What a gorgeous, spacious cottage in a gorgeous part of Ireland. Excellent communication with the owner. Easy check-in. Well appointed kitchen although we found excellent food in Kenmare. Would definitely stay again.

Delighted you found the local restaurants and had a great time Drue! Come back agar next year for more of the same!
Our family of five loved our three nights in this little haven. We had a car so made it easy to be out in the country and day trip to the Ring of Kerry and Dingle. A huge lawn where we had a baseball game with our kids and a two cozy movie nights in. Absolutely delightful.
Beautiful property just outside of Kenmare. I wish we had skipped the ring of Kerry drive in favor of walking into town. We had a great time going to town and through the Killarney National Park. The nearby Ring Fort was interesting, also. The rest of the Ring of Kerry, I could have missed.
What a beautiful place to be , the cottage was well equipped, lovely spacious grounds . Couldn’t fault it . Good location for days out at landmarks and atttractions
The highlight of our trip around Ireland! Loved the house, the surroundings, the village of Kenmare! John was an attentive host. We would love to come back someday!!
This country estate lived up to the photos, and then some. It's on a large piece of property at the end of a long driveway, and feels very secluded. The drive into town was very quick, about 5 minutes as advertised. The house and grounds are very well cared for. There are several huge hydrangea bushes on the property that were in full bloom when we were there (mid-July) that we enjoyed a lot. The three bedrooms were ample for us. The kitchen was well-stocked with all we needed.
We loved this house! It was very private and quiet. Close to town. It was perfect for the four of us. The manager was very attentive to any issues that came up. Convenient place to stay for Killarney NP, Muckross house and the ring of Kerry.
The accommodation is perfect , a lovely quiet stunning location . The property had everything you would need. I have given 5 star but would give more if i could.

Cready River Cottage was absolutely fabulous. Great location and a very modern property with all the mod cons you could wish for. Wonderful outdoor space with gardens and a bubbling stream. We had lovely breakfasts outside with all the family and the weather was an added bonus. Will definitely rebook in the future.
Tucked at the end of a rural lane, expansive lawn at river’s edge, all fenced and ringed with trees. Interior provides multiple spaces downstairs to gather. Overstuffed couches are not very comfortable. Views/scents/sounds are peaceful. A suggested rural walk into Kenmare was a highlight. The house is a welcome retreat after a day exploring this gorgeous part of Ireland.
We enjoyed every minute in this cosy house. It is perfectly equipped, has a of space and the surrounding is quiet and peacefull. The landscape is georgious and there are a lot of things to visit nearby. Thanks for everything.
The whole family including kids, grandparents and Alba our dog loved the cottage. We all want to come back.
It was lovely to come back each day to the cottage after exploring different parts of the beautiful Ring of Kerry. We loved the decor (stealing a few ideas), enjoyed sitting outside with a glass of wine, and it was great to have different lounges for everyone to do their thing.

Thanks for staying Karen! Delighted you enjoyed our cottage as much as we do! You’re welcome to bring Alba and the rest of your family back anytime!
The property is wonderful. The house is gorgeous. We used it as a home base for our day excursions. Sometimes two hours back after a long day. My advice would be to make sure you know what your adventure goals are when booking. The town of Kenmare is wonderful. We went every evening for dinner and strolling.

We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Cleady River Cottage! Just so others are aware, the cottage is a 5 minute drive into Kenmare and not two hours! Your advice to others about planning their day out is good though as the roads in South West Ireland are beautiful for leisurely driving and not built for speed!
For a second stay in the past two years, we have found our Irish paradise in this lovely cottage home. The sound of the river nearby and the lovely landscape provided a garden setting. The interior is comfortable and homey. We enjoyed cocktails and cards in the cozy sitting room. The location was perfect for day trips to Killarney National Park, the Rings of Kerry and Beara and the Dingle peninsula. The lovely town of Kenmare provides wonderful dining options with their Michelin restaurants and many other fine options. We look forward to returning to this, our favorite spot in Ireland, in the not too distant future.

Delighted that you enjoyed your second stay in a year Jill! Let me know when you’re planning your next trip and we’ll get you booked in!
Safe journey home!
John was very accommodating. The house is well appointed and while only minutes from Kensale, is down a small road that makes it quite private and quiet. We loved hearing the birds and the stream and nothing else..
Bedrooms are large , beds comfortable.
We cooked almost every night and found the kitchen to have all the dishes/pots and pans needed
Everything was clean, comfortable and cozy. Location was very quiet.
Even though we used google maps, and instructions from the owner, we were lost in trying to locate the cottage but a kind neighbor assisted us. (Addresses are not posted on houses or roads in Ireland which is different from America)
There was plenty of room for the 4 of us staying, and each had space to move about. It was nice to have a working fireplace to sit next to as well. The rooms are spacious but the beds are firm.
It was wonderful to have a washer and dryer since we had been traveling around previously.
We would stay here again.

Lovely property
We definitely felt that we were on holiday in this luxury home. The grounds were lovely to enjoy with good weather. The house was immaculate.
Unfortunately a negative was lack of response from the owner when we had problems with internet connection. Even the manager had made a phone call on our behalf. This created an issue for us as we had an unintended business issue arise which we could not address.

Hi Sharon, I'm so sorry you had issues with the WIFi while you were in the cottage. Unfortunately I was away and out of mobile coverage and the gardener who you spoke to didn't have the proper code. We have now made sure that all guests get the WiFi code before their visit. Hopefully we'll have a chance to welcome you back again in the future.

Lovely Cottage
We had a wonderful week at Cleady River Cottage -- the cottage is extremely comfortable, is fully equipped for a family - with plenty of room to spare. The owners have thought of everything. The owner is very helpful and very responsive to all questions and information. He quickly responded to our questions. The cottage is located near to Kenmare - a lovely base for visiting the Ring of Kerry and Beara Peninsula (we thought the BEara was even nicer than the Ring of Kerry!)... and for hiking in Killarny Ntl. Park. This is a walker and hiking paradise! We were very, very sorry to leave this bit of paradise and would highly recommend the cottage most highly. Our group of middle-age siblings and spouses had a terrific stay!

Thank you for the wonderful review of our cottage and your kind comments about my response times! I do try and help our guests as much as possible. We always want our guests to get a real "feel" for Kenmare and the South West so that they tell their friends and family and hopefully return again themselves someday soon!
About the host
Hosted by John Wallace
We fell in love with Kerry and Kenmare in particular in 1990 and spent the following 12 years trying to find the site to build our holiday cottage. It took us longer than expected but we love the house and its location so close to Kenmare! We hope you agree!
Why they chose this property
We love the natural stone finish and warmth that the cottage has. With the extension of a sitting room and guest bathroom we now have all the space that a family or couple could want for their vacation in Kenmare. An open fireplace and a stove are just wonderful to light and sit in chatting and talking about the days adventures while sipping a glass of wine!
What makes this property unique
This cottage is in a large garden of about two acres, the Cleady River flows to the rear and sounds so relaxing when sitting on the patio at the end of a busy day sightseeing! With wi-fi, you can investigate where to visit on the following day or catch up with emails. The kitchen is equipped to a very high standard with all the equipment needed to prepare your own gastronomic feast - all you need are the ingredients and ability! We also have a small safe for storing your valuables.
