rules...I'm not a corporation....I'm just a single mom who put a lot of heart/soul/money into this house. :)
Why they chose this property
This house is 120 years old, but preserved immaculately. West Central is a beautiful neighborhood just adjacent to the downtown that is undergoing huge development. From this house, you can walk everywhere...10-20 minute walk. The house is a 15 minute drive to most places in the city.
What makes this property unique
My house is unique as it can hold very large groups very comfortably with 22 beds/4 bathrooms & can accommodate all ages! I have everything from a portable crib/pack-n-play to a toddler play room to a teen/tween hangout area to first floor that can accommodate older folks with mobility issues.
