About this property
Beach-Side Cottage: Windows By The Sea
Secluded down a dead-end dirt road, our beach-side cottage sits in the lap of a beautiful sand and pebble beach, so close you can flip a coin into the water from the screen porch at high tide. The building was a Sears and Roebuck kit house of 1923 which we recently remodeled with a new bath and a half, kitchen and master bedroom. We have retained the original charm and added more comfort and convenience: outside shower, inside bathtub, a wood stove for chilly nights. Three bedrooms contain a king-size bed, a double and a pair of twin beds. Above the screen porch is a sleeping loft with another single bed. A stand alone bunkhouse has large bunk beds for a total of beds for ten! Bring your extended family and let the kids find green crabs among the rocks while you watch the osprey’s hunt as you have cocktails on the deck. Wonderful walks are available island-wide protected by Islesboro Island Trust. Walk to the trailhead of the Herbert Preserve, just a mile away. The trail, 45 minutes, winds along an extensive estuary. Summer programs–Big Tree Boating, Island Explorations and Expeditions, Islesboro Summer Recreation, Pripet Horse Riding–available for kids.

The house is right on the beach, and we spent most of our time outdoors, either on the deck, the beach, or in the canoe and kayaks. The kitchen was bright and airy, and it was well stocked. There were 8 of us, so we appreciated the large dining room table where we could all fit easily. We all enjoyed using the outdoor shower. We're looking forward to coming back.
We've been coming here for years. The quiet, the beauty, the restorative powers of the place - it just doesn't get better than this. We do nothing but rest and explore and read. We take brave dips into the cold water. We kayak. We sit on the beach, the deck, the porch. We nap. We eat together, looking out the picture window onto the Bay. We watch the neighborhood eagle and the loons. It's a little slice of heaven. Thank you, Tom and Sue, for sharing this little paradise with us every year.

I'm thrilled you appreciate the cottage and the unique setting as well as we do and happy it brings you peace.
This was a fantastic location where we gathered a large family group. The separate cabin in the back allowed a perfect spot for one couple, and the rest of us spread out. Fires on the beach, drinks on the deck, puzzles, reading, swimming, beach walks...This is a very special spot. Thank you!!!
The house is right on the water with beautiful views and a great beach right out the door. It is set up well to relax and have fun. Good spot for a family or small group of friends.
One of the best locations on Islesboro and amazing hosts who make sure you are well taken care of and comfortable. Kayaked and canoed daily. Breath taking sunrises too!
Surrounded by the beauty of the sea and sky, we loved watching the eagles, heron, seals & schools of fish rising right from our deck. Lots of kayaking and hiking trails throughout the island.
Tom and Sue are wonderful hosts who own an amazing home on Billy Shore Drive. It’s unique, creative, with a meaningful history. In my opinion, the best location on Islesboro. I love waking to the sunrise and walking the two Coves. It’s steps away from the water and great for paddling and kayaking. It’s a great property to relax and soak up all the beauty Islesboro has to offer. We will definitely be back!!!
Everything you want from a property nestled between between coves on Billy Shore Drive. We spent a week relaxing on the porch, walking the beaches, star gazing and taking in all the natural beauty Islesboro has to offer. Tom and Sue offer a clean and beautiful property. The outdoor shower was amazing!! I loved finding special bouquets of flowers from the yard in each room. We will be back for sure!!

A wonderful & serene experience for the whole family
We absolutely loved the house and location. Our hosts had left fresh flowers in every room, a little touch that was really appreciated. The house accommodated 9 of us comfortably and we thoroughly enjoyed going back to basics - washing the dishes at the kitchen sink, showering outside... We had everything we needed in the house and the kids loved the bunk house and loft room above the porch. There were a couple of great markets on the island for groceries, wine and lobster! The highlight of our stay was definitely the breathtaking ocean view and the fact that the front deck is literally a stone's throw from the ocean. The only downside was the lack of a restaurant on the island, we'd have liked to eat out and not cook one night. Definitely recommended for those looking to escape the chaos of city life and switch off.

Magical Week with Family
Perfect spot for a family gathering to celebrate my birthday!
Lovely clean well-provisioned cottage on a quiet cove.
Communication with the owners was easy and comfortable.
Swimming, kayaking, beach combing, biking, woods walks, quiet time on porch, nice deck to gather. All this in rhythm to the changing tides. Grandkids and dogs very happy.
Layout allowed the nine of us to gather and also gave us some room for separation. Two granddaughters claimed the backyard cabin and teenage grandson climbed the ladder up to the sleeping loft while we had the lovely master bedroom with separate sitting area on the second floor.
A memorable week.

Secluded spot on Islesboro
We -- two couples-- were there only a few days but plan to go back for a longer stay. Two more couples could have joined -- perfect for a large family or even 2 small ones. This secluded spot is an ideal, almost isolated getaway, a few other houses around. The house is right on the shore, close enough to hear the waves lapping. House is comfy, clean, well stocked with whatever you didn't think of. On a secluded road with access to another shore just on the other side. Perfect for shoreline walks, with Maine woods walks also nearby. conveniently close to a small store for necessities. The owners are very nice and helpful. Saw a bald eagle, first in my life.

Beautiful,
I lived in this special home for the summer and fall of 2015, and its hands down the most wonderful place I've ever lived. You have access to two beaches, both are protected and are easy to paddle and swim around in. There are amazing walks through woods and tidal marshes. There was a blue heron friend who came every morning to watch the sunrise too:) The kitchen is super functional. The bedrooms are cozy and"summer cottage quaint". The woodstove works very well and can warm up the house even on the coldest of nights. If you get the chance, do yourself the favor to stay in the amazing home.
