Beautiful spot on the lake. Nice dock and plenty of chairs to sit and enjoy campfire. Grill was nice and our boys enjoyed the bunkhouse. Cabin is rustic and brought back memories of going to cabins in our youth. Bedding and linens were a bit worn, but clean. We would have really appreciated some wood for campfire.
This place worked out very well for our three families to meet up for the weekend. We had 6 adults and 7 kids. Beds were comfortable and the place was clean and cozy with a beautiful view. it would be nice if there were more places to sit to eat, but we knew that going in. In the summer this would not be an issue.
Our group of five Seniors had a wonderful time. We rented both the cabin and the bunkhouse, so that we would have more space. The deck is a great area to socialize, dine, and enjoy the views. We sat on the dock and watched an Eagle “go fishing” for its breakfast. There are basic model kayaks and a canoe. We enjoyed the short drive to nearby hiking trails and Hayward. Patrick, the host, is very quick to respond to phone calls and messages.

Nice cozy cabin
We enjoyed our stay! Cabin was very clean and had everything we may have forgotten. One of the advantages is that it is very close to town. Easy to go to shops, pick up food, etc. Also enjoyed the kayaks. The lake was quiet and allowed for kayaking all around the lake. Cabin is also close to other attractions. We took day trips to Copper Falls and the Apostle Islands.
Both were only an hour or so away. The only minor thing to mention is that the dock/lake area was weedy. This did not allow for swimming. Would recommend this property for a vacation.

Thanks Bill, we're glad your family enjoyed the stay. We are looking into ways that we can make for a better swimming experience right in front of the cabin. Copper Falls and the Apostle Islands are our two favorite day trips, too!

A Perfect Winter Northwoods Retreat
We just returned to the city after spending a little over a week at the cabin. From the moment we inquired about the cabin to the moment we arrived back at home and realized we forgot our camera charger, this has been a great experience. Communication was clear, prompt and pleasant, and the owners were so kind and let us move our arrival day and departure day by 1 day. When we arrived, we were greeted with chocolates, wine, and a warm cabin with a great layout and unique decor. We immediately felt at home! Finally, I got enough sleep at night. The beds were comfortable, and real cotton does make a difference! We spent Christmas and New Year's enjoying cozy fires, beautiful views of the frozen lake and best of all, a very short commute to the Hatchery Trail head. After being out in the cold, it was such a treat to return "home" to this cabin, and the teenagers in our family were thankful for a cabin with wifi. The bunkhouse made it possible for our friends to join us for a couple of days. Lastly, my husband read the cabin book "True North". It was difficult to pry him away from the cabin, the Northwoods, the dream of a simpler life and of course the Birkie.
Thank you family Bushman. We are happy we found your cabin!

Thank you so much for the kind words! It truly warms our hearts to know that you've been able to share in our love of the Northwoods, and allowed us to be your host while you're here. We hope you'll come again.
We had a great stay for a family gathering. Everything we needed was available and then some! It was a perfect week of fishing, campfires, pudgy pies and ATV riding!
The cabin was very comfortable for everyone.
Thank you for a great stay!
We had a great family reunion at the Birch cabin and Spruce Chalet. Plenty of room for 14 between the two cabins. Plenty of outdoor space to relax and chat. We rented a pontoon for three days and took that out into the Lake for swimming (if you want to swim off the dock, this might not be your rental…there are clues in the description to head for the public beach…) we had a fire every night, which was wonderful.
Patrick is a blessing to work with: very communicative and a good host. We are grateful for his attentiveness to our needs and requests.
We spent a weekend here for a work retreat. We rented all three cabins as there were 13 of us and this worked out great. All three cabins were well taken care of and it was nice to be able to spread out. It was nice being so close to town yet felt really secluded as you can’t really see any neighbors. Would definitely come back!
Convenient location made it easy to get to everything in town while still having the lake and trees nearby. Comfortable sleeping arrangements for our family.
Caught a few smaller northerns from the dock, went hiking on hospital road, tried some other shoreline fishing in the area. Saw 2 awesome sunsets From the deck. Nice relaxing tone. Owners very easy to work with and communicate well with you. Thanks for sharing your cabin. Brian and Pam
We rented all 3 cabins for a family trip with 10 adults and 5 kids. Patrick was wonderful to work with. The property was exactly what we had expected and then some. The screened in porch was fantastic. We paddled every day, fished, swam and enjoyed the downtown area. We would definitely go back.

Awesome!
We had a great weekend, minus the damp, cool weather. The house was everything we expected and communication was outstanding. There was another cabin rented to another party. This was not a problem for us, we shared the rafts and both had bonfires and it was no big deal. I only mention this because it says it won't be rented out to other parties, so if you are looking for some alone quite family time, it may or may not be that! Like I said, there is plenty of room to share, but wanted to be sure others knew it might not be just them as the information states. Thanks for a great relaxing few days, just wish it would have been warmer!

The perfect charming retreat.
The host made check in so easy and left a super gift for us to enjoy. I loved the sleeping porch. We were able to have relatives over every day and sit at the kitchen table and share meals and stories. We had snacks and drinks in the living room-just perfect. Everything was clean and the bathroom worked for us, 3 people. The kitchen is a joy- dishwasher! Beautiful views out the windows. Loved the deck, well equipped for quests and the dock and firepit! We had wi-fi and cable! My mom is in a wheelchair and that worked perfectly. This cabin has great charm and character. I hope you are lucky enough to stay there.

This comfy cottage on the lake is a favorite place of ours. We love the sleeping porch overlooking the lake and the wood burning fireplace. We have stayed at this cottage many tines over the years and are looking forward to our next visit. Patrick was great to work with and very responsive.

About the host
Hosted by Patrick Bushman
We are lifelong Wisconsin residents and have four children at home. Life is never dull! We love the Northwoods and most especially the Hayward area. We stay in VRBO properties whenever we travel, which gives us a good understanding of the needs and wants of our guests as well. Our goal is to provide our guests a welcoming, comfortable place from which to enjoy this beautiful area, just as we have for many years.
Why they chose this property
At the end of a cul-de-sac, and further secluded by a long private driveway, our location is very private, yet just minutes away from the amenities of downtown Hayward.
